    Compassionate staff, clean accessible rooms

I'm grateful we chose this place - the caring, professional staff treat residents like family and consistently go above and beyond. Rooms are spacious, clean and wheelchair-accessible, with options to furnish; the facility is pet- and child-friendly and offers skilled nursing, an affiliated doctor, good food, and plenty of activities and outings (arts, music, bingo, shopping, large library). My loved one is happy and well cared for, needs are addressed promptly, and overall it's been a great fit for our family - I'd definitely recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Flesher's Fairview Health Care Center receives strongly mixed feedback across reviewers. Many families describe a warm, homey atmosphere where staff treat residents like family and provide compassionate, dignity-focused care. Reviewers highlight the presence of skilled nursing and coordinated interdisciplinary services, ample room sizes with the option to furnish personal spaces, and robust programming that includes activities such as arts and crafts, music, bingo, religious services, and organized outings. Additional strengths noted include wheelchair-accessible programming, an on-site library and communal spaces, pet- and child-friendly policies, and generally positive dining experiences.

Care and staff: The facility is praised for attentive, empathetic caregivers and clinicians who address physical, mental, and spiritual needs. Numerous comments point to staff going above and beyond and creating a welcoming, family-like environment. At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns: reviewers describe inconsistent staffing levels, occasional long delays in responding to call lights, and uneven clinical oversight. Several families expressed worry about lapses in timely detection of clinical changes, which suggests variability in monitoring practices across shifts.

Dining and activities: Activities are described as frequent and varied, with transportation for shopping and outings, regular recreational programming, and spiritual services. These offerings contribute positively to residents' engagement and social well‑being. Dining receives generally favorable marks, with meals described as good most of the time, though some comments imply variability in consistency.

Facilities and maintenance: Many reviewers compliment the cleanliness of resident rooms and the overall sanitary presentation in parts of the building. However, others report areas where maintenance and cleanliness appear inconsistent and where some rooms or common areas show signs of wear. The facility’s layout and room sizes are frequently noted as a positive, along with accessibility for residents who use wheelchairs.

Safety, transport, and clinical incidents: While the facility provides skilled nursing care, there are expressed concerns about safety procedures, particularly around transfers and transport. One allegation mentioned unsafe transport practices. Other comments point to gaps in clinical-incident detection and response (for example, delayed recognition of deterioration), indicating a need for strengthened monitoring and transfer-safety protocols. Infection-control communication to visitors is another area where expectations vary, with some families indicating they were not adequately informed during respiratory events.

Management and communication: Several reviews praise individual staff members but raise concerns about administrative responsiveness and visible leadership presence. Families describe inconsistent communication from the main office and occasional condescending interactions with staff. These patterns suggest opportunities for improved family engagement, clearer incident communication, and more consistent supervisory oversight.

Bottom line: Flesher's Fairview offers many attributes that families value — a caring culture, skilled clinical services, active programming, and accessible, roomy accommodations. However, prospective residents and families should balance those strengths against recurring operational concerns: staffing consistency, response times, maintenance variability, transport and transfer-safety procedures, and administrative communication. A recommended next step for interested families is an on-site visit focused on staffing patterns across shifts, response-time expectations, transport protocols, and how the facility communicates during clinical or infection-control events.

About Fleshers Fairview Health Care Center

Fleshers Fairview Health Care Center sits down Cane Creek Road in Fairview, North Carolina, right where you see the mountains and valleys and folks can spend some time on a relaxing porch. This family-owned place has served Western North Carolina for over three decades, being the oldest locally owned and managed center around, and you'll find a few related buildings at the same address like Rehab Solutions, Fairview Rest Home, and Cane Creek Pharmacy. The staff puts plenty of focus on medical care for seniors, with assisted living right on-site, and there's a Medical Director who comes by once a week for house calls, staying involved in residents' care. There's a whole team working together too-geriatric doctors, family practice doctors, nurse practitioners, plus a registered dietician looking after everyone's meals and wellness. Folks get help with medications, and nurses and aides are around all day and night.

There's a lot more than just medical and nursing help, because the place covers assisted living, rehabilitation, and long-term healthcare needs with physical, occupational, and speech therapy offered to people who need it. Residents can take part in arts and crafts, wellness programs, and get help with things like medication, transportation, shopping, and even laundry and housekeeping. The suites come with private bathrooms, climate control, and storage space, and three warm meals get served up every day in a welcoming dining area. Some rooms have a view that makes sitting and visiting feel peaceful. There's on-demand transportation for appointments and outings, and an on-site pharmacy for easier access to medicine. If somebody needs dietary help, they can count on the registered dietician. The place takes both Medicaid and Medicare, offering a continuum of health services so folks can move between care levels when needed without having to leave the place they know.

Fleshers Fairview Health Care Center keeps its doors open for visits during business hours, and the rooms and amenities are tailored to make life easier and more comfortable for older folks who want access to care, activities, and the safety of having help nearby at all times. Many families have counted on this center to provide a blend of medical care, daily help, comfort, and a home-like atmosphere, all run by a family still proud to keep things local, steady, and caring.
