    Compassionate, clean, responsive, personalized care

I'm very pleased with Skyview - the staff, nurses, and aides are loving, communicative, and truly invested in residents' success; care is personalized, wounds healed, and meals and activities are excellent. The facility is clean and partly remodeled (it's an older, not-fancy building), with transparent, responsive management, so I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews present a mixed but instructive picture of Skyview Nursing Center. Many commenters describe strong clinical care from nurses and aides โ€” staff who are characterized as compassionate, supportive and effective at addressing specific clinical needs such as wound management. Families frequently praise open communication with staff and administration, and several reviewers specifically note visible clinical improvements and a personalized approach to residentsโ€™ care plans. The activities program and meal service are recurring strengths in the positive comments: reviewers describe engaging, inclusive activities and meals that residents enjoy.

At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns that prospective families should evaluate. Multiple comments point to inconsistent staff responsiveness and occasions when staff conduct or supervision appear problematic; this has led to concerns about delays in attention and, in a few cases, delayed emergency response. Some reviewers raised issues with infection-control practices and inconsistent adherence to protocols. Relatedly, cleanliness and sanitation are described as uneven โ€” areas that have been renovated are often noted positively, while other parts of the building are described as needing painting or additional upkeep.

Facility condition and amenities show the same dichotomy: new management and active remodeling have produced noticeable improvements in some wings, and reviewers praise the administrator and owners for investment in the facility. Conversely, the building remains older in parts, with limited in-room amenities (for example, limited TV/phone setup) and insufficient visitor seating cited as operational limitations. These physical and amenity gaps contribute to the perception that quality can vary by unit or shift.

Management and culture also present contrasting themes. Several reviewers commend the current administration for transparency, reliability, and a resident-centered orientation. Other comments describe inconsistent professionalism in communication and uneven enforcement of protocols (including infection-control measures), which suggests variability in supervision and culture across the staff. Taken together, the reviews indicate that Skyview has demonstrable strengths in clinical care, activities, and areas under renovation, but also persistent operational issuesโ€”particularly around staffing consistency, emergency procedures, sanitation in some areas, and amenities.

If you are considering Skyview, an on-site visit is advisable: observe staffing levels across different times of day, ask about emergency-response protocols and recent regulatory or inspection records, confirm the status and scope of ongoing renovations, and evaluate room amenities and visitor accommodations. These targeted questions can help determine whether the aspects important to your family align with the facilityโ€™s current performance and recent improvements.

    About Skyview Nursing Center

Skyview Nursing Center in Oklahoma City has been caring for seniors since 1987 on a quiet, wooded 3-acre campus, and over the years, many people have come to know it for its friendly staff and safe environment, even though its Medicare report lists 2 deficiencies and 4 complaints, which some folks might want to consider. The facility has 60 beds and is licensed for Medicaid and Medicare, and usually about 45 seniors live there at a time, getting nursing home care and help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, medication, or eating if they need it, and there's always a nurse on site at least 12 to 16 hours every day, with 24-hour staff on call for emergencies, so someone's always ready to help. Seniors who stay at Skyview Nursing Center often get access to skilled nursing and medical treatment, wound care, IV therapy, diabetic and cardiac care, and sometimes more specialized support like oxygen therapy, colostomy care, or physical, speech, and occupational therapy-in short, people often go there after surgery or a hospital visit when they need some extra time to recover, and the place tries to meet complicated medical needs as well.

Skyview offers private and semiprivate rooms with furnishings, private bathrooms, cable TV, air conditioning, telephones, Wi-Fi, and even small kitchenettes, and the staff keeps things clean and comfortable with weekly laundry and house cleaning, so residents usually don't have to worry about chores. Three meals a day come from a chef and staff who prepare food in the dining hall, serving restaurant-style meals, with special menus for allergies or diabetes, plus snacks and treats like an ice cream bar. Folks who stay at Skyview choose from lots of daily activities-things like movie nights, Bible study, music and arts activities, ice cream socials, hallway bowling, fitness and outdoor walks, and programs in rooms for games, crafts, or just reading in the small library. There are gardens, nature walks, and outdoor areas for those who want some fresh air, and the whole place has Wi-Fi and cable, so residents can keep busy or stay in touch with family and friends.

Transport is available for appointments or community outings, and there's parking for those who still drive. The staff help with medication, personal care, transfers, and encouraging everyone to join group activities or use community areas like a fitness room, spa, movie theater, game room, arts room, and business room. The center provides mental health counseling-both one-on-one and classes-and family support services, so residents and their families can talk through concerns or just get help adjusting. Special secure care is available for folks coping with Alzheimer's or memory issues, with memory-enhancing activities and trained staff awake around the clock. Skyview also offers respite care, supports hospice, connects with local advisors for those looking for other living options, and provides brochures with more details for anyone wanting to learn more.

Skyview Nursing Center Inc. serves people looking for long-term or short-term care, and its 17 years of Medicare and Medicaid certification means it's stayed up to date with government rules. Besides nursing care, rehab, and day-to-day help, the center cares enough to make sure meals are healthy, rooms are cozy, and everyone gets the medical attention and companionship they need, and while it isn't perfect, it does offer a stable place for seniors in Oklahoma City who need round-the-clock support and attention.
