    Compassionate staff and excellent rehab

I'm very pleased with the caring, professional staff - everyone greets you with a smile and Katrina (and new caregiver Mona Lisa) have been especially helpful. The rehab and therapy team are effective, activities keep residents engaged, and the renovated facility is bright, clean and welcoming. Communication from staff and administration has improved; I feel well cared for by a compassionate, knowledgeable team.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impressions of Curis Charlotte Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center are mixed, with clear strengths in facility upgrades and therapeutic offerings alongside persistent operational gaps. Many reviewers describe a recently renovated, bright environment with new private and semi-private rooms, an attractive dining room, and clean, well-kept common areas. Renovations and a visible investment in the physical plant have contributed to a more welcoming atmosphere for residents and families.

Clinical and rehabilitative services receive generally positive comments: reviewers highlight knowledgeable therapy staff, broad therapy options, and a range of rehabilitation services that helped post-discharge recovery for some residents. Several accounts praise individual caregivers and nurses as compassionate and dedicated, and others note that management changes led to measurable improvements in care quality and responsiveness over time. Activity programs, crafts, and social opportunities are described as engaging and help residents remain active and social.

Despite these strengths, reviews identify several operational and quality-control issues that prospective families should evaluate during a visit. Communication and responsiveness are recurring concerns: reviewers describe inconsistent response to call bells and lapses in notifying families about discharges or clinical incidents. Personal-care schedulingโ€”bathing, grooming, and timely assistance with mealsโ€”was described as uneven, and there are notes about variability in therapy technique and how well therapy plans are individualized. Cleanliness and sanitation are generally acceptable in public areas but were noted as inconsistent in some units.

Other recurring themes include staffing variability and mixed reports about staff conduct and tone; while many staff are characterized as friendly and helpful, interactions and greetings were inconsistent across shifts. Operational systems such as in-room telephones and other communication equipment were flagged as unreliable in some accounts. Nutrition and weight-management were also raised as areas needing attention. A small set of reviews includes serious concerns about billing and insurance irregularities; these are significant allegations that warrant further inquiry during family due diligence.

In summary, Curis Charlotte appears to be a facility undergoing positive change, with substantial physical improvements, active therapy programs, and many caring staff members. At the same time, families should assess operational consistencyโ€”particularly in responsiveness, personal care routines, sanitation in specific units, communication systems, and administrative practicesโ€”when considering placement. Visiting the renovated spaces, meeting nursing and therapy staff, and asking for recent quality metrics and written policies on incident and discharge communication will help clarify whether the facilityโ€™s strengths align with a prospective residentโ€™s needs.

    About Curis Charlotte

Curis Charlotte Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center sits in Charlotte, NC, and serves adults who need skilled care after a hospital stay, surgery, or illness, and the place keeps only 15 certified beds as of June 2025, so things don't get too crowded, and the staff can focus on each person's needs, and folks can go there for a short time to get rehabilitation or stay longer if they need more continued care, and everything's set up to help people regain independence, improve mobility, and handle daily tasks better. The center offers specialized programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other rehabilitative therapies, along with unique offerings like NutriZesta MegaBurn, VisiPrime, Maasalong, Golden Revive Plus, Curafen, and The Unbreakable Brain, which aim to support both the body and mind, and skilled nurses are there 24 hours a day with a doctor overseeing things to make sure health and safety come first, and they also have 12-16 hour direct nursing coverage with licensed supervision to keep an eye out for changes in health.

People get help with bathing, dressing, transfers, eating, and medication management, and the care team is trained to help those with trouble moving or managing daily activities by themselves, so folks who need to use a wheelchair or have limited movement can still feel comfortable and safe, thanks to non-ambulatory care and a 24-hour call system for emergencies. Social workers are around to assist people with planning and decision-making, and there's a social calendar packed with community activities, like movie nights, fitness programs, walking paths outside, gardening, and even resident-run groups, because being around others and joining in helps folks stay positive and connected. The center pays attention to physical and mental wellness, so there are programs for both the body and the mind.

Meals get prepared by a highly-rated on-site chef, and meal times are comfortable so folks can enjoy nutritious food, and the environment's made for comfort and privacy, with rooms featuring private bathrooms, kitchenettes, cable TV, air conditioning, phones, and strong Wi-Fi, and the whole place is furnished and includes things like a spa, sauna, a garden, business center, fitness room, and a safe emergency alert system. Staff help with move-in coordination, and a concierge service is available for daily needs, and there's a resident and family council so people can voice concerns and help guide how things run, and the center welcomes feedback from everyone involved.

Curis Charlotte Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center meets federal rules for Medicare and Medicaid, so it accepts these as payment, and it focuses on post-acute services to help people recover and return to regular life, but also supports those needing long-term supervision due to chronic health problems. The facility isn't part of a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), and it operates with for-profit ownership, aiming to keep a safe, engaging, and structured environment for people facing complex health issues, so whether someone's coming for a few weeks or a longer stretch, the staff work to keep life as comfortable, social, and independent as possible.
