    Exceptional rehab care restored independence

I stayed in the rehab unit after hip surgery and was impressed - the grounds and interiors feel like a high-end hotel, rooms are spotless, meals exceeded my expectations, and there's even a nice bird-watching area. The entire team - nursing, PT/OT, social work, housekeeping and admin - was professional, warm and truly caring; therapy helped me regain independence and I went home fully independent. I felt safe, supported and treated like family, and I highly recommend the Ambassador caring team.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for Ambassador Health of Lincoln are highly polarized. Many families describe positive experiences centered on rehabilitation, therapy staff, and individual caregivers; others describe sustained operational and clinical concerns. Overall, the facility appears to deliver strong therapy-driven recoveries for some residents but exhibits inconsistent performance in basic clinical and custodial areas.

Care quality: Strengths appear in structured rehabilitation services — several accounts describe effective PT/OT, good therapy equipment, and measurable progress toward independence. At the same time, a number of accounts raise concerns about medication management, delayed clinical follow-up, pain control delays, and episodes that resulted in hospital readmission. There are also repeated mentions of gaps in monitoring (including fall risk management) and incontinence-care timeliness. There are a few serious allegations related to medication errors and care lapses; families should treat these as high-priority topics to investigate directly with facility leadership.

Staff: Staff performance is uneven. Reviewers commonly praise individual caregivers, therapists, and some nursing staff as compassionate and attentive; those team members are frequently credited with positive rehab outcomes and emotional support. Conversely, there are recurring reports of understaffing, slow response to call lights or requests for assistance, and a subset of staff described as curt or condescending. Multiple comments indicate staff burnout and turnover that appear to impair day-to-day responsiveness and continuity of care.

Dining and activities: Dining is often cited as a relative strength — many reviewers found the food better than expected and appreciated customized meal options. However, there are also reports of cold meal delivery to rooms and interruptions to activity participation, particularly during infection-control restrictions. When available, social programming and outdoor access (e.g., bird-watching) are noted as meaningful for resident engagement.

Therapy and rehab: Therapy services receive frequent praise for effectiveness and individualized attention, with several families reporting successful discharges back to independence after hip and other surgeries. Some reviewers, however, felt therapy was constrained by scheduling, payer-driven limitations, or inconsistent therapist follow-through; prospective residents should clarify therapy goals and expected intensity up front.

Facilities and cleanliness: The facility’s public areas and recently renovated spaces earn positive comments for appearance and comfort from some visitors. At the same time, reviewers report variability in room cleanliness, mattress/cushioning concerns, and pest-control issues in certain units. These mixed observations suggest maintenance and sanitation practices may be uneven across the campus.

Management and communication: Several reviews express frustration with administrative transparency — unclear admission policies, questions about Medicaid/financial acceptance, inconsistent visitation/tour processes, and reports of poor communication in care meetings. There are also comments about workplace culture concerns (including allegations of inappropriate conduct between staff), which some families link to inconsistent care.

Notable patterns and guidance for families: The comments indicate a split experience: a core of strong clinical and therapy capabilities exists alongside recurring operational weaknesses (staffing, medication controls, monitoring, and maintenance). Prospective residents and families would be advised to (1) tour the specific unit they will occupy, (2) ask about current staffing ratios and on-shift clinical coverage, (3) review medication-administration protocols and incident reporting, (4) confirm therapy schedules and expected discharge goals, and (5) request documentation on sanitation, pest-control, and fall-prevention programs. Where there are significant clinical vulnerabilities or financial questions (e.g., Medicaid acceptance), obtain written clarification before placement.

    About Ambassador Health of Lincoln

Ambassador Health of Lincoln is a for-profit health care provider that's been family-owned and locally operated for over forty years, and they care for an average of about 72 residents a day within a facility that has 122 certified beds, so you might notice it's a busy place but not too crowded. The facility gives 24-hour skilled nursing care and helps with recovery after a hospital stay, focusing on both short-term rehab and extended care for people who need to stay longer. People can find both private suites and semi-private rooms, and the set-up supports safe transitions home, which is helpful when getting back on your feet. Ambassador Health of Lincoln provides adult pulmonary and ventilator specialty care, and there's an entire pulmonary unit with in-wall oxygen and its own entrance, which isn't something you see everywhere. There's also on-site hemodialysis for those who need it and special care for winding and healing wounds, including Wound V.A.C. therapy. The team manages tracheostomy and enteral feeding, offers IV therapy, and provides care for people with traumatic brain injuries, so they handle a variety of complex needs. Their rehabilitation services use things like the AlterG Anti-Gravity Rehabilitation Treadmill, and therapy goes beyond just the basics, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as nutritional counseling, all through Spectrum Rehabilitation. People here get access to certified dietary and pharmacy services, too, and there's advanced respiratory therapy on site. Extended care covers things like post-acute cardiac rehab, help after orthopedic injuries, and ventilator weaning. Assisted living and independent living options are also available, along with pediatric specialty care, so it's not only for seniors. The community is Medicare and Medicaid certified. The place says it supports physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness, and the aim is to create a person-centered environment where people feel respected while they're healing or living long-term.
