    Calm loving dementia care facility

I placed my mom here and I'm very pleased. It's calm, peaceful and loving - immaculate, home-like, light rooms with no clinical smell; meticulous, attentive staff who are excellent with dementia care and available for emergencies; great meals, a vegetable garden, daily walks, deck, bird feeders, lots of open space and ample parking. My mom is relaxed, happy and well taken care of.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment: The aggregated reviews paint a strongly positive picture of Arcadia Care Home, with repeated emphasis on cleanliness, a homelike atmosphere, attentive caregiving, pleasant outdoor spaces, and high-quality meals. Multiple reviewers singled out the facilitys lack of a clinical smell and described the environment as immaculate, calm, and loving. Care quality and staff interaction: Caregivers are described as meticulous, thorough, and personable. Reviewers specifically note good interaction with dementia patients and that family members observed loved ones becoming more relaxed and less stressed after being in the home. Staff are reported to be available for emergencies, which contributes to family members confidence in the level of oversight and responsiveness. Facilities and environment: The physical setting receives frequent praise. The home features lots of open spaces, a large living room, and a deck that encourages time outdoors. Reviewers mentioned bird feeders, visiting deer, and a vegetable garden, all of which reinforce the homelike, nature-oriented feel. Rooms are characterized as light and airy and at least one private room offers a view. Ample parking is also noted as a practical benefit for visitors. Cleanliness and ambiance: Multiple reviewers emphasize immaculate cleanliness and a home-like, non-institutional atmosphere. The absence of a clinical smell and the presence of comfortable, overstuffed furnishings contribute to a cozy environment that family members felt supported their loved ones wellbeing. Dining and activities: Food is a clear strength—described as excellent and plentiful—and meals are provided as part of the service. Simple daily activities, such as walks and time in the garden, are mentioned and seem to contribute to residents relaxation and enjoyment of the setting. Resident dynamics: Reviewers observed personable, friendly residents and a calm, peaceful community dynamic. Family members reported seeing visible improvements in mood and stress levels for their relatives, indicating effective day-to-day caregiving and an environment conducive to emotional comfort. Notable patterns and concerns: The most consistent drawbacks cited are related to physical accommodations and location. Several reviewers described rooms as "smallish," and at least one mention noted a shared bathroom, which could be a limitation for families seeking fully private facilities or for residents who require more accessible or private restroom arrangements. The furniture is described as overstuffed and, in one case, potentially difficult for an individual with mobility or strength limitations to rise from; this suggests that seating choices may not be optimal for residents with reduced mobility or fall risk. Finally, distance proved a deciding factor for at least one family—Arcadia Care Home may be too far from some families homes, which can affect visitation and ongoing family involvement. Overall assessment: Arcadia Care Home appears to excel at creating a clean, peaceful, and home-like setting with attentive staff, strong dementia interaction, engaging outdoor spaces, and high-quality meals. The primary trade-offs are relatively small room sizes, a shared bathroom situation, furniture choices that may not suit all mobility needs, and potential distance from family homes. For families prioritizing cleanliness, compassionate dementia-capable care, a tranquil environment, and good food, Arcadia Care Home looks highly favorable. Families who need larger private rooms, fully private bathrooms, or close proximity should weigh those specific concerns when considering this facility.

    About Arcadia Care Home

Arcadia Care Home sits in a quiet Waxhaw neighborhood where six seniors live together in a comfortable house that feels like a real home, and with its small size it's easier for staff to know every resident well, really paying attention to personal needs and doing things like making sure care plans match whatever each person needs help with, whether that's daily things like bathing or more medical tasks. Folks living there can pick a private or semi-private room, and every room is set up to provide the comfort and privacy seniors usually want, with communal spaces like a lounge, gardens where vegetables are grown, and paths for daily walks, plus both indoor and outdoor common areas that give space for relaxing or spending time with others. Meals are prepared and served right there, laundry and housekeeping get done for everyone, and staff take care of medication management, too, so no one has to remember everything on their own.

Arcadia handles a range of needs, from assisted living for elders who need extra support day to day, to nursing home services, and even offers memory care for dementia, adult day care, and respite options for short stays, plus home health care and rehabilitation. There's health and wellness programs, physical and occupational therapy, and personal care services that include help with dressing, grooming, walking or using a wheelchair, and bathroom assistance. Nurses are always on staff, there's a doctor available for calls, and even specialists like a podiatrist and dentist. Residents with special diets get meals they can eat, and there's always support for mobility and daily routines.

Arcadia has activities like arts and crafts, games, social events, and educational programs-onsite or out in the community-mixed with devotional services for those who want them, and family and friends can visit easily with guest parking out front. The home allows pets, which helps the place feel lively, and takes care to create a safe and calm space with features like wheelchair accessible showers, safety rails, a sprinkler system for fire safety, emergency alert systems, and no indoor smoking allowed. There's a beauty salon and barbershop, fitness area, washers and dryers in-house, wi-fi and cable TV, and kitchens or kitchenettes in some rooms.

Transportation to medical appointments or outings is included, with personal care assistants available all the time if someone needs regular help. Arcadia accepts folks 55 and up, and supports both men and women, with a focus on building respectful relationships with families and promoting independence as much as possible. Respite care and hospice support are part of what's offered should someone need these. The staff aims to be reliable and compassionate, making sure every resident gets attention, privacy, and the specific care they need in a loving, peaceful country setting known for southern hospitality. The home has a 4.5-star average from reviews, and published rates for rooms so people know what to expect going in.
