    Intimate home with excellent care

I toured and chose this intimate, impeccably kept home because the pricing felt fair and the young owners (excellent, skilled nurses) and staff like Samir and Qasim were knowledgeable, kind and funny. The food is excellent and made from scratch (they even served honey cake), rooms are small/private or semi-private with one communal dining area and a large living room, and the team provides personalized, dignified care-including therapy and hospice-while staying responsive to families. I was very pleased overall; warm, family-style atmosphere and top-notch clinical skill make this a trustworthy place.

    Summary of reviews

Overview: The facility presents as a small, residential-style care home with a consistent emphasis on a homelike, family-oriented environment. Reviews emphasize careful upkeep and cleanliness, and they repeatedly describe the house as welcoming and well-appointed. The property sits adjacent to Rivercrest Park, offering convenient park access, though the wooded lot produces lower natural light in some interior spaces.

Care quality and clinical services: Care is described as attentive and individualized. Nursing staff and caregivers are characterized as knowledgeable, respectful, and capable of addressing complex health needs; hospice and rehabilitative therapy services are also available. Reviewers highlight a focus on dignity, health promotion, and personalized care plans. Regular communication with families—through photos and scheduled video calls—is noted as a routine practice that supports family involvement and clinical transparency.

Staff and management: Staff are consistently described as friendly, respectful, and skilled, with specific mention of strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to go above and beyond routine duties. Ownership and management are portrayed as accessible and responsive, assisting families with administrative steps such as DHS/Medicaid processes. Review comments suggest a small, stable team that fosters a familial atmosphere.

Dining and daily life: Meals are a clear strength: reviewers describe fresh, scratch-made food served family-style in a single dining area, with examples such as homemade desserts. The dining experience appears to be communal and oriented toward home-cooked quality. Daily activities are less specifically documented in the reviews; the small scale of the home implies a quieter, more personalized daily routine rather than a large-program activity schedule.

Facilities and accommodations: Accommodations include a mix of private and semi-private rooms; rooms are described as small but personalized. There are community bathing facilities rather than individual ensuite bathrooms, which may affect privacy and scheduling for personal care. Outdoor space is limited—a small backyard—while the park-adjacent location provides alternative outdoor access. The wooded setting and neighboring properties contribute to a quieter but darker interior environment and somewhat limited privacy in outdoor areas.

Notable patterns and considerations: The overall pattern in reviews is strongly positive, focusing on cleanliness, staff demeanor, personalized care, and good-quality meals at a reasonable price point. Potential residents and families should weigh the advantages of a small, intimate setting against operational constraints such as limited private space, shared bathing facilities, modest outdoor areas, and small facility capacity that can restrict availability. For families seeking close communication with staff, individualized care, and a homelike atmosphere, this facility appears to offer consistent strengths; for those prioritizing abundant private space, bright interiors, or extensive on-site activity programming, the setting may be less well suited.

    About Cedar Senior Living

Cedar Senior Living sits among tall trees, koi ponds, and mature gardens, with walking paths winding throughout, and the small homes are built with craftsman details, so everything feels close and easy to reach, and the places like Ivy Court Senior Living and Hillside Senior Care make up part of a bigger community of support. The facility fits into several covers, like assisted living homes, adult foster homes called Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3, independent living, and residential care, so folks have options if needs change. Cedar Senior Living has licensed beds for those who need daily help, and you'll find assisted living and memory care programs side by side, with trained staff on hand, and the owners are Registered Nurses who run things directly. The caregivers create customized care plans, handle medication management, and assist with things like diabetes care, wound care, tube feeding, and hospice services, so if somebody needs more medical help, they don't have to leave.

Community life stays active with spacious apartments, social and wellness programs, a weekly fresh menu planned by an in-house chef-including options for special diets-and activities that aim to keep folks independent and connected, with off-site excursions, transportation to appointments, and regular engagement through the Vitality programs. Residents take part in community-focused activities and can enjoy things like landscaped gardens, spacious common rooms, recreational areas, and a warm, homelike atmosphere, while still having privacy in large rooms with half-baths. Cedar Senior Living keeps things straightforward: families and residents talk with care providers during assessments, and weekly in-house medical visits like labs and imaging cut down on trips out. They offer short-term respite stays in fully furnished apartments for at least thirty days if somebody just needs a safe place to recover or give family caregivers a break.

The service approach leans into careful, inclusive care-helping with daily tasks, meals, laundry, housekeeping, post-fall care, and more, and all the services are tied together with a focus on meeting each person's needs without making things feel clinical. The facility provides help for those with intellectual disabilities, has hospice care if needed, and keeps a line open for families who want to check in or take a virtual tour. The goal at Cedar Senior Living is to support independence, dignity, and community, all while staying close to nature parks and city offerings, so seniors can enjoy their days feeling safe and cared for in a comfortable place.
