    Compassionate professional clean dignified care

I moved my mom here and I'm very pleased overall - compassionate, professional staff (nurses, CNAs, activities director Silvana Henderson and helpful admins like Traci and Julie) made admission smooth and kept us respectfully updated. The place is exceptionally clean, homey, with great food, engaging activities, strong Hospice partnership, and my mom felt dignified and comfortable every day. I'd recommend this safe, nurturing memory-care community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Kempton of Jacksonville is described by families and visitors primarily for its strong people-oriented strengths: consistent praise centers on compassionate caregiving, engaged certified nursing assistants, and a home-like, clean environment. Several reviewers singled out named staff and leaders for professional, empathetic handling of clinical and operational needs, and there is repeated appreciation for coordinated hospice support and respectful end-of-life care. The facility’s dining staff, volunteer program, and transportation offerings are also commonly cited as practical strengths that support resident quality of life.

Care quality and clinical issues: Many accounts describe attentive nursing and CNA care, dignity-preserving communication, and reliable 24-hour monitoring. Memory-care programming is highlighted as a capability of the facility, with families noting personalized attention and respectful updates. However, a pattern of inconsistent staffing and capacity strain was also described; this manifests as delays in responsiveness at times and reduced interaction in certain units. A limited number of reviews raise concerns about clinical communication accuracy and isolated serious incidents that families felt required further review. These concerns suggest the need for continued oversight of staffing levels, communication protocols, and incident-reporting processes.

Activities and social life: The activities program receives strong, consistent praise. The activities director is repeatedly described as proactive and effective at organizing events that create a lively social environment. Reviewers note a range of well-attended gatherings and thoughtful programming that contribute to residents’ social engagement. At the same time, some accounts indicate that access to memory-care activities or outdoor courtyards has been variable at times, sometimes related to unit restrictions or staffing availability.

Facilities and dining: The physical plant is generally characterized as clean, bright, and well maintained, with pleasant courtyards and cheerful rooms noted. Dining and cafeteria staff are described as caring and serving good food. Facility-related limitations called out include smaller semi-private room arrangements that feel dormitory-like to some families, and specific bathroom or shower safety maintenance items (for example, slippery seating) that would benefit from attention to reduce risk. Administrative office coverage has been described as uneven in a few instances, leading to delays when families attempt to make contact or require in-person assistance.

Management and notable patterns: Leadership and many front-line staff receive repeated commendation for compassion, professionalism, and resident advocacy. Operational patterns to monitor include staffing consistency across shifts and units, consistency of memory-care access and programming, administrative availability, and proactive maintenance of bathroom and transfer-safety equipment. Taken together, the reviews portray a facility with strong caregiving and social programming foundations that would benefit from focused attention on staffing reliability, communication accuracy, and certain safety-maintenance items to ensure those strengths are consistently delivered across all units.

    About Kempton of Jacksonville

Kempton of Jacksonville sits in a community surrounded by the beauty and vibrant neighborhoods of Surf City and the Crystal Coast, and the place tries to provide a comfortable setting where each resident's part of a family, which really stands out, especially for folks who like to feel at home but also want some support when they need it, and the staff focuses on letting people keep their routines and make their own choices so they can stay healthy and safe as they get older, and it's got different living options on one campus-like independent living for those who want to do their own thing, assisted living with help on daily tasks, specialized memory care for adults with Alzheimer's or dementia, skilled nursing for folks who need a bit more care, and short-term stays with respite or hospice when that's what's required. The Kempton memory support program caters to residents with dementia-related conditions, making sure they can move freely in a secured and calming environment that's both safe and home-like, and there's a big focus on celebrating all the things people can do, instead of what they can't, with programs for social, spiritual, intellectual, and physical wellness, and plenty of ways to join in, whether that's art, cards, live music, or gathering for events in the media lounge or game room. Residents get three daily meals served restaurant-style, with housekeeping, laundry, and linen services handled for them, and scheduled rides for outings and appointments help folks get to where they want to go, and the staff works to give each person the support they need, helping out with the basics or stepping up for more hands-on care as health needs change, and to keep days lively, there's a monthly calendar packed with activities, so there's usually something for everyone, whether someone prefers something quiet and crafty or a more social get-together, and you'll often find neighbors relaxing in inviting common spaces, all part of what keeps the place feeling lively but still calm and safe when that's needed most.
