    Gorgeous building and attentive staff

I placed my dad here and have been very pleased. The gorgeous, new building is peaceful, spotless, and full of amenities. Care is good and the staff are loving and attentive-Kristina and Cindy (an amazing nurse) stood out. It has a positive reputation among families; I'd recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

The reviewer feedback presents a mixed picture. On the positive side, the facility's physical plant and public spaces are repeatedly described as new, attractive and well maintained; reviewers highlight modern amenities, a peaceful atmosphere and high cleanliness standards. Multiple comments single out nursing staff and certain caregivers for compassionate, attentive care, which supports an overall perception of solid frontline clinical caregiving in many day-to-day situations.

At the same time, there are important concerns about staff conduct and communication. Comments describe instances where family interactions with staff were tense or handled poorly, including episodes in which families felt excluded or were asked to leave. Separately, one or more reviews raise end-of-life care concerns; these suggest gaps in coordination, communication with family members, and expectations around how final-phase care is managed. Taken together, these remarks indicate variability in interpersonal care and family engagement even as clinical caregiving receives praise in other respects.

The available feedback does not include substantive detail about dining or activity programs, so neither strength nor weakness can be confidently asserted in those areas from these reviews alone. Prospective families should request sample menus, observe a meal service, and review the facilityโ€™s activity schedule and participation rates during a tour to assess fit.

Facility amenities and maintenance are clear strengths: the building, furnishings and common areas are consistently described as attractive and clean. Management-level issues are less clear but worth exploring: the contrast between positive remarks about particular staff members and the reports of problematic family interactions suggests inconsistent staff training, supervision, or protocols around family communication and end-of-life processes.

Notable patterns for prospective residents and families to probe further include staff communication style and conflict-resolution practices, formal end-of-life care policies and family-notification procedures, and consistency of staffing and professionalism across shifts. When evaluating the community, ask to meet nursing leadership, review written policies for family presence and end-of-life planning, request references from current families, and observe staffโ€“family interactions during a visit to better understand whether the strengths observed by other families are consistent and whether the communication concerns have been addressed.

    About Tabitha in Crete

Tabitha in Crete is a nursing home and part of the Tabitha Residences, offering care for seniors in a more personal, small-home setting, where each residence is home to nine to seventeen people so everyone gets plenty of attention and help, and they were the first in Nebraska to move away from large, old-fashioned nursing homes by making small, comfortable homes instead, and the caregiving teams help folks with all the daily things like bathing, dressing, taking medicine, and getting around, and there's always someone available day and night thanks to the 24-hour call system and emergency safety features, so people can feel secure. The suites are roomy with full private bathrooms and basic furniture like a bed, dresser, nightstand, TV, lamp, and phone, and the large floor plans make it easier for families to visit and spend time together, which is encouraged here. The houses at Tabitha in Crete look and feel like real homes, offering meals prepared in full kitchens that fit the residents' likes and dietary needs, with everyone having the choice to eat in their rooms or the community dining area, and laundry and housekeeping are provided for all the residents, so that's handled too. Each house has places for arts and crafts, walking paths outside, a garden, and even a barber or salon for simple comforts, along with regular movie nights, resident-run activities, and events from the local community, which gives everyone ways to stay busy but also have choice. Skilled nursing and long-term care are both available, including rehabilitation for those recovering from surgery or illness, home health care, memory care, respite care, and even hospice when needed, and they accept Medicare, Medicaid, and other approved health coverage. Tabitha has been helping Nebraska seniors since 1886 and is a nonprofit, focused on making sure people can age with dignity-so they also give advice about long-term care, family caregiving, and insurance if families ask. Special teams work with each resident to set schedules, choose activities, and plan meals around personal needs or health goals, making it all pretty resident-directed, and there's strong support for folks with memory problems. Tabitha in Crete is part of a larger network so people can find assisted living, skilled nursing, home health care, hospice, or independent living, all under one nonprofit group that's been at it for a long time, and they're known for compassion and the close attention they give to every individual, especially in these small-home settings.
