    Clean, caring community; excellent healthcare

I placed my mom here and I'm very pleased: the facility is spotless, rooms are spacious and studio-like, the gardens and chapel are lovely, and the meals are attractive, nourishing, and delicious. The staff are professional, loving, and family-like-healthcare is excellent, activities (music, movies, dance, bingo, field trips, daily Mass) are engaging, and volunteers and well-planned events make it a warm, safe community with just minor room for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impressions are strongly favorable: reviewers describe a clean, attractive environment with spacious rooms and well‑kept grounds. Families frequently highlight compassionate, family‑oriented caregiving and clinical care that has contributed to measurable improvements in residents (for example, increased appetite and weight). The facility benefits from experienced, long‑tenured employees alongside an active volunteer base, which together support daily routines and resident engagement.

Care and staff quality are generally presented as strengths. Reviewers emphasize warm, attentive interactions and a sense of safety and affection from staff. There are mentions of outstanding clinical care and helpful, professional personnel. At the same time, multiple comments point to staffing changes and concerns about workplace morale; these indicate a potential source of variability in day‑to‑day consistency that prospective families may wish to clarify during a tour.

Dining and nutrition receive consistently positive remarks: meals are described as attractive, nourishing, and well prepared, and several families noted improvements in resident appetite. The facility appears to offer accommodated meal service and a regular schedule that supports resident well‑being.

The activities program is robust and varied. Reviewers note an active activities director, organized social events (music, movies, dance, bingo), field trips, well‑planned annual events, and regular faith‑based offerings such as daily Mass. Volunteer involvement bolsters programming and contributes to a lively social environment.

Facilities and amenities are also strengths. Commenters describe studio‑style rooms, clean common areas, a chapel, sewing room, gift shop, parking, and spacious outdoor gardens that provide a safe outdoor visiting environment. The overall aesthetic is described as inviting and well maintained.

Notable patterns: while most feedback is positive, there are repeated remarks about staffing transitions and a workplace culture that some characterize as lacking appreciation for employees. These operational issues can affect continuity of care and should be explored by interested families. There are also a few comments indicating that the facility’s religious programming may not meet every family’s expectations, suggesting prospective residents clarify the scope and style of faith activities.

Bottom line: Queen of Peace Residence appears to deliver a high level of cleanliness, engaging programming, strong dining, and compassionate caregiving supported by longstanding staff and volunteers. Prospective residents and families should confirm current staffing stability and discuss religious‑program alignment and management communication during a visit to ensure the facility’s operational patterns match their expectations.

    About Queen of Peace Residence

Queen of Peace Residence sits at 110-30 221st Street in Queens Village, New York, and you'll find it in a quiet spot near parks and shops, which makes going out with family or friends a bit easier, and it's one of only two nursing homes in the area, where the Little Sisters of the Poor have made a home for the elderly for many years, running a 53-bed skilled nursing facility as part of a larger mission inspired by Jeanne Jugan and the Roman Catholic Church. This place has both skilled nursing care and options for those who need assisted living, independent living, or retirement care, plus some extra safety like secured grounds, and things like outdoor patios, gardens, and even a spot for spa treatments if a resident fancies it, and on top of that, residents can count on 24-hour care and plenty of staff around all year. Residents here get licensed medical care every day, and can get specialized help like physical therapy, occupational therapy, dentistry, optometry, and recreational therapy, and if someone needs inpatient rehab, they offer that too, all while taking Medicare and Medicaid, which can really help with the bills, and while Queen of Peace is a nonprofit, you can expect familiar senior living features like on-site parking, English and Spanish language support, and the chance for guests to join at meal times. The place accepts advice and planning services, has floor plans and payment info ready, and is located close to local hospitals such as Mary Immaculate Hospital and Queens Hospital Center which is good for emergency peace of mind, and even though there's no resident council, there's always a chance to join their volunteer programs or youth service efforts, so it's still an active group of people, and there's a strong sense of community that's kept going by the Little Sisters, who really do live at the home and share their daily lives with everyone who stays there. The focus at Queen of Peace Residence is on making sure the elderly feel supported and loved, with spiritual care coming straight from the teachings of Jeanne Jugan, so faith and care go hand in hand here, and if you check the records, you'll see they've earned an A+ grade for quality and inspections, and they're even in the top five percent of nursing homes nationally, which points toward a steady, safe place to live, where skilled nursing, comfort, and community come first.
