    Spotless campus, caring, skilled staff

I'm very impressed with the spotless, beautifully maintained campus - spacious apartments, lovely common areas and resort-style amenities like the spa, pool and walking paths. The staff are friendly, caring and highly skilled (excellent nursing, therapy and on-site physicians), the food is delicious and varied, and the warm, active community makes me feel safe and well cared for.

    Summary of reviews

The Davis Community presents as a well-appointed, full-service senior living campus with many amenities and features that attract residents seeking maintenance-free, socially active living. Reviewers consistently praise the facility’s physical environment: spacious apartments, well-maintained common areas, resort-style pool and spa, fitness center, salon services, walking paths, and pet-friendly outdoor space. Dining is a highlighted strength for many families, with an executive chef, multiple on-site venues, and public dining access. The campus also offers on-site therapy, rehabilitation, and physician access, which several families credited with positive clinical outcomes.

Care quality and clinical responsiveness are mixed across accounts. Numerous reviewers commend skilled nurses, competent therapy teams, and compassionate frontline staff who provide attentive support. At the same time, there are recurring concerns about inconsistent nursing responsiveness (including delayed responses to call buttons), lapses in medication administration or follow-through, and insufficient staffing levels at certain times. Several accounts describe problematic care transitions and discharge coordination that left families having to advocate strongly for follow-up care. While therapy and rehabilitative services are frequently described as strong, continuity of nursing care—especially during higher-acuity needs—appears variable.

Staff culture and management practices show a similar split. Many families describe warm, helpful, and personable staff and highlight individual employees who went above and beyond. Conversely, there are repeated observations of high turnover, reliance on agency staff, and uneven conduct among aides and nurses. Administrative and human-resources issues are also noted: communication gaps, slow handling of POA/insurance paperwork, scheduling and payroll disruptions, and disputes tied to vaccination policy and exemptions. These administrative weaknesses contribute to perceptions of inconsistency in how care and resident needs are managed.

Dining, activities, and resident life are clear strengths for those seeking an active lifestyle. The program offers a wide array of activities, fitness classes, seasonal events, and social programming that many residents find engaging. Food quality is usually praised, but there are intermittent complaints about meal consistency, café functionality, and occasional sanitation or pest-control concerns that prospective families should evaluate in person. Housekeeping and personal-care routines are included services for many residents; however, some families described lapses in scheduled cleaning or bathing for certain residents, indicating variability in service delivery.

For prospective residents and families: The Davis Community is likely to be a good fit for those prioritizing amenities, robust therapy services, and an active social environment. Families focused on consistent, high-acuity nursing care or tightly coordinated clinical transitions should conduct targeted due diligence: ask for current staffing ratios by unit and time of day, inquire about agency-staff usage, review call-response metrics and recent state inspection or sanitation reports, clarify billing and refund policies, and observe meal service and housekeeping operations during visits. Listening for how management describes staffing stability, clinical handoffs, and former-resident care experiences can help determine whether the facility’s strengths align with an individual’s or family’s care priorities.
