    Supportive staff and homey community

I toured and moved my parent in and have had a very positive experience - staff (especially Elias Kurban), caregivers and maintenance are wonderfully supportive and communicative. The chef accommodated dietary needs and the food is balanced and tasty; my dad is eating more and gaining strength. The small, clean, well-maintained community feels homey with lots of activities, friendly residents, and helpful admission support. I highly recommend Homewood Heights.

    Summary of reviews

Homewood Assisted Living is consistently described as a small, well‑appointed community with a homelike atmosphere. Reviewers emphasize bright, spacious apartments with generous closet space, contemporary interior finishes, and attractive outdoor areas including river-view seating and raised garden beds. The facility offers multiple on-site amenities — activity rooms, a library, salon/barbershop, laundry and housekeeping services — that support resident independence and comfort.

Care and staff performance are among the facility's strongest features. Many families note long‑tenured, personable staff who know residents by name, individualized care plans with family involvement, and helpful support during memory-care transitions. Kitchen and dining staff receive repeated praise for accommodating dietary needs and helping residents regain weight or appetite. Activities programming is active and varied, with exercise classes, brain games, art, puzzles, and occasional bus outings that contribute to a close-knit community feel.

At the same time, there are consistent operational patterns that prospective families should evaluate. Several accounts point to inconsistent staffing levels and training, with weekend clinical coverage and after-hours responsiveness identified as recurring pressure points. Administrative communication and organizational consistency are described as uneven; this includes billing and pricing transparency concerns as well as occasional leadership/coordination lapses. These factors have been associated with episodic declines in perceived care continuity and family frustration around transitions of care.

Dining is generally regarded as a strength, particularly when the kitchen is accommodating to special diets, but reviewers also describe variability in menu options and occasional limited alternate choices. Transportation and outings are available but may be limited in frequency, which reduces off‑campus engagement for residents who value regular excursions. Physical-site concerns tend to be limited to exterior maintenance and occasional gaps in common‑area seating or social-space distribution rather than pervasive sanitation issues.

Overall, Homewood presents as an attractive, small-scale assisted living option with strong relational caregiving, good amenities, and an environment that many residents find welcoming. Prospective residents and families should confirm specifics around staffing (including weekend and overnight coverage), after-hours access procedures, meal plan flexibility, transportation schedules, and billing practices during the tour and prior to move‑in to ensure alignment with care expectations and logistical needs.

    About Homewood Assisted Living

Homewood Heights Assisted Living Community sits along the Willamette River in Jennings Lodge, OR, and has a user rating of 4.4 based on 7 reviews, which shows that people seem pretty satisfied, and when you arrive, you see a classic colonial-style building with a covered entrance, an American flag, and well-kept landscaping, making you feel welcome right away, and once inside, you find an inviting lobby focused on respect and trust, and if you look around, you'll notice private apartments that come in studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom floor plans, all with their own bathrooms, emergency call systems, and kitchenettes for easy living, and each place feels homey and comfortable, not fancy but set up for quiet dignity.

The staff help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and taking medicine, and if you need more, they can adjust the care plan for things like incontinence or transitions into memory care, and part-time nurses support health needs, while the team invests effort in building long-term relationships with both residents and families, always aiming to meet physical and emotional needs.

Meals happen three times a day in a restaurant-style dining room with big windows and shining chandeliers, or if you're not up for the main room, there's room service or an "Anytime Menu," and they make sure choices fit special dietary needs, always trying to keep food both healthy and appealing.

Homewood Heights believes staying active helps people feel better, so they run a Celebrations wellness program, which includes lifelong learning, arts and crafts, music, gardening, a fitness center, and lots of outings, plus a calendar full of weekly events organized by a dedicated Activities Director, and there's even a spa and beauty/barber shop to help people feel their best, while a library, lounge, and puzzle table in quiet corners give spaces for reading and visiting with friends.

Residents are welcome to bring pets, and if you need help taking care of your animal companion, staff can pitch in, and outside, there's a safe courtyard with a gazebo and walking path, giving people a chance for fresh air and gentle exercise without leaving the secure grounds.

Other helpful features include weekly housekeeping, linen and cleaning services, Wi-Fi, accessibility for those who use wheelchairs, and secured gates with 24-hour supervision, and if someone needs help getting to appointments or errands, scheduled transportation covers trips to nearby shops, medical offices, and restaurants.

Short-term stays are possible for those who need extra support for a while, and Homewood Heights works together with home health and hospice care if that's ever needed, so each person can keep as much independence as possible in a safe and friendly community where staff pay attention to detail and put a real effort into making daily life go smoothly.
