    Caring attentive staff, excellent meals

I'm very pleased with this small, home-like community-staff are caring, attentive, and treat residents like family. My mom loves her spacious apartment, the meals are excellent, activities are engaging, and leadership is responsive. Overall a comforting, high-quality experience that I would recommend.

    Summary of reviews

NorBella Senior Living - Savage presents as a small, newly built community with many families praising the staff culture and several operational strengths. Reviewers frequently described caregivers as warm, attentive, and family-oriented; licensed nurses and the activities leadership receive consistent positive mention. Physical plant strengths include modern construction, generally clean common areas, roomy apartments, and accessible transportation and amenities (for example, on-site haircuts and pet-friendly activities). Numerous families described tailored, person-centered care and, in several cases, rapid willingness to accommodate individual needs.

Care quality appears mixed across reviewers. A substantial number of families praised individualized attention and a high level of hands-on support, while others raised concerns about assessment accuracy, supervisory oversight, and safety practices. Those concerns cluster around delays in responding to call lights, gaps in supervision that contributed to resident falls, and inconsistencies in medication handling and documentation. These items suggest variability in clinical oversight and safety processes rather than uniform failure or success; prospective families should confirm current staffing patterns, RN coverage, and fall-prevention protocols during a tour.

Staffing and operations are recurring themes. Positive comments about a caring, family-like staff coexist with repeated mentions of short-staffing, weekend operational confusion, and delayed responses to concerns. Activity programming is another mixed area: the community has an active and well-regarded activities director and a variety of on-site options (crafts, dogs, wheelchair-friendly transportation), but families also described fewer off-property outings and activity cancellations when staffing was limited. Housekeeping and laundry practices were described inconsistently — some reviewers called the facility exceptionally clean, while others reported uneven room cleaning frequency and disorganized laundry handling.

Dining is generally reported as a strength by many families, who describe excellent meals and attentive dining service; however, several comments point to inconsistency in menu variety and portions (examples include repetitive side items). Facility and equipment issues were mentioned in a few reviews, including HVAC noise in specific assisted-living units and isolated equipment problems. There were also a number of administrative concerns: billing miscommunications, move-in coordination problems (particularly on weekends or during ownership transition), and occasional slow follow-up to family questions. Some reviewers noted that these issues improved over time as management addressed them.

Notable operational patterns to weigh: (1) staff warmth and individualized attention are prominent advantages, especially in a smaller community where staff know residents; (2) inconsistent staffing levels and communication lapses create variability in responsiveness, activities delivery, housekeeping, and clinical oversight; and (3) dining and amenities are often highlighted as high points but are not uniformly experienced. For families considering this community, recommend asking targeted questions about current staff-to-resident ratios by shift, on-duty licensed nursing coverage, documented fall-prevention protocols, housekeeping and laundry schedules, medication-management procedures, activity calendars with off-site outings, transportation usage policies, and typical billing practices and move-in logistics. These queries will help clarify whether the operational gaps noted in reviews have been resolved and whether the facility’s strengths align with a prospective resident’s needs.

About NorBella Senior Living - Savage

NorBella Senior Living - Savage is a newer senior living community located just off Egan Drive, right beside a quiet neighborhood and near River Bend Park in Savage, Minnesota, so you don't have to worry much about noise or crowds, and the area's pretty peaceful and filled with greenery. The building itself looks like a sprawling stone-front ranch-style home, and there are only sixteen apartments in the memory care area, which means the community feels pretty small and private, so residents get more individual attention. Residents can choose from private bedrooms and bathrooms, and the apartments come with nine-foot ceilings, large windows for plenty of daylight, and useful kitchenettes with new appliances, quartz counters, and soft-close drawers, which all make the place feel a bit more like a regular home, not an institution, and people seem to appreciate that.

The staff use a personalized approach to care, including both assisted living and memory care. They help with daily tasks and provide high-acuity care if needed, and support is always available, day or night. The team from Odom Rehab and Odom Health & Wellness works with residents, so there's a focus on both mental and physical exercises to help everyone stay active and independent as long as possible. Residents don't have to worry about chores like cleaning or laundry, since the community offers regular housekeeping, laundry services, and even takes care of home maintenance like the yard, which relieves a lot of the everyday stress for seniors who just want to relax in their later years.

Food is a big part of life at NorBella. There's an in-house chef who prepares scratch-cooked, nutritious meals. They even do cooking demonstrations, nutrition seminars, and special dishes for the holidays, so residents can enjoy good food and sometimes learn about healthy eating. Specialized diets are available too.

Community life is a real focus. Residents can take part in organized social outings, backyard barbecues, card games, bingo nights, puzzles, and even scheduled trips to local shops and restaurants nearby, which helps everyone stay social and keeps life interesting. Luxurious gathering spaces give everyone a spot to meet up, talk, or celebrate, and there's Wi-Fi and satellite TV everywhere for those who want to catch up on news or stay in touch with family. Pets are welcome, and the place is built so it's accessible for everyone, with features for those who need a bit of extra physical help.

The atmosphere feels home-like, warm, and caring, and the staff spend time getting to know each person, so they can better support residents not just with health needs, but emotionally and socially too. There's a strong effort made here to help everyone build real relationships, find new friends, and keep learning or problem-solving, whether it's through formal programs or just small daily interactions. NorBella is part of the Lifespark Management Co., and with all their amenities and social programs, they seem to want people to feel comfortable, respected, and safe, while giving enough freedom to enjoy life, make new connections, and leave plenty of the old daily worries behind.
