    Personalized care in intimate home

I placed my mom here and couldn't be happier - Emma and Peter run a genuine, family-like home with attentive, well-trained staff who know residents by name, provide personalized care, and respond quickly. The freshly remodeled, very clean facility is quiet and intimate with a lovely deck and great food; my mom feels safe, comfortable, and truly cared for, and I recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviewers describe Clackamas Heights as a small, owner-operated assisted living community with a strong emphasis on personalized, family-style care. The facility earns consistent praise for compassionate caregiving, hands-on management, and a clean, home-like environment. Many families highlighted rapid responsiveness from leadership and staff, smooth admissions and transfers, and continuity of caregivers who learn residents' names and preferences.

Care and staff: Care quality is presented as a central strength. Caregivers and med-aides are described as attentive, affectionate, and knowledgeable; several accounts note effective clinical support during illnesses and hospice transitions. Reviewers singled out administrative and ownership engagement—named leadership is frequently credited with being present, responsive, and knowledgeable about specific conditions such as Parkinson’s disease. At the same time, some families noted occasional concerns about staffing levels and an isolated concern regarding the communication style of a clinical staff member; these are framed as areas where consistency could be improved.

Dining and activities: Dining receives positive comments, including good, home-style meals and praise for the chef. However, activity programming and transportation are recurring operational limitations. The facility’s small size constrains the breadth of activities and the cognitive mix of residents, which may not suit families seeking a larger or more varied social program. Several reviewers expressed a desire for on-site or scheduled transportation (a van) to support outings and off-site activities.

Facilities and environment: The community is described as clean, welcoming, and recently remodeled in common areas, with a quiet, secluded setting and usable outdoor deck space. Room size and finish conditions were characterized as generally adequate but somewhat mixed—some areas feel freshly updated while others retain older fixtures. The property lacks in-room kitchenettes, which may matter to prospective residents seeking greater independence with food preparation.

Management and notable patterns: Ownership and management are repeatedly identified as engaged and authentic, contributing to a strong culture of individualized care. The small scale supports close staff–resident relationships and quick responsiveness, but it also amplifies the impact of staffing fluctuations and limits program diversity. Prospective residents and families who prioritize personalized attention, a calm setting, and active owner involvement are likely to find this community appealing; those who need frequent off-site transportation, a broader activity slate, or a larger resident mix should assess those areas during a visit.
