    Clean, caring, well-run facility recommended

I'm very pleased with the caring, professional staff and how clean and well-run the facility is. Nursing and rehab were excellent, the food and daily Mass were comforting, communication and security were strong, and the activities helped me make friends - I would recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

Regina Health Center elicits a mixed but specific set of patterns across families and residents. Strengths most consistently cited include strong nursing and rehabilitation services, a clean and well-maintained environment, and a range of social and spiritual programming that many residents find engaging. Physical therapy and occupational therapy are frequently characterized as effective and hands-on, and several families praised individualized care planning and proactive family communication. Long-tenure aides, volunteer engagement, visible front-desk security, and daily religious services are also recurrent positives that contribute to a stable, supportive atmosphere for many residents.

Clinical care and responsiveness show both positive and concerning elements. On the positive side, reviewers report compassionate, professional nursing care and successful rehab outcomes for many residents. However, there are recurring operational concerns: understaffing and low caregiver-to-resident ratios appear to contribute to delays in responding to call lights and alarms, and some families described long waits for assistance with bathroom visits and other needs. There are also reports suggesting inconsistent medication-administration controls, including a serious concern raised about insulin handling; prospective families should directly inquire about medication protocols and incident reporting practices.

Staff conduct and management receive mixed evaluations. Multiple accounts describe caring, dedicated employees and supervisors who keep families informed; conversely, other accounts describe variability in the tone and professionalism of some aides and front-desk personnel. There are also comments indicating uneven management oversight and at least one report criticizing nursing leadership. These contrasts suggest that individual staff interactions and unit-level leadership have an outsized effect on the resident experience.

Dining and nutrition are similarly mixed. Several families praised the food quality and the facilityโ€™s ability to accommodate preferences, while other accounts raise concerns about selective menus, limited diabetic-friendly choices, and instances where meals did not match documented dietary orders. If therapeutic diets are required, families should confirm menu options and dietitian involvement during a tour.

The building and activities are generally viewed positively for cleanliness, decoration, and social engagement; many residents reportedly enjoy activities and form friendships. That said, reviewers also describe tight quarters in some units, areas with limited natural light, and occasional odor concerns in specific spaces. Roommate compatibility and privacy are recurring practical issues for those placed in shared rooms.

In summary, Regina Health Center demonstrates clear strengths in rehabilitation, cleanliness, spiritual programming, and in many cases, compassionate nursing care. At the same time, there are consistent operational themes that prospective residents and families should evaluate in person: staffing levels and response times, medication-administration safeguards (especially for insulin and alarmed lines), consistency of staff conduct, management responsiveness, and diet/therapeutic-meal practices. An in-person visit that includes discussion of staffing ratios, call-response metrics, medication policies, roommate options, and recent quality or inspection data is recommended to assess how the facilityโ€™s strengths and weaknesses align with an individual residentโ€™s needs.

    About Regina Health Center

Regina Health Center sits in a peaceful, faith-based, Catholic community where more than 120 people live together, many of whom are aging members of various religious congregations and dioceses, and the place is well-known for its five-star Medicare and Medicaid Services rating, plus it's ranked among Ohio's Top 10 nursing homes by Newsweek in 2024, and it wins praise from the state for quality care and consistently lands high in satisfaction surveys from both residents and their families, which is a testament to the staff's dedication to taking good care of people every single day. The Regina Fund helps by covering gaps when Medicare and Medicaid fall short, so folks always can get the care they need, and those needs can get pretty complex since the place offers a wide range of services, including assisted living, skilled nursing, rehabilitation therapy, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, plus respite, home health, and hospice services for folks who need them. The facility is licensed and houses 101 nursing beds for long-term care, has 54 assisted living units for seniors who want a bit more independence, and a special unit focuses on dementia care, so each person there gets services that fit their circumstances, from help with daily activities to around-the-clock medical support. Care includes common services like wound care, diabetes treatment, and nutrition planning, but also stretches to more advanced healthcare like cardiac rehabilitation, laboratory testing, and inpatient and outpatient geriatric rehab, with regular visits from social workers, dietitians, and specialists in dental, vision, and podiatry health. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy get offered as needed, and both private and semi-private rooms come with safety and comfort in mind, most having full bathrooms, emergency call systems, and easy telephone access. Life at Regina Health Center leans into shared faith with daily Mass, common prayer, and regular spiritual support from pastoral ministers, and the whole facility stays rooted in its tradition as the former Motherhouse for the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, so there's a steady spiritual presence that gives comfort to residents. Folks can get their hair done, enjoy housekeeping and laundry service, and take part in activities planned to help people connect and stay active, and the assisted living side is set up so adults who want to keep their independence can live safely without extra help unless they choose it. The medical care is thorough, with services for allergy and immunization, behavioral health, dermatology, ear, nose and throat, endocrinology, cardiac disorders, and other clinical needs, plus there's certified emergency care and access to tests like ultrasound, CT, MRI, and even cardiac catheterization. Every care plan gets tailored to the person, aiming for comfort, dignity, and attention in a welcoming and spiritual setting, and the place still serves as both a home and a community, drawing on decades of Catholic tradition and a real focus on giving residents the best care possible as they age.
