    Peaceful community with caring staff

I'm very pleased with this clean, beautifully updated, peaceful community - spacious, nicely appointed rooms and an attractive lobby with a fireplace. The staff are warm, professional and genuinely caring; engaging activities, chapel access, park outings and good meals keep residents active. It feels like one big family with solid medical support and comprehensive life-care options, and I plan to stay long-term.

Multiple reviewers highlight a combination of warm, faith-based community culture and modern, well-maintained facilities. Sentiment trends strongly toward satisfaction with both the physical environment and the human care provided. Several comments express that Windmere feels like a true home for residents rather than an institutional setting, and many reviewers indicate high confidence in the facility as a long-term living option for seniors.

Staff and care quality A dominant theme across reviews is praise for the staff: reviewers describe caregivers as kind, compassionate, attentive and professional. Specific phrases such as 'genuine care,' 'warm smiles,' and 'supportive and compassionate care' recur, and families credit staff with making good medical decisions (one reviewer called out good medical decisions made for a parent). The staff appear to create a strong sense of trust and safety; people mention feeling well taken care of and repeatedly describe the community as loving and family-like. Several reviews note that the facility is well-staffed and that staff members are accommodating — even small touches like offering a water bottle were noticed and appreciated.

Facilities, layout and environment Reviewers consistently emphasize the attractive, updated physical environment. Descriptions include 'beautifully designed,' 'recently updated,' 'spacious,' and 'nicely appointed.' The lobby with a fireplace, soothing color palettes and newly added wings are mentioned as contributing factors to a comfortable, home-like atmosphere. The property is described as clean and well-laid out, with both communal and private spaces that feel welcoming. Features such as a big auditorium, accessible chapel, and new acute-care rooms (own rooms in the acute care section) are singled out as useful amenities that support resident needs and enrich daily life.

Dining and activities Food and social programming are other strong positives. Multiple reviewers call the meals 'delicious' and praise the menus as 'amazing' or 'excellent.' Activities receive frequent positive mention: reviewers highlight a range of programs, outings (such as park trips), storyteller or resident-focused events (references to 'Gretchen's stories' and 'Burt'), and regular opportunities for engagement. Transport options like bus service are also noted, making off-site activities accessible. Overall, programming seems to support active, socially engaged senior living.

Care model, management and notable services Windmere's Christian orientation and chapel access are repeatedly noted as important to residents and families, helping shape community life and spiritual care. Several reviewers mention 'Life Care' or 'state-of-the-art Life Care,' indicating appreciation for integrated or long-term care planning options. Cleanliness, professional management, and responsiveness are repeatedly praised, and some reviewers explicitly say they would choose to live there long-term. There are specific anecdotes about family members receiving compassionate support and appropriate clinical decisions, which reinforces the impression of competent management and clinical oversight.

Patterns, strengths and absence of concerns Across these summaries the most consistent strengths are staff compassion and professionalism, attractive and updated facilities, strong dining and activity programs, and a supportive Christian community feel. Reviewers use superlatives like 'best place around for assisted living,' 'wonderful community,' and 'amazing' to convey high satisfaction. Notably, the provided summaries contain no recurring criticisms or specific negative comments; reviewers do not raise consistent concerns about care quality, safety, maintenance, staffing levels, or cost. This absence of negatives in the sampled summaries suggests a uniformly positive perception among those reviewers, though it should be interpreted cautiously since summaries reflect selected highlights.

Conclusion In sum, Windmere is portrayed as a well-run, compassionate, and attractive senior community with strong faith-based programming, excellent staff-resident relationships, good food, varied activities and modern facilities. Families and residents in these summaries feel comfortable recommending Windmere and many express intent to live there long-term. The dominant narrative is one of trust, warmth and high-quality care in a clean, well-appointed environment.

About Windmere, a Christian Health Community

Windmere, a Christian Health Community, sits in a quiet, park-like area of North Haledon, NJ, and gives older adults the chance to enjoy nature while getting the support they need. The grounds are spacious, with gardens, a courtyard, and a gazebo, so residents can watch birds or just relax outside. Franklin Lakes Nature Preserve, Bridal Veil Falls, and Laurelwood Arboretum are close by for those who enjoy fishing, walking, or boating.

The community is a nonprofit Continuing Care Retirement Community-also called a CCRC-serving adults mostly 65 and up, though most care focuses on those 75 and older. It's run by Christian Health and carries on a tradition from 1895, with a mission focused on Christian values and a sense of belonging. The place is set up for independent living, but if needs change, residents can move to higher levels of care like assisted living, skilled nursing care at Mountain View at Windmere, or even memory care. Nurses are always available, and there's a medical director, dietitian, therapists, and chaplains who provide support. Private apartments have bathrooms, and residents can expect housekeeping, daily meals, and medication management.

There's a strong feeling of home here, with cozy common spaces, a library, fitness center, and a chapel for services and Bible study. The week fills up with group activities-arts and crafts, games, book clubs, exercise classes, and entertainment-and there are trips planned, too. Pastoral Care helps those who want to stay connected with their faith.

Windmere makes space for social life and encourages friendships through communal meals and shared activities. The staff aims to build a culture of respect and purpose, supporting residents' independence for as long as possible. Life plan options like The Vista mean people don't have to worry about moving if they need more help later on. For those who need a short stay, respite care is available to give family caregivers a break.

The Groenewal Brothers are part of the community's history, and there's a campaign called Spirit of Progress to keep things moving forward with facility improvements. Amenities like cable TV, 24-hour staff, and on-site health care cover the basics so residents can focus on enjoying each day. Programs are designed to help folks take charge of their lives and stay engaged, whether they're fishing at a nearby park or joining a Bible study in the sunroom. As a faith-based, nonprofit organization, Windmere is committed to supporting both body and spirit, making sure each person feels at home while they age in place with the chance to adjust care as needed.
