    Warm, clean, affordable, highly recommended

I toured the community and felt instantly comfortable - Lee, Wendy and the staff are genuinely warm, dedicated and attentive. The facility is clean, affordable and home-like with comfortable private apartments, daily room cleaning, great meals and plenty of activities (animal visits, bingo, outings, chapel and sing-alongs). I'm very pleased and would happily recommend this community to others.

    Summary of reviews

Carefree Living Burnsville elicits a mix of strong positives and notable operational concerns. Many reviewers emphasize the facility's personable staff, comfortable private apartments, and an active social program; these strengths create a home-like atmosphere for residents who do not require high-acuity services. At the same time, multiple comments identify patterns of inconsistent clinical oversight and housekeeping execution that families should evaluate closely during a visit.

Staff and care: Staff interactions are frequently described as warm, welcoming, and individualized—residents and families noted helpful admissions staff, attentive housekeepers, and cooks who engage with residents. Housekeeping is often described as friendly and conscientious, with daily room cleaning noted as a positive. However, there are recurring concerns about variability in clinical-care quality, medication administration, and overall responsiveness. Reviewers also mention relatively high staff turnover, which contributes to inconsistent staffing and service delivery in some cases.

Dining and activities: The dining program is a clear strength for many families: three meals per day, a focus on prepared, healthier options, and positive comments about food quality. The activities calendar appears robust, with bingo, movies, piano sing-alongs, puzzles, card games, animal visits, outings to restaurants, and on-site chapel services cited. That said, some residents did not engage with activities or required more encouragement to participate, indicating variability in activity engagement and individualized programming.

Facilities and access: The property is described as comfortable, with a pleasant location and private, home-like apartments. Affordability and cost of living are advantages highlighted by prospective families. Conversely, the building shows signs of being older and less suitable for some mobility needs: small elevators, a multi-level layout, and other accessibility constraints were raised as limitations. Some reviewers also raised sanitation and cleanliness concerns in particular areas, which merits careful inspection during a tour.

Management and patterns to watch: Several families expressed dissatisfaction with communication and leadership responsiveness, citing delays, scheduling issues (long wait times and occasional no-shows), and a sense of uneven management follow-through. The facility also appears to have limited capacity to accommodate residents requiring consistent, full-time skilled care; families with spouses or partners needing higher-acuity support should confirm clinical capabilities before committing. Overall, the facility is recommended by many for its staff, community feel, and activities, but prospective residents and families should conduct targeted inquiries about medication protocols, staffing stability, sanitation practices, accessibility, and the ability to manage higher-acuity needs during the decision process.

    About Carefree Living Burnsville

Carefree Living Burnsville sits in a quiet, calm neighborhood with public transportation nearby, and the facility doesn't try to be fancy but feels comfortable and friendly. Staff members have been there for a long time, and folks living there get all types of support, whether they're mostly independent, need medium daily help, or have higher care needs, since about a third of residents fit into each group. The community gives three homemade meals every day, prepared by meal planners and chefs, which helps with meal costs, plus there are snacks available between meals, and residents eat together in dining areas that make it easy to talk. For those needing assisted living, staff help with daily things like bathing, getting dressed, using the bathroom, and medication, and there are aides on duty and nurses or doctors on call, so someone's always around if needed day or night.

Anyone needing help with transfers or who uses a wheelchair gets help, and the rooms have wheelchair-accessible showers; the building's designed with ramps and elevators, so getting around isn't too hard for folks with limited movement. Residents with diabetes get help monitoring their blood sugar, and those with incontinence receive needed care, since staff support all sorts of medical needs. Folks who struggle with memory or wander have a secured memory care wing, and bracelets ring alarms to keep people safe. Rooms have cables for internet and TV, and there's an emergency call button in every unit, so folks can call for help right away.

The building lets residents bring pets, has private, semi-private, and studio apartments, and rooms come with bathrooms, climate control, and television. Some units let folks move in with little furniture, while others offer more privacy, and on-site parking's available for those who still drive. Laundry, linen, and housekeeping services come included, with people often helping with cleaning every day. At Carefree Living Burnsville, social life happens in large lounge spaces, on outdoor patio and garden areas, and in places like the quiet library, arts and crafts room, barbershop, beauty salon, and even a chapel for regular services. Folks enjoy a busy schedule-games, crafts, musical groups, reading, off-site outings, and different events meant to help residents keep active and make friends.

Short-term respite care's available, so someone can stay just for a while if needed, and hospice care comes for those at end of life. The community supports folks who want to age in place, meaning once someone moves in, more nursing help, physical or occupational therapy, and personal care get added as needs change. Speech therapy, homecare, podiatrist visits, and even an on-site dentist are at hand, so most care's easily managed under one roof, keeping things simple for residents and their families. Staff don't mind explaining long-term care planning or answering questions about family caregiving either, so everyone knows what to expect.

Carefree Living Burnsville keeps its spaces clean, safe, and ready for adults ages 55 and up, and accepts both men and women as residents. The place feels peaceful, never noisy, giving folks who live there a chance to be as independent as possible but always with someone nearby if they need help.
