    Compassionate attentive care and comfort

I moved my mother here after a fall and have been very pleased. The staff are compassionate, attentive, and know residents by name - nurses respond quickly and coordinate well with outside agencies and hospice. The campus is clean, homey, and well-kept with lovely grounds, seasonal decor, a bright dining room and chef-prepared, restaurant-style meals (room service available when needed). Residents stay active with on- and off-site activities and outings, apartments are comfortable with useful amenities, and I have real peace of mind knowing she's cared for.

    Summary of reviews

The Lodge elicits a mix of strong praise and recurring operational concerns. Strengths center on the caregiving workforce and hospitality-style services: many families describe compassionate, attentive staff and an experienced nursing team with caregivers who provide continuity. The community is frequently commended for restaurant-style, chef-prepared meals (with dietary accommodations and room service options), an active calendar of on-site programming and off-site day trips, and well-kept grounds and dining spaces that contribute to a home-like atmosphere.

Clinical coordination and ancillary services are notable positives. Reviewers highlight effective coordination with outside agencies and hospice, 24/7 front-desk coverage, regular housekeeping and laundry services, and on-site amenities such as a salon and exercise room. These elements support independent living and ease transitions for residents entering higher levels of care. Many families also point to a strong sense of community and staff willingness to follow up after clinical events.

Despite those strengths, a set of operational patterns recurs across feedback. Staffing instability and high turnover are linked to inconsistent service levels and occasional lapses in personal-care scheduling. Some reviewers cited variability in staff professionalism (including front-desk interactions and supervisory conduct), and there are notes about communication lapses such as missed messages or inconsistent administrative follow-up. Several reviews also raise privacy and HIPAA-related concerns and describe gaps in discharge planning, medication handoff, and coordination with insurers.

The physical plant and food service show mixed performance. The property offers attractive dining areas, seasonal decor, and pleasant grounds, but the building is described as dated in places with uneven renovation—small units and worn corridors were noted alongside renovated lobbies and refreshed common spaces. Dining is generally praised for variety and quality, though reports of inconsistent meal preparation and seasoning suggest variability in daily delivery.

Sanitation and safety issues have been cited by some families. These include pest-control concerns in service areas and uneven sanitation standards tied to housekeeping workload. While many reviewers describe an immaculate, fresh environment, others indicate variability across units and common areas. In addition, a minority of reviews contain serious individual complaints—including disputes over discharge practices, financial or billing issues, and law-enforcement involvement—that warrant careful inquiry by prospective residents and families.

Bottom line: The Lodge offers strong caregiving, engaging activities, and hospitality-oriented dining that make it attractive for many residents seeking a community environment. Prospective residents should weigh those strengths against patterns of staffing variability, administrative and communication inconsistencies, and facility-aging issues. Families considering The Lodge would be advised to tour multiple unit types, ask specific questions about staffing ratios and turnover, review policies on visitation and discharge, and inquire about pest-control and recent renovation plans to ensure the community’s operational profile matches their expectations.

    About The Lodge Retirement Community

The Lodge Retirement Community offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, and nursing home services, all in one place, so folks can get more or less help as they need it, and it's a verified community, which helps families feel a bit more secure about their choice, plus you'll find a real mix of people and activity because residents range from those living almost entirely on their own to those needing regular care, and the staff are known to be friendly and genuinely helpful, with a cheerful way about them that makes the whole place feel more welcoming. There are social functions and games like bingo, bridge, shuffleboard, indoor volleyball, hallway golf, theater arts, arts and crafts, and exercise and yoga classes, so it's not hard to find something to do during the day, and you'll see people laughing or chatting in the halls or the community spaces pretty often. The Lodge has scheduled transportation to doctor appointments, nearby churches, the grocery store, and shopping centers, so residents can keep up with errands and outings even after they stop driving, and if someone needs a haircut or just wants to shop for a gift, there's a salon and a gift store right in the building. They offer pharmacy and banking services onsite, as well as visits from physical therapists, podiatry, and hearing aid professionals, which takes a lot of pressure off trying to get around for basic needs, and there's an emergency response system and 24-hour security to help everyone feel safer. Laundry rooms and weekly housekeeping are provided, and the apartments themselves come in studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts, some with balconies and the garden apartments have two bedrooms, 1.5 baths, cathedral ceilings, a patio, granite countertops, and washer/dryer hookups, meant for people or couples who aren't ready for the usual retirement setting but want some community and support. Utilities, basic cable, heating, cooling, water, and emergency call systems are built into assisted living and garden apartments, and the rent for most units is all-inclusive, covering meals, utilities, housekeeping, transportation, and most activities, so residents or families don't get a surprise bill each month. There's a flexible meal program with up to three home-style meals daily for independent living residents, and meals can get delivered to garden apartments. Friendly, close pets are allowed, Wi-Fi and high-speed internet are available, and the grounds are landscaped with a pond, gazebo, bridge, and walking paths, which gives folks a place to enjoy nature or gather outside. The Helping Hands Program is available for extra help, like support with independence, if someone wants it, though there may be additional fees for that, and people seem to appreciate the nutritious meals served using quality ingredients. You'll often see people helping each other or just sitting and visiting because the people there, both residents and staff, really try to make the days comfortable and friendly for everyone.
