    Spotless building, caring staff, activities

I'm very pleased with our experience - the staff (Kristin was wonderful) are caring and professional, the building is spotless and like-new, and the apartments are spacious with upscale finishes. Meals are homemade and tasty, there are tons of activities (bingo, happy hours, gym, crafts, outings), and amenities like the salon, fitness center, library, and deli make daily life easy. Great location and supportive memory-care options; I'd recommend it to family and friends and appreciate the flexible month-to-month lease.

    Summary of reviews

Havenwood of Burnsville presents as a relatively new, well-appointed senior living community with a wide range of amenities and an active social program. Reviewers consistently highlight the building’s clean, like-new condition, modern finishes, and spacious apartment options with upscale kitchen appliances. Common on-site features include a salon, fitness center, library, theater, community and private party rooms, and dedicated memory-care spaces; these design elements support a variety of resident interests and social opportunities. The community’s central location and apartment safety features (for example, in-unit help buttons) are additional practical strengths.

Staffing and day-to-day care receive notable praise alongside some concerns. Many families and residents emphasize compassionate, resident-focused staff and engaged leadership — several reviewers named sales and nursing leaders who facilitated smooth move-ins and helped families navigate increasing care needs. The community’s memory-care team and nursing leadership are specifically cited as strengths, and families report that staff often know residents by name and provide personalized attention. At the same time, reviews point to operational weaknesses: inconsistent staffing coverage, occasional delays in clinical responsiveness, and gaps in family notification following incidents. There are also intermittent concerns about staff communication tone and behavior; these appear as isolated complaints but suggest a need for attention to staff conduct and training consistency.

Dining and activities are commonly described as positives. Multiple reviewers praise made-from-scratch meals, chef-prepared soups, and the social dining environment; meals are frequently included in base fees. The activities program is broad and active, with live music, movie nights, bingo, happy hours, clubs, and scheduled outings that contribute to resident engagement and increased independence for some residents. That said, a few reviewers noted variability in food experience and occasional extra charges for holiday or special meals, which prospective residents should clarify during financial discussions.

Facility operations and management show mixed signals. Many accounts commend thorough move-in support and a family-like atmosphere from sales and community staff, while others describe pressured admissions tactics, miscommunications during the admission process, and in one instance an admission cancellation tied to an allegation about resident behavior. There are also mentions of management turnover that temporarily disrupted therapy or services. Practical limitations include limited frequency of transportation to external stores, constrained outdoor/green space, and differences in apartment storage/closet sizing. Cost is described as competitive by some and expensive by others; transparency about fees and premium charges varies across reviews.

Overall, Havenwood of Burnsville appears to offer a high-quality physical environment, active programming, and numerous amenities supported by many attentive staff members. Prospective residents and families should verify operational details that influenced some negative feedback: ask about current staffing ratios and clinical response protocols, observe dining and activity periods, review the admission agreement and fee schedule (including holiday or premium charges), and inquire about recent management changes and continuity of therapy services. Speaking with current residents and families and requesting documentation on staffing and incident-communication procedures will help clarify whether the community’s strengths align with an individual’s expectations and care needs.

    About Havenwood of Burnsville

Havenwood of Burnsville sits in Burnsville, Minnesota near County Road 42 and I-35W, and you've got a big multi-story building with apartments made for people 55 and older who want a place built for seniors, and you won't find any big buy-in fees since it's a rental community so you pay as you go and don't sign up for years at a time, which makes things a little easier for a lot of folks who want flexibility in their living arrangements. Residents can choose different levels of support since you have independent living, assisted living, enhanced assisted living, memory care for people who need more help, as well as respite care for short stays after something like an injury or a surgery, and home care services that let people get non-medical help in their own apartment so they can stay put longer. For folks living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, memory care provides special housing, personal care plans, and staff who know how to help with confusion and wandering, and you'll see that medication reminders, laundry, and help with daily routines like bathing or dressing are all there if someone needs them, so there's a lot of peace of mind. The place has nurses on staff and a nurse available on call around the clock, meals are served, and you get wellness programs that encourage health and hobbies. There's always stuff happening, with things like games, bridge, puzzles, outings, parties, and all kinds of scheduled social, educational, and fitness programs meant to keep people active, so nobody has to sit alone unless they want to. You have cozy common areas both inside and outdoors, a spa, beauty and barber services, a crafts and art studio, a fitness center, a library, and communal dining spaces, and folks can bring their pets as it's pet-friendly, but there's no smoking inside private or public areas. Housekeeping comes regular, linen services are part of the deal, resident parking's available, and transportation helps folks get where they need to go, so living here removes a lot of those daily worries about chores or getting around town. Havenwood of Burnsville's managed by Life Care Services®, who run senior living places all over, and they've got programs called LCS Signature Experiences focused on safety, health, and a sense of family and community, so people have a high chance of meeting new friends and staying social. There's also an online portal for billing, which can make handling payments easier for residents or their families. Awards like Best of Senior Living show some people have found the care helpful, but what stands out is the variety here-active retired folks, people needing some help, and those who need more care can all find a place under the same roof, which makes it feel more like a real neighborhood than anything else.
