Old Cheney Rehabilitation helps people recover and get back their independence after illness, injury, or surgery, and the place supports those needing care for heart attacks, bypass surgeries, pacemaker placements, heart failure, and COPD, plus they help those recovering from strokes, brain aneurysms, joint replacements, and all sorts of spine surgeries, like fusion and decompression, with skilled nurses on hand twenty-four hours a day, backed by a team that gives people lots of one-on-one attention-more than most, actually, because they want to make sure people can heal quickly and get stronger in their own time. The suites are private and roomy, and the rooms come with restaurant-style dining right to the bedside, high-definition TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi and phone, and there's a full-service hair salon right there for some pampering when you feel up to it, and a library stocked up with books and a Wii gaming console for a bit of entertainment or distraction, since recovery can take time and it's good to have options. There's transportation to medical appointments, which helps a lot when getting around isn't easy, and their therapy services go deep, offering physical, occupational, respiratory, and speech help, whether it's relearning to use a limb, finding the right words after a stroke, or regaining movement after a big surgery. The staff includes nurses, therapists, and doctors who really do work together, whether managing medicines, helping with wound care and pain, or tackling IVs and catheters, and they get called compassionate and accommodating by many, since they stick around to help until the job's done and someone's feeling more like themselves. The whole place feels a bit like a retreat, all meant to be comforting and warm without being fancy just for show, and you can tell there's a focus on creating a home-like feel so the time passes easier and everyone gets the support needed, with the administrative director and a CEO running things behind the scenes. They care about helping people get well, build up their strength, and recover with dignity, and most folks rest a little easier knowing there's always someone there if needed, day or night, and that matters when you're thinking about your next steps or where to go for rehab.

Excellent therapy, staff; communication variable
I had a largely positive rehab experience: the staff were loving, attentive and caring, the therapy team (PT/OT/ST) was excellent and helped me regain strength and independence, and the facility is clean, bright and well-designed. Nurses and many aides provided personal, genuine care. However, management and communication were inconsistent - family calls and billing/Medicaid matters were confusing and sometimes unanswered - and there were safety/response issues (call light placement hard to reach on my left side, slow overnight aide response). Food and nighttime care quality varied. I'd recommend the rehab for therapy and compassionate staff but advise close monitoring of communication, safety and meals.
