Elms Retirement Village, found at 136 S Main St in Wellington, Ohio, sits as a medium-sized community where people can choose from Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, and Respite Care, and you know, it's one of those places where you'll find folks getting help when they need it, whether they want to keep as much independence as possible or need daily nursing care or therapy after surgery, and the staff here, with nurses on duty all day and night, really know how to help out folks living with dementia or Alzheimer's, or those who need wound care, medication help, or just a hand with washing and dressing. They've got meals served in a big dining room, home-style or following a special diet if the doctor says so, and people who like activities can join in day trips, cooking classes, quilting circles, movie nights, art therapy, and even things like pet therapy and aromatherapy, because keeping busy and seeing friends is just as important here as anything else-they even have a billiard room, a library, a putting green, a garden, and a social pub tucked into the independent living area, which makes for a lively environment, though there's always a quiet chair somewhere if that's what you want. The place has a pool and a fitness center supervised by rehab professionals with BIODEX equipment, so folks can keep up with their exercises, or if they're recovering from something, work with physical, occupational, or speech therapists right there on site, and the therapy team takes care with programs for both short and long stays. Elms Retirement Village has its apartments set up so that heat, water, electricity, internet, and weekly housekeeping are all included, and transportation rides run free for anyone who needs to get out for appointments or errands, and some staff speak other languages in addition to English, which is handy. Residents, whether they're living in the regular retirement apartments or getting more help in the nursing wing, get access to things like laundry service, an on-campus beauty shop, chaplain services, and they keep up with security through a 24-hour call system and plenty of supervision, and family members can check up on how things run using the community's quality and livability score system that gets updated often. Folks who need Skilled Nursing care can find certified beds-Medicare and Medicaid are accepted-and personalized care plans address everything from medical needs to emotional and social wellness, while those just looking for some steady neighbors and no home maintenance can settle into the independent apartments meant for folks 55 and up. The community also has resources like caregiver support, informational documentaries, and a wide range of glossaries and educational materials, so families can better understand their options, and you'll find both a structured schedule for anyone who likes to stay active and a supportive, home-like feel where folks are treated like family.

Great facility, serious clinical neglect
I appreciate the clean, well-maintained building, restaurant-quality meals, helpful professional staff who know residents by name, and services like medication management, laundry, salon and activities - Susan says she loves it and the rooms/bathrooms are nearly perfect. However, I've seen a worrying decline in nursing care: UTIs leading to sepsis, dehydration and skin infections, residents once left sitting in waste for over an hour, nurses deflecting concerns, and a DON who showed little compassion. I'm torn - great environment and many caring staff, but serious clinical neglect must be addressed.
