Scottish Pines Rehabilitation And Nursing Center sits in Laurinburg, NC, at 620 Johns Road, and is a for-profit skilled nursing facility that's managed by Administrator Margaret Dickerson as part of Century Care Management, Inc., which has controlled operations since October 2000, with ownership held mainly by Noah K Duncan Mrtl Tr and Gail Duncan. The center holds 149 certified beds, usually caring for around 114 residents each day, and offers nursing care, long-term residential services, and rehabilitation, including therapy services. People who need help with medication, wound care, personal hygiene, mobility, or meal preparation get support from a multidisciplinary team of nurses, doctors, and physical therapists, with all clinical staff and the administrator holding North Carolina state licenses and getting monthly training and annual recertification. Nurse turnover is 25.3%, which is much lower than the state average, and nurse hours per resident per day stand at 3.62, which is just a little under the state average, while clinical staffing levels are reported higher than both Federal and State standards. The center has private rooms and amenities for comfort, with a secure environment for people with cognitive or physical disabilities, and offers respite care for home caregivers too. Various social activities are available, aiming to support physical health, mental wellbeing, and spiritual needs, and advanced technology is present throughout services. Auxiliary aids like sign language interpreters, TTYs, and other tools help residents who are deaf or hard of hearing. Staff go through drug screening and background checks before hire, and the workplace is smoke-free. Scottish Pines requires compliance with rules in the Resident and Family Handbook and uses employment programs like e-Verify, also offering job benefits such as health insurance, time off, and retirement plans. The facility has faced citations for storing and labeling drugs, carrying out timely and accurate resident assessments, and for pharmacy procedures related to unnecessary medications, and inspection reports have found deficiencies in these areas, but the staff and facility are part of the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association and continue to serve the Laurinburg community with a focus on quality care for seniors.

Beautiful facility, caring, but inconsistent
I had a generally positive experience: the facility is absolutely beautiful, clean, welcoming and the staff (especially rehab and those who helped with emergencies) were excellent - they kept me informed, the salon, Thanksgiving dinner and activities were nice, and rooms were neat. However, staff responsiveness and follow-up were inconsistent, friendliness and family communication need work, and privacy is limited by double occupancy with few single rooms available. Overall helpful and caring but there's room for improvement.
