    Warm attentive staff, resort-like amenities

I moved my mother here and I'm very pleased - the staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely caring, the apartments and common areas are spotless and resort-like, and meals are chef-prepared restaurant quality. Therapy, fitness and nonstop activities (classes, pool, outings, poker, holiday events) keep residents engaged and social, and leadership is hands-on. Excellent overall, with only minor room for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The Echelon of Medina elicits a strongly positive response for its social environment, amenities, and many aspects of care, while also showing recurring operational challenges that prospective residents and families should assess directly.

Care quality and staff: Reviewers frequently describe staff as compassionate, personable, and hands-on; executive leadership and several named staff members are repeatedly highlighted for visible involvement and proactive planning. The community offers multiple levels of care—from independent living through memory care—with therapy and clinical services available on-site and visiting physicians. At the same time, there are recurring concerns about inconsistent staffing and elevated staff turnover, which reviewers link to variability in care continuity and occasional delays in responding to resident needs.

Dining: Dining is a pronounced strength for many families: restaurant-style service, chef-prepared meals, specialty diets, and social dining experiences are commonly praised. Multiple accounts cite exceptional meals and celebratory dining events. Conversely, other reviewers note variability in meal quality, issues with meal temperature and presentation, and at times the use of less-preferred service ware; these inconsistencies suggest that meal experience can vary by day or shift.

Activities and community life: The community offers a wide and active calendar—fitness classes (including SilverSneakers and adaptable cardio), arts, outings, wine tastings, themed socials, and large-scale celebrations—contributing to a family-like, social atmosphere. Activity staff and directors receive frequent praise for creativity and resident engagement. Transportation, recreation spaces (pool, gym, theater, chapel, bistro), and pet therapy further support an engaged lifestyle.

Facilities and cleanliness: Many reviewers describe the campus as modern, well-appointed, and resort-like, with spacious apartments and attractive common areas. However, there are isolated but persistent notes about sanitation inconsistencies and environmental upkeep—particularly in certain care-area zones—that reviewers advise touring in person. Maintenance responsiveness is generally positive but a subset of accounts reference delayed housekeeping or maintenance follow-up.

Management, administration, and billing: Leadership involvement and hospitality are frequently noted as positives, yet several families describe difficulties with financial administration—delayed refunds, billing disputes, and slow resolution that in some cases required escalation. Communication gaps with management are described in some reviews; prospective families should confirm billing practices, refund policies, and escalation pathways before move-in.

Notable patterns and guidance: The dominant themes are strong staffing relationships, a lively activities program, high-quality therapy services, and appealing dining and amenities. Counterbalancing themes include operational variability—particularly in staffing levels, dining consistency, targeted cleanliness in specific areas, and financial-administration responsiveness. For prospective residents and families, an on-site visit that includes looking into the memory-care areas, asking about staffing ratios and turnover, observing a meal service, and reviewing billing/refund procedures will help clarify how well the facility’s strengths match personal priorities.

    About The Echelon of Medina

The Echelon of Medina sits four blocks from the Historic Medina Square in a clean, nice area and provides a range of choices for older adults who want Independent Living, Assisted Living, or Memory Care, and the way they've set up the place is you've got the luxury Independent Living section tucked away in the back of the property where folks who can handle things mostly on their own can live hassle-free, enjoy a social, active lifestyle, and still get services like housekeeping, linen changes, and meals made fresh with high quality, organic ingredients, while the front of the property holds a modern Assisted Living and Memory Care building designed for those who need more support with things like bathing, dressing, or medication management, so it all lines up for a smooth transition if extra help becomes necessary over time, and you've got everything on site like a wellness center, warm-water therapy pool, a Himalayan salt room, theater, game room, and even an Old World Pub and Fireside Dining - they do farm-to-table meals prepared by a chef and you can pick from main dining halls or other smaller spots across the grounds, lots of large, bright windows in the dining rooms too because ambiance matters at mealtime, and they've got WiFi, air-conditioning, cable, phones, and private or shared rooms with kitchenettes and private baths, so everybody's got personal space and comfort. Folks get nurse support 12-16 hours daily, a 24-hour call system, transportation to appointments - including their community shuttle and sometimes even a Rolls Royce - and there's easy coordination with on-site primary care doctors, audiologists, dentists, eye doctors, podiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatrists, so you're not running around town for health care, and for those managing diabetes or memory issues, the staff knows what they're doing with special care plans and safety features for those with dementia or Alzheimer's, all designed to keep everyone as comfortable and secure as possible. They also handle activities every day, from music nights to cooking classes, art, supervised outings, scheduled travel, shopping trips, devotional services, and even events run by residents themselves, so nobody's left out, and there's a strong sense of community with neighbors and staff treating everyone with warmth and kindness, celebrating stories, and enjoying laughter together. The building stays very clean, maintenance is handled, and the grounds have gardens, outdoor courtyards, fitness rooms, computer centers, a beauty salon, small libraries, and a wellness center for exercise or health programs, with lots of social spots like coffeehouses and tea rooms, and access nearby to parks and places like Panera Bread. Safety's covered with sprinklers and handicap features, and they handle property upkeep, laundry, personal care, and meal services for folks with special diets. Echelon of Medina really keeps a close connection with Historic Medina, providing both the comforts of home and the coverage of professional care, all while honoring each person's evolving needs as they age.
