I placed my mom at Piney Grove and had mixed experiences: some therapists, CNAs and activities staff were compassionate and the rooms and common areas could be clean and engaging. But I repeatedly experienced chronic understaffing, long delays or no response to call bells, missed/delayed/incorrect medications, poor communication from nursing and administration, and hygiene neglect (infrequent baths, soiled briefs, bedsores). I saw paperwork and medication-signature failures, mishandled meals and dietary errors, and even smelled marijuana on the premises and suspected unsafe activity. Management often seemed indifferent, incidents went unaddressed or blamed on frontline staff, and promises were not kept. Short-term rehab sometimes helped-my loved one improved with great PT-but overall the risks felt real and avoidable. I would not trust Piney Grove for long-term skilled nursing; only consider it cautiously for brief rehab when staff and leadership are clearly present.
