    Attentive staff, affordable, improving meals

I'm very happy with this place - the staff treat residents like family, attentive and respectful, and the smaller resident load means genuinely good care. Meals are adequate and improving, activities exist though sometimes low-key, and there's outdoor space and occasional live music. It's affordable and I'd recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for the facility present a mixed picture. Several accounts describe warm, attentive caregiving with staff who treat residents like family; reviewers citing a smaller patient load emphasize personalized attention and generally good basic care. At the same time, other accounts describe operational weaknesses that have affected care continuity and safety. Prospective families should recognize both the positive interpersonal experiences and the operational concerns when evaluating this community.

Staffing and direct care are a primary area of divergence. Positive comments emphasize respectful staff–resident interactions and a team that appears engaged when staffing is stable. Countervailing concerns point to high staff turnover, inconsistent supervision, and delays in attending to residents’ needs. Reviewers also described situations indicating gaps in how the facility escalates medical incidents and coordinates transfers to higher-level care, suggesting weaknesses in transfer-safety practices and clinical-incident response protocols.

Dining and activities receive mixed feedback. Meals are described as adequate with limited variety, and some reviewers note improvement over time; this suggests variability in food quality and menu planning. Activity offerings include occasional live music and access to outdoor spaces, but engagement levels are described as uneven—programming may be limited in frequency or appeal to some residents.

Facility operations and management raise several recurring concerns. Housekeeping and personal-care routines are reported as inconsistent, affecting room upkeep and assistance with daily tasks. Transportation for medical appointments is characterized as unreliable by some reviewers. There are also concerns about indoor air quality and enforcement of a non-smoking policy. Financial and administrative issues were mentioned, including aggressive billing practices and a communication tone from management perceived as unfriendly or unhelpful; these indicate potential gaps in billing transparency and family communication processes.

Taken together, the reviews suggest a facility with some clear strengths in interpersonal caregiving and affordability, but with operational variability that can materially affect resident experience. Families considering this community should conduct an on-site visit, ask detailed questions about staffing ratios and turnover, request sample menus and activity schedules, review transportation and incident-response protocols, and examine billing policies and state inspection records to validate current performance and any corrective actions the facility has taken.

    About Wellington Park Inc

Wellington Park Inc sits at 329 Cooper Street in Kenansville, North Carolina, out in a quiet neighborhood with lots of green space and nice views, and you'll see residents enjoying the outdoors or chatting in comfortable indoor spaces, while staff under the direction of the NC Administrator, Robert Crummie, help folks with things like dressing, bathing, medications, and housekeeping, and there's memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, where staff keep a close eye to help reduce confusion and wandering. This licensed Adult Care Home has 80 beds and welcomes pets, with different kinds of rooms including private and shared suites or studio apartments, most having kitchenettes, and you'll find amenities that matter to seniors, like a beauty salon, a library, meal service, and on-site devotional activities, and there's laundry, transportation, Wi-Fi, and cable to keep everyone connected. Residents can join in activities on and off-site, and there's respite care if families need a break, support and referral services, clinical help, and even help with planning, and if home care or hospice are needed there's help for that, too. Diabetic care, incontinence care, and non-ambulatory care are offered, and the staff stays involved in health policy and population management, making sure everyone gets attention without much fuss or confusion. There's Alzheimer's and memory care with housing and therapies built to address special needs, with services meant to give older adults as much independence as they're able while still having help handy, and residents can enjoy a relaxed life with games, crafts, movies, plenty of conversation, and both indoor and outdoor activities, so folks can feel safe and at home while families have peace of mind.
