    Warm attentive staff, beautiful campus

I moved my mom here and have been very pleased - the staff are warm, attentive, and consistently go above and beyond, coordinating a smooth move-in and keeping communication clear. The campus is beautiful, spotless and well-maintained, with hotel-like rooms, salon services, a gym, and plenty of engaging activities. Dining is excellent with professional servers and an appealing menu, and clinical care is professional and responsive - issues are handled quickly. Overall I feel confident and grateful for the compassionate, well-organized care my family and I receive.

    Summary of reviews

The Addison of Cherry Hill elicits a mixture of strong praise and significant operational concerns. Positively, reviewers commonly highlight an upscale, hotel-like physical environment with well-decorated public spaces, spacious apartment-style suites (many with walk-in closets and kitchenettes), and an extensive amenity set that includes a movie theater, fitness area, salon, courtyard features, and restaurant-style dining. The community offers on-site clinical resources such as nursing staff, weekly physician visits, hospice services, and rehabilitation/therapy, and many families cite helpful move-in coordination and concierge-style support that eased transitions.

Care and staffing present a mixed picture. Numerous accounts describe caring, attentive caregivers and nursing staff who provide compassionate support, regular medication management, and timely clinical attention in many cases. At the same time, a recurring operational theme is high staff turnover and periods of understaffing that correlate with delayed responses to call buttons, longer waits for assistance, and variable continuity of caregivers. There are also isolated but consequential concerns about clinical oversight and emergency responsiveness that prospective families should evaluate in person.

Dining and activities are generally strengths: the community offers restaurant-style dining, frequent menu changes, events, and a wide schedule of social, cultural, and therapeutic activities that many residents find engaging. However, reviewers also describe variability in food quality and service timeliness, and some report cutbacks or inconsistency in menu offerings. The activity program and communal life are often cited as major contributors to resident satisfaction.

Physical plant and memory-care environment are areas of divergence. Many reviewers praise bright, spacious common areas and well-maintained suites, while other accounts point to maintenance backlogs (delayed repairs, cosmetic neglect in some units), inconsistent cleanliness in certain areas, and navigation challenges in a large, converted-hotel layout. The memory-care unit attracts frequent criticism for dimly lit dining areas, limited outdoor shade, and color/lighting choices perceived as somber — factors that may affect residents with cognitive impairment.

Management, communication, and financial transparency are notable patterns to consider. Several families describe positive, proactive leadership and clear communication from care teams, while others describe frequent leadership turnover, slow front-desk responsiveness, outdated resident apps/documentation, and concerns about fee increases or inconsistently applied care-level charges. There are also serious allegations from some families regarding involuntary discharges and disputes over billing or access to records; these appear in a minority of accounts but are significant and warrant direct verification with administrative leadership and review of contractual/financial terms.

Recommendation: The Addison of Cherry Hill may be a strong fit for prospective residents who prioritize amenities, social programming, and an upscale living environment and who will benefit from on-site clinical and hospice resources. Families should tour the specific neighborhoods (assisted living vs. memory care), ask about current staffing ratios and turnover, observe meal service at peak times, inspect memory-care dining and outdoor spaces for daylight and shade, and review contract language on fees, level-of-care changes, and discharge policies. Verifying recent staffing metrics, maintenance response times, and examples of clinical incident follow-up from administration will help assess whether the community’s operational performance aligns with family expectations.

About The Addison of Cherry Hill

The Addison of Cherry Hill provides assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and several other care types, so if someone needs help with daily activities, specialized memory care for dementia or Alzheimer's, or even hospice and respite care, the team there is set up to handle it all, and they've got nurses on staff around the clock, doctors on call, and use technology like alarm bracelets for wandering safety. The place has a 4.0 star rating, and people usually say the staff is kind and helpful, which matters as much as anything, and the building itself has a purpose-built, secured wing for memory care so folks with memory loss or those prone to wandering get a safer setup, while all apartments have emergency systems, cable TV, phones, and small fridges-plus wheelchair accessible showers and no smoking anywhere inside, in private or public spaces.

You'll find studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments and there's a variety of common areas, both indoors and outdoors, including a secured courtyard, walking paths for fitness, a movie theater, a billiards room, and a fire pit for relaxing outside. Meals are chef-prepared and served in the restaurant-style dining room or as room service, and there are vegetarian options, special dietary plans like low-sodium and low-sugar, private dining rooms for special events, a Bistro & Bar with happy hour, coffee, and a hydration station, and residents who want a more casual atmosphere can join in dinner outings and movies. Pets are allowed, so you'll sometimes see a cat or a dog, and there's on-site beauty and barber services, weekly housekeeping, laundry, high-speed internet, and utilities included.

The community runs a big calendar of events like Tai Chi, yoga, art and gardening classes, intergenerational activities, game clubs, travel and book clubs, educational lectures, music programs, community service projects, and creative workshops, designed to keep folks active and connected, and there are devotional services if someone wants those. The fitness center runs daily exercise and wellness programs, and the therapy staff gives personalized plans for physical, occupational, and speech therapy, plus preventive health screenings, and the medical staff handles things like medication reminders, injections, blood sugar checks for diabetics, and care for residents with conditions like incontinence, as long as they can help themselves. The whole building and grounds are wheelchair accessible, and the team accepts folks who might wander or act out physically, so safety steps like computerized alerts protect everyone.

Transportation to doctor visits or errands is complimentary, and the property has valet and resident parking for those who keep a car. People can choose their own floor plan and have a say in lifestyle options, including male- or female-only living. The staff helps with daily activities, reminders, and supervision 24 hours a day, and residents can join activities or just enjoy their own space, since privacy and support are both prioritized. Housekeeping, personal laundry, and grocery delivery make daily life easier. The Addison is Medicare-certified for home health and offers home care, adult day services, independent living, rehabilitation, and long-term care, so as needs change, residents can get more or less support without moving. The goal of the community is to give seniors a safe, active place where they keep dignity and independence as much as possible, and most folks say there's a warm sense of belonging thanks to the joyful and friendly staff who help make it all work.
