    Friendly staff beautiful safe community

I moved my mom to Kingsway and I'm very pleased - the staff are friendly, professional and attentive, the facility is beautiful, spotless and safe, and meals, activities and transportation keep residents engaged. Memory and nursing care (including hospice) are compassionate and competent, and staff work closely with families so the transition felt like home. I'd recommend Kingsway - a wonderful community with just a few minor areas for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews portray Kingsway Retirement Living as a community with strong strengths in day-to-day resident care, social engagement, and physical environment. Many families emphasize consistently compassionate and attentive staff, including licensed nursing personnel and aides who are described as accessible and knowledgeable. The community’s memory-care program receives particular praise for trained caregivers, a thoughtfully designed environment, and cognitive-stimulation tools. Reviewers also describe a family-like atmosphere with personalized attention, smooth admissions, and staff who assist with transitions.

Dining, activities, and amenities are recurring positive themes. The facility offers restaurant-style meals with dietitian oversight, varied dining options, and frequent praise for food quality. Organized activities, resident-led groups, religious programming, day trips, and on-site amenities (coffee shop, parlors, craft and wood shops, and social spaces) support active engagement. Transportation services, including van service and accommodations for motorized wheelchairs, are also noted as practical benefits for residents’ mobility and social participation.

The physical plant and safety features receive favorable comments: well-groomed grounds, attractive architecture, large apartments with multiple layout options, and visible safety measures such as pendant alert systems and prompt call-button responses. Families describe cleanliness and attentive housekeeping, as well as a sense of security from on-call nursing coverage and hospice/end-of-life support when needed.

Notable patterns of concern appear across a subset of accounts. Communication with families and clinical follow-up are described as inconsistent at times, with gaps in notification and supply coordination that can cause frustration. Several comments point to uneven responsiveness or tone from management-level staff; reviewers characterize these as variability in how concerns are handled and in the quality of follow-up. Staffing levels are occasionally described as insufficient, which reviewers link to delays or variability in day-to-day service. A few accounts raise environmental safety issues (such as trip hazards) that suggest opportunities to strengthen fall-prevention and facilities maintenance protocols. Cost is another recurring theme: while many feel the pricing is justified by the level of service, some families perceive the cost as high relative to value.

A small number of reviewers report more serious interpersonal concerns about staff conduct and limitations on family involvement; these comments suggest isolated but significant issues that warrant careful inquiry by prospective residents and families. Taken together, the overall picture is of a largely well-regarded community with strong caregiving, engaging programming, and a maintained environment, balanced by operational areas—communication, management consistency, staffing, and environmental safety—where prospective families should ask specific questions during tours and admissions discussions.
