    Compassionate dependable care for dad

I chose Chestnut Hill for my dad and have been very pleased - compassionate, hands-on staff from admissions through nursing and CNAs, an immaculate, well-lit facility, tasty nutritious meals in an accessible dining room, and strong activities and rehab teams. The administration and team communicated well, listened to family concerns, and treated my loved one like family. Overall a very good, dependable place for short- or long-term care.

    Summary of reviews

Feedback for Complete Care at Chestnut Hill is highly mixed, with clear and repeated themes on both sides. Many families and visitors praise compassionate caregivers, visible on-floor staff, and strong clinical contributors such as experienced RNs and rehabilitation therapists. At the same time, a number of accounts describe variability in day-to-day care quality and in how the facility responds to family questions or clinical incidents.

Care and staffing present the most salient pattern. Positive comments emphasize attentive, personable aides, skilled nurses, and an engaged therapy team that has produced demonstrable short-term rehab improvements. Conversely, concerns center on inconsistent staff training, signs of understaffing or high workload, and variability between shifts or units. Several families described instances where explanations for clinical events or changes in condition were unclear, and others noted problems with loss or misplacement of personal items and assistive equipment. These issues point to operational gaps in staff training, handoffs, and property-management procedures rather than a single uniform level of service across the facility.

Dining, activities, and therapy also show divergence. Therapy and rehab services receive repeated positive remarks for effectiveness and responsiveness. Activity staff and programming are commended in many accounts, and common areas are described as bright and welcoming; however, some families specifically flagged limited or nonexistent activity programming in certain memory-care areas. Dining feedback ranges from praise for responsive kitchen staff and good guest meals to comments about inconsistent food quality for residents.

Facility condition and management impressions are similarly mixed. Many reviewers describe the building as clean, well-lit, and undergoing thoughtful updates, with convenient parking and pleasant decor. At the same time there are repeated notes about aging resident-room equipment (broken TVs, uncomfortable beds), variable maintenance follow-up, and some outdated rooms. Administratively, several families praised specific directors, admissions staff, and nursing leadership; other accounts raise concerns about admissions professionalism, slow responsiveness from some administrators, frequent leadership/ownership changes, and even regulatory complaints. Taken together, the pattern suggests that resident experience at Chestnut Hill can depend heavily on unit, shift, and current leadership.

For prospective residents and families this means there are clear strengths to consider—compassionate direct care, strong rehab services, and an overall welcoming physical environment—balanced against operational weaknesses that can affect consistency of care and communication. If evaluating this facility, it may be helpful to ask for unit-specific staffing ratios, the facility’s procedures for tracking personal items and assistive devices, how clinical incidents are documented and communicated to families, current leadership tenure, and a sample activities schedule for the relevant care unit. These questions can help clarify whether the unit and shift you are considering align with the positive experiences described by many families or reflect the operational inconsistencies noted by others.

About Complete Care at Chestnut Hill

Complete Care at Chestnut Hill sits at 360 Chestnut Street in Passaic, New Jersey, and it goes by Chestnut Hill Convalescent Center for some people, which can be a bit confusing, since that's what some call it, but the signs out front use the Complete Care name. Folks will find this place is mainly a skilled nursing facility and a nursing home, with staff who speak English and provide both short-term and long-term care for seniors who need 24-hour support for physical or mental health conditions, and as is common with nursing homes, there's a focus on personal care and nursing services around the clock. The central aim here seems to be caring for people all the way, as best they can, and offering different kinds of help, including assisted living services and sometimes memory care, though it's always best to check with the facility to confirm any details about care types. Complete Care at Chestnut Hill is known for serving meals planned to support health, and the kitchen puts real effort into using good ingredients because healthy food helps residents feel better overall, and that's something everybody can appreciate after a few good meals.

The place uses an Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system, has billing features, and there's a Customer Relationship Management system, which means families and staff can keep track of what residents need and how things are going. There are specialized programs with names you won't find everywhere, like My Adult Foster Care, My Adult Home Care, My Senior Care Hub, and My Adult Behavior, and these focus on different aspects of care for adults and seniors, which might suit people with unique needs or preferences. There's also Home Care services for those who wish to receive care at home, and a Food Program through CACFP to help provide nutritious meals. Residents have access to activities, family engagement opportunities, and transportation, and staff manage resources such as a directory, resource links, a blog, and webinars, all of which can help families stay informed and connected. The facility's Care Management solution lets them personalize care plans, tailoring them to each person's needs, and there's a general emphasis on well-being through various clinical services and amenities found in most nursing facilities, so people who live here are likely to find the support and comfort they need.

Complete Care at Chestnut Hill is part of a wider community, since it's associated with Chestnut Hill Residences, and it belongs to the Health Care Association of New Jersey. Right now they aren't accepting new patients, but when they do, they use a simple appointment booking system online that makes it easier to request a consultation. While there's a strong attention to quality of life, comfort, and safety, this place sticks to a focus on providing the broad set of services and supports older adults often seek in a nursing facility, all under the banner of being thorough in the care they deliver, without a lot of extra fuss or flashy extras, just the things that matter most. For more details about features or programs, it's always worth visiting their website at ccchestnuthill.com and reading up on the resources they list, from billing systems to webinars and blog posts, which can give families and potential residents a better sense of what daily life might look like.
