    Spotless facility with compassionate rehab

I had a very positive experience - the facility and rooms were spotless and hotel-like, with convenient underground parking and easy skyway access to the hospital. The staff (nurses, aides, therapists and administration) were competent, kind and responsive; PT/OT and nursing care helped my loved one regain mobility and thrive in the TCU. Between great meals, abundant activities, roomy suites with kitchenettes and strong admissions support, I would recommend this place for rehab and ongoing senior care.

    Summary of reviews

Feedback for Aurora on France is strongly mixed, with clear strengths in rehabilitation services, facilities, and certain clinical teams alongside recurring operational concerns. Many families praised the facility’s physical and occupational therapy programs and transitional-care unit, describing effective recovery-focused therapy, attentive therapists, and coordinated discharge planning. Admissions and administrative staff received frequent positive mentions for organization and helpfulness. The campus, rooms and common areas are often described as clean, modern and hotel-like, with conveniences such as in-room kitchenettes, large bathrooms, pleasant grounds, garage parking, and a direct skyway connection to the hospital.

Clinical care impressions vary. Several reviewers described compassionate nursing and caregiving staff and specific nurses or aides were singled out for exemplary care. At the same time, a notable portion of feedback identifies inconsistent staffing—particularly nights and weekends—which translated into delayed responses to call buttons, delays in medication or pain relief, and gaps in routine personal-care assistance and toileting support. Multiple comments raise concerns about medication administration and charting accuracy, as well as isolated equipment-management issues (for example, oxygen and alarm oversight). These operational weaknesses point to variability in training, supervision, and adherence to protocols across shifts and units.

Dining and activities are commonly cited as strengths: meal quality and variety, live music, and a robust activities calendar contribute to a sense of community and resident engagement. A few families noted limited vegetarian/fish options and an isolated allegation of foodborne illness; prospective residents should inquire about menu accommodations and food-safety practices. Social-work and discharge assistance received positive mention for navigating insurance and post-acute arrangements, although others experienced constraints related to network restrictions or insurance authorization that affected continuity of services.

Management and culture also show a split picture. Several reviews praise specific leaders and staff for responsiveness and hands-on problem solving. Conversely, recurring themes include inconsistent communication with families, limited follow-up after incidents, and concerns about front-desk or support-staff conduct. There are also several accounts raising cultural-sensitivity concerns and perceived differential treatment; these should be explored directly with leadership if important to a family.

For prospective residents and families: Aurora on France offers strong rehab capabilities, attractive facilities, and engaging programming, but reviewers advise careful due diligence regarding staffing stability, night/weekend coverage, call-response times, medication and documentation practices, equipment safeguards, and insurance/network limitations. An in-person visit focused on staffing patterns across shifts, observable response times, specific menu accommodations, and clarification of billing/transportation policies will help align expectations with the facility’s operational realities.

    About Aurora on France

Aurora on France sits at 6500 France Ave S in Edina, MN, right next to Fairview Southdale Hospital and close to shopping, restaurants, and parks, so you don't have to go far for what you need, and it's surrounded by a nice natural pond out back that you can look out at when you want a bit of peace. The building's got controlled access for safety and offers onsite and underground garage parking if you want, though that garage does have a monthly fee. They let you bring small pets under 30 pounds, and you'll find both dog and cat amenities here, which can mean a lot for folks who don't want to move without their animals. For visitors, there's guest parking, which comes in handy, and the place is faith-based, so you'll find some spiritual support along with day-to-day services.

The community's got a lot of housing choices, from studios and one-bedroom units all the way up to two-bedroom apartments, and even a few with a den if you've got a hobby or just need the space, plus private rooms for those who want more privacy. They offer independent living for folks who want to keep busy without worrying about home upkeep, and assisted living for people who need help with things like bathing, dressing, or remembering their pills. There's also a secured memory care unit for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, and it's built to help keep residents safe from wandering. For folks who need extra help after a hospital stay, they offer transitional care with skilled nurses and specialists, and there's a respite or short-term stay option if you just need care for a little while.

Basic services include housekeeping, laundry (either self-serve or done for you), and a response system in every apartment for emergencies. You can get nutritious meals made by chefs, but for independent and assisted living, meals cost extra and there's more to check for memory care, and for folks who like to be out and about, there's scheduled transportation in a van. Laundry gets handled several ways, so you can do it yourself or have someone help, and linens are included. They've got a nurse on staff, and they can take care of folks who are non-ambulatory, need help with diabetes, or need incontinence care.

Aurora on France also offers a bunch of social programs and activities for all levels, with devotional services, crafts, and both on- and off-site outings-so many people find the activity calendar full and the staff friendly, and the building's got some handy common rooms, a beauty salon, and plenty of comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces to gather or just watch the pond. The facility accepts private payment and Elderly Waiver, and with things like family-friendly amenities, outdoor spaces, parks, and art centers nearby, folks find there's something for many interests. This place doesn't claim to be perfect, but it does try to cover most needs in senior living, from independent life to skilled nursing and memory care, and that makes it a solid choice for older adults in the Edina area.
