    Clean, safe, friendly, accommodating community

I moved my mom here and have been very pleased. The staff are friendly, professional and responsive, the building is spotless with nicely furnished rooms, meals are varied and accommodate special diets, and there are plenty of activities - it felt safe and like a true home, and the transition went smoothly so I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Signature Senior Living elicits strongly mixed feedback. Many families and residents highlight the quality of direct care: individual staff members, activity coordinators, and certain administrators receive repeated praise for compassion, professionalism, and smooth intake support. Several named employees were called out positively for being proactive, helpful and reassuring during transitions. The community offers private memory-care rooms, a range of activities (bingo, exercise classes, movie nights, outings), onsite therapy and salon services, and outdoor spaces that residents and families find valuable. In renovated areas reviewers describe a hotel-like atmosphere, well-furnished rooms, clean common areas, and active programming that can improve resident mood and participation.

At the same time, there is a consistent pattern of operational concerns. Cleanliness and sanitation are described as inconsistent across different wings and units, and reviewers point to a maintenance backlog and areas that need renovation. Furnishings and decor are uneven between floors; some wings are updated while others retain older, institutional finishes and limited storage. Several accounts indicate small shared-room layouts or limited single-occupancy availability, which may affect privacy and suitability depending on a prospective resident’s needs.

Clinical-operations and staffing present another contrast. While medication administration and medical attention were reported as timely in many cases, there are recurring reports of understaffing—particularly on dementia units—and of outsourced caregiving arrangements that can disrupt continuity. Families also note inconsistent responsiveness from administrative staff, including delays in addressing care concerns, missed appointments or staff no-shows, and variability in communication following incidents. These operational gaps are linked in some reports to increased family involvement or the need to supplement care privately.

Dining and activities are generally strengths where resources and staffing are steady: many reviewers praise well‑portioned meals, dietary accommodations (including kosher options), and a robust activity calendar. However, food quality and meal-service continuity are described as variable, and interruptions (for example during renovations or staffing shortages) have been noted.

Management, billing, and accountability are areas callers should evaluate during a tour. There are repeated comments about billing errors, confusing invoices, and concerns around financial administration; a subset of reviewers describe serious financial concerns that prompted regulatory attention. There are also multiple references to missing personal items and questions about asset accountability. Prospective families should ask for documentation of staffing models (including use of agency/outsource staff), pest-control records, recent inspection reports, and any regulatory findings.

Recommendation: the community shows clear strengths in compassionate direct care, activity programming, and renovated living areas, and it can be a good fit when those elements align with a prospective resident’s needs and acuity. At the same time, variability between units and shifts—around cleanliness, maintenance, staffing levels, and administrative consistency—means an in-person assessment should focus on the specific unit, staff on duty, recent inspection history, and written policies for billing, security, and incident response. Families seeking memory-care placement should pay particular attention to staff-to-resident ratios, continuity of caregivers, and how the facility documents and resolves clinical and property concerns.

    About Signature Senior Living

Signature Senior Living sits right on the corner of Ocean Parkway and Foster Avenue in Brooklyn, easy to spot with its six-story building that looks out over the trees and Ocean Parkway, and when walking in, you'll see a big lobby with a baby grand piano and an oversized aquarium, and everything from the halls to the rooms feels fresh and newly renovated, with a hotel-like style that's made to feel welcoming and cozy all at once. The community has independent living, assisted living, and memory care, so you'll find seniors who can live on their own, those who need some help every day, and people with Alzheimer's or dementia who stay in a secure wing that's specially set up for their needs and has trained staff around always, and the staff is there 24 hours a day, with nurses on duty and a doctor on call if someone has a health problem or needs extra attention.

There are private suites with their own bathrooms, bedrooms set up with beds, dressers, and recliners, and some places to sit quietly, along with cable TV and private spaces, and the community takes care of daily housekeeping and does weekly laundry for residents. Meal service happens on site, with a dining room that serves gourmet Glatt Kosher meals, including kosher and vegetarian options, and there's a five-star feel to the setup that makes mealtimes comfortable and social. There's also an on-site shul with daily and Shabbos minyanim, so anyone who wants to pray with a group doesn't need to go far, and devotional services also happen right there or through organized outings for those who wish.

For care, Signature Senior Living offers memory care, respite care for short-term stays, regular assisted living, and even adult day care or home health care if needed, supporting a wide range of needs, whether someone just wants a bit of help every day or needs supervision and hands-on help like with insulin injections, diabetes management, medication reminders, assistance with grooming, or around-the-clock monitoring. They're able to help with things like transferring and have lifts for people who can't move easily on their own, and some specialized services also cover behavioral care for more challenging situations. A computerized system alerts the staff if someone tries to leave a safe area, and some residents wear bracelets that ring an alarm if they leave the grounds, so the property is secure, especially for folks with memory problems.

There's a variety of activities, from music programs to art in the arts room, movies in the theater, card and game rooms to pass the time, daily scheduled activities, fitness and wellness programs in the gym and spa, walking paths and garden spaces to get some air, and even resident-run events that help keep everyone active and social; there are plenty of options for people to join in, even those who might not always want to be around a big group, so most people have a chance to stay engaged if they want. Visiting therapists come in several times a week-podiatrists, dentists, therapists for speech, occupation, and mobility care-so you won't need to leave for every appointment, but if you do, drivers are on hand to take residents to medical visits, errands, or social outings, and transportation is scheduled for community trips too.

The building is equipped for comfort with wide hallways, handrails, elevators, and wheelchair accessible bathrooms and tubs, and there are lounge areas with sleek furniture but also soft touches to make the big rooms feel relaxing, a patio area, and a garden space outside when the weather is nice, so people can go outside without hassle. Staff encourage independence but make individual care plans for each resident, helping with anything from daily reminders to more intensive care, so many can age in place, staying in the same community even if needs change and extra services become necessary. Thanks to daily housekeeping, weekly laundry, in-house beautician and barber, a library, spa, and social outings, daily life stays comfortable and interesting.

Signature Senior Living has a central location in Brooklyn near the Prospect Expressway, combining easy access with a sense of privacy, and offers a choice for affordable yet luxurious independent senior homes along with the full range of assisted and memory care, so residents have options that fit both their needs and their lifestyle.
