    Seamless move-in, warm caring staff

I toured and moved my mom in and overall I'm very pleased. The sales team responded immediately and the move-in was seamless; staff have been professional, warm, and consistently accommodating. The campus is beautiful and clean, apartments are bright and spacious, dining offers great menu variety, and there are plentiful activities and social events - all within walking distance of shops and restaurants. My family and I feel confident and at peace knowing she's well cared for.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Five Star Premier Residences of Teaneck is described by many families and residents as an attractive, hotel-like campus with well-maintained grounds, elegant public spaces (including a Wintergarden and piano area), and a broad slate of amenities. Reviewers frequently praised the community atmosphere, an active calendar of activities and entertainment, and the social opportunities that support resident engagement and friendship-building. Move-in coordination, concierge services, and leadership visibility were commonly cited as strong points that eased transitions and reassured families.

Care and staff: The facility’s staff and leadership receive considerable positive feedback for compassion, attentiveness, and person-centered interactions. Several reviews singled out the nursing leadership and certain long-tenured staff as exemplary, and many families felt reassured by frequent staff engagement. At the same time, reviewers described operational inconsistencies in clinical care: uneven nursing oversight, medication-management concerns, and gaps in proactive resident monitoring. Communication between nursing staff and families was highlighted as an area needing improvement—families reported delays or a lack of clarity when clinical issues arose. There are also accounts raising serious concerns, including allegations of theft and incidents that prompted questions about clinical decision-making; these suggest the importance of targeted questions about safeguards and oversight when evaluating the community.

Dining: Dining is a prominent feature of community life and receives mixed but generally positive commentary. Numerous reviewers praised varied menus, extensive meal offerings, salad options, and evening entertainment associated with dining. Others described uneven food preparation and occasional quality issues (overcooked or undercooked items, and differing opinions on overall taste), producing a pattern of inconsistent meal execution rather than a uniform dining standard.

Activities and social life: The community’s activities program is consistently highlighted as a strength. Residents and families mentioned word games, puzzles, craft groups, fashion shows, musical entertainment, exercise classes, day trips, and clubs such as a men’s group and card games. These programs support socialization and cognitive engagement, with many residents described as having active social calendars and numerous friends within the community.

Facilities and maintenance: Physical plant and amenities are generally praised—clean, bright dining areas, sunny apartments, good natural light, and appealing landscaping. Apartment layouts vary: some units are described as sunny and spacious with full kitchens, while others are noted as smaller. Maintenance responsiveness appears inconsistent across reviews: some maintenance issues were handled promptly, while a subset of families reported unresolved hot-water and other in-unit problems that required more attentive follow-up.

Management and operational patterns: Leadership and some departmental managers are frequently commended for responsiveness and hands-on involvement, producing strong move-in experiences and supportive family communication in many cases. Conversely, reviewers also describe variability in management responsiveness across departments (particularly HR and some external/agency staff interactions). Transportation services are offered and used, but reviewers noted scheduling limitations and occasional dissatisfaction with the transport program. Pricing and fee increases are recurring concerns for prospective residents and families; affordability should be a consideration during evaluation.

Notable patterns and guidance for prospective families: The dominant pattern is of a well-appointed, socially active community with many caring staff and strong leadership presence. However, operational inconsistencies—primarily in clinical oversight, medication management, food preparation, maintenance follow-through, and staff continuity—appear often enough to merit direct questions during a tour. Prospective residents and families may wish to inquire about nursing staffing ratios and oversight, medication-safety protocols, incident reporting and follow-up procedures, housekeeping and maintenance response times, the use and supervision of agency staff, and transportation scheduling. Sampling meals and meeting both clinical leaders and front-line caregivers can help assess whether the community’s strengths align with an individual resident’s needs.

In summary, Five Star Premier Residences of Teaneck offers strong communal programming, attractive facilities, and many instances of high-quality, compassionate service; these attributes are balanced by operational areas that prospective residents should evaluate carefully to ensure clinical reliability, consistent food and maintenance quality, and alignment with budgetary expectations.

About Five Star Premier Residences of Teaneck

Five Star Premier Residences of Teaneck sits on 655 Pomander Walk in Teaneck, New Jersey, where people can choose from independent living, assisted living, and memory care, and you'll also find short-term stays as an option, too, and the place is known for having a friendly, home-like feel, with staff who get to know residents and try to connect, making sure everyone feels supported and included. The community's set up as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), which means multiple care levels are all together, so if someone's needs change, they're able to receive more support without leaving the campus. You'll see pet-friendly policies, which lets people bring pets and even enjoy visits from pet therapy teams, while the secure, gated community includes nice outdoor spaces like a gazebo, park, garden beds, a lake, and a pond, giving everyone a chance to enjoy nature and fresh air.

After the 2023 renovations, both independent and assisted living areas got updates, including nicer apartment features like oak cabinets, black and stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and tiled backsplashes in the kitchens, and there are one or two-bedroom floor plans with separate kitchens, bedrooms with closets, and combined living and dining areas, plus high-speed internet, satellite TV, housekeeping, and covered parking included, which is a nice practical touch for many. In terms of activities, there are regular organized programs, from lectures on current events and sculpture lessons to city trips for shopping or shows, and simple group events like riverside walks or movie nights in their own theater, along with happy hours, social events, clubs, fitness classes, and religious services right on-site, and residents can get out for community outings using scheduled transportation, too.

There's always 24/7 on-site nursing and a medical team ready, with medical services that cover medication management, help with daily living tasks, and in-house doctor visits, and if someone needs rehab, the on-site Ageility clinic, which uses FOX Rehabilitation, offers outpatient therapy and personal fitness training, so health and wellness stay in focus. Dining happens in an updated room with white tablecloths and chandeliers, offering one, two, or three meals a day, and people can choose where to eat with a MyChoice Dining Program, including options for private groups, plus a bar/cocktail lounge, so there's space for both quiet meals and social gatherings.

The facility covers a wide range of needs with independent living, assisted living, memory care, rehab, home care, personal care, respite care, adult day care, and short-term stays, and because there's a fitness room with therapy equipment, exercise classes, beauty salon, barbershop, card and game room, computer stations, indoor and outdoor heated pools, and a library, residents can stay busy and active as much or as little as they want. Five Star Premier Residences is also set up for those who need emergency care and multicare facility services, and it's fully accessible with pet-friendly accommodations, volunteer opportunities, concierge service, chapel, and included cable TV and internet, so people's comfort and needs are supported while they're part of the community. The website offers a look at community life, and tours are available for those who want a firsthand glimpse of dining, activities, and daily support.
