    Small comfortable apartments; caring staff

I'm very pleased with this small, clean, comfortable place - well-planned apartments, great food, and friendly, helpful staff who even assisted my mother over Christmas. I feel safe at night, help is always available, and my family is truly grateful.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewers present a mixed impression of care quality. Positive comments emphasize a small, comfortable setting with moments of attentive caregiving, useful holiday support, and apartments that families found well planned and secure at night. However, a prominent pattern in negative feedback points to inconsistent clinical processes: medication administration and timely pain management are frequently described as unreliable, and call bells and requests for assistance are often delayed. Several accounts raise concerns about gaps in assistance with eating and personal care, which together suggest inconsistent execution of basic activities-of-daily-living support.

Staff behavior and staffing levels are a recurring theme. While some families describe individual caregivers as friendly and helpful, others cite concerns about communication tone and responsiveness from nursing and administrative personnel. Understaffing and organizational inconsistency are commonly inferred from reports of missed meals, unattended needs, and limited therapy services. These operational weaknesses appear linked to variability in resident experience: families who encountered stable, attentive staff reported satisfactory care, whereas families interacting with different shifts or leaders reported more problems.

Dining, facilities, and safety receive mixed comments. Several reviewers describe acceptable or enjoyable meals, but many note poor meal-temperature control, inconsistent preparation, and service lapses. Environmental issues include temperature-control problems, limited linen/towel availability, sanitation concerns, and pest-control issues. Accessibility and transfer-safety concerns are raised in relation to mobility equipment and site maintenance, indicating potential hazards for residents who use wheelchairs or require assistance with transfers.

Management and administration are focal points for criticism. Reviewers describe difficulties obtaining timely resolutions to complaints, inconsistent follow-through on reported incidents, and organizational disorganization in the office. There are also serious references to alleged financial misconduct and legal actions; these items are significant and families should seek independent verification through official records or regulatory bodies. Conversely, some families praise specific managers or staff members for responsiveness and for creating a sense of safety at night.

Overall, Parkside Manor appears to offer a small, community-oriented environment with staff and features that can meet residents' needs in some cases. At the same time, recurring themes — inconsistent medication and meal management, variable staff conduct, staffing shortages, sanitation/pest-control issues, accessibility and transfer-safety gaps, and administrative weaknesses — merit careful attention. Prospective residents and families should conduct in-person visits across multiple shifts, review medication and incident-management policies, inspect apartment and common-area cleanliness and accessibility, ask about staffing ratios and therapy availability, and consult regulatory inspection records before making a placement decision.

    About Parkside Manor

Parkside Manor stands as a senior living community that serves people aged 55 and older, offering a wide range of services including assisted living, independent living, skilled nursing, home care, respite care, and memory care through its dedicated Alzheimer's Special Care Unit, so when someone moves into Parkside Manor, they can find personal care and support for many health needs and living situations, and families can take a virtual tour or schedule a visit to see the community in person, see the facility's comfort, and meet the team before making a decision. The facility provides amenities like transportation services, an on-site beauty salon, therapeutic whirlpools, pharmacy services, nutritious meals with flexible dining times, and a safe, friendly environment where residents can have friends and relatives visit, share meals, and continue family traditions, making daily life feel home-like and comfortable while also providing resident access to personal phones and community areas for social, educational, and fun activities planned for everyone's well-being. Parkside Manor focuses on health and wellness services, personalized care plans, and a culture change philosophy that allows residents to decide daily routines according to their preferences, with the staff offering services in skilled nursing, rehabilitation therapy, behavioral care, hospice, Alzheimer's care, and managing personal needs with choices whenever possible, all while physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being gets special attention from the compassionate and qualified team supervised by Physician Medical Directors. The community makes available an Info Library covering housing, crisis support, career steps, basic needs, finances, and health and wellness, and there are special support services at Parkside Manor such as Housing Coaching, Path Forward, Financial Coaching, and help for homeownership to support independence, along with transportation and job coaching for those needing it. Friends and families can rest easier knowing there's 24-hour access for concerns or suggestions and that staff stay available to help and keep the environment inviting and up to date for residents to enjoy, although inspection reports have documented 44 deficiencies, including six infection-related issues and trouble providing enough licensed nursing staff on each shift, as well as problems with resident assessment practices and implementing a complete antibiotic use monitoring program, making it important for families to weigh the care level and ask questions during a visit if they're concerned about inspection findings or nurse coverage, since the nurse turnover rate is higher than average and the nurse hours per resident are a bit lower than what's found in most facilities. The direct owners, James Lincoln and Judy Lincoln, have each held 50% ownership, with Ltc Management Services LLC in operational control since 2015, and Parkside Manor typically cares for around 67 residents per day across its 120 certified beds, using a range of professional, medical, and support services for seniors. The community maintains a mission to meet every resident's needs through personalized, comprehensive, and quality care under physician supervision while encouraging autonomy and well-being in every daily decision, and families can explore every detail, feature, and service by scheduling a tour to see if Parkside Manor fits their loved one's needs.
