I'm moving in Aug 14 and very pleased so far: skilled, compassionate staff who work well as a team, friendly residents, and a warm, home-like atmosphere full of laughter. The living room and facility are lovely - an enjoyable, pleasant community I highly recommend.

    Summary of reviews

The available reviews present a polarized view of Mount Pleasant House, with clear strengths in interpersonal atmosphere and notable operational concerns. Positive comments emphasize warm, friendly interactions between staff and residents, a home-like environment, lively socialization, and attractive common spaces such as living-room areas. Several reviews describe competent and compassionate caregiving, examples of good teamwork, and families who would recommend the community.

At the same time, a number of substantive operational issues recur across reviews. There are consistent concerns about medication management, including missed or delayed administration and problems with tracking. Communication breakdowns are described both between facility staff and families and between the facility and outside clinicians; these include poor notice about transfers or pickups, misinformation conveyed to doctors, and unanswered or ignored calls. Relatedly, reviewers raise concerns about intermittent staff availability and delays in responding to resident needs, which point to potential staffing or workflow gaps during some shifts.

Facility and management issues also appear as a pattern. Several comments raise sanitation and cleanliness inconsistencies in parts of the building, and reviewers describe gaps in care coordination and clinical documentation that impede continuity of care. Some families specifically called out unprofessional communication style from administrative representatives, which affects trust and satisfaction. These operational weaknesses contrast with the visible strengths in social programming and the compassionate approach described by other reviewers.

There is limited, consistent information about dining in these summaries; prospective families may want to observe mealtime service and review menus during a visit. Activities and social life appear to be a relative strength, with mention of laughter, an enjoyable atmosphere, and community engagement among residents.

For prospective residents and families: consider arranging an in-person tour that includes observation of medication-pass procedures, a walk-through of common areas and resident rooms for sanitation assessment, meetings with both clinical leadership and administrative staff to discuss communication protocols, and conversations with current families about staffing patterns and response times. Request recent inspection reports, medication-administration logs, and clarification of how the facility manages care coordination with external providers to help evaluate whether the facility’s strengths align with your priorities.

    About Mount Pleasant House

Mount Pleasant House offers assisted living, independent living, and memory care for seniors, with options for those starting at age 55 or 62 and up, and you'll find the place laid out for folks who mostly look after themselves but still like a bit of help on hand, so there's someone always on-site and a call system for safety, plus a full-time activity director managing outings and daily events, since the residents here keep active and like to get together in communal spaces like the theater, library, activity and game rooms, or relax on the garden paths and patios, and you'll see they've even got a dedicated arts and crafts area, raised garden beds, and a piano or organ for music. Daily life runs easy with housekeeping, laundry, and even dry-cleaning as part of the services, and professional chefs handle meal prep in the dining room with choices that work for people with allergies or diabetes, so there are balanced, nutritious meals every day-sometimes one, sometimes two-served in a restaurant-style setting or as guest meals when family comes by. Health care support is steady, with medication management, diabetic and incontinence care, non-ambulatory support, physical therapy, and even specialized chronic pain programs without heavy doses of medicine, while caregivers help with bathing, dressing, and other daily needs, and nursing care covers 12-16 hours daily. For folks living with Alzheimer's or dementia, there's a secure memory care wing offering programs built for both comfort and stimulation, and the staff is ready for most care adjustments as needs change since everything is on one campus. Beauty salon, wellness room, fitness space, spa, concierge service, and scheduled transportation make daily living smoother, and the rooms have private baths, kitchenettes, air conditioning, large windows, and options for cable or satellite TV along with high-speed internet, so the place feels like home with a bit of extra help if you want it. Mount Pleasant House also has respite care for short-term stays and supports family planning, whether a move happens right away or later. Seniors here get an individualized approach, whether they want independent living with lots of activities, need more supervision, or require help with memory care, and the environment stays welcoming, secure, and designed for folks' changing needs.
