    Attentive compassionate staff aided recovery

I stayed here after surgery and had a very positive experience. The staff were attentive, compassionate, and focused on my recovery - excellent PT and wound care helped me progress steadily. My room and accessible shower were roomy, meals were tasty and well-presented, and the quiet grounds and activities made it feel home-like. The facility is clean and well-maintained; staff treated me like family, and I recommend it for quality, healing-centered care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Most reviewers highlighted strong post-acute and rehabilitative services at Glisan Post Acute, praising attentive nursing, a skilled therapy team, and progress-oriented recovery programs. Many families described a caring, family-like atmosphere and staff who are friendly and focused on resident comfort. Facility amenities such as spacious accessible rooms, accessible showers, large grounds, outdoor space, and a quiet environment were consistently viewed as positive contributors to recovery and day-to-day quality of life.

Care and staff: Reviews commonly emphasize compassionate, hands-on nursing and therapy staff who provide prompt assistance and individualized attention. Several accounts describe positive experiences after surgery or short-term rehab, with therapists and nursing staff credited for supporting measurable recovery. The tone of staff–resident interactions is frequently described as friendly and home-like, and reviewers often recommended the facility based on the quality of direct care.

Dining and activities: Dining received generally favorable mentions — food was described as well-prepared, attractively presented, and tasty. A recurring operational note is that portion sizes can be inconsistent, with occasional reports of smaller portions. Activity programming and outdoor access were noted as strengths that support resident engagement and emotional wellbeing.

Facilities: Physical plant features are a clear positive in multiple reviews: large, accessible rooms and showers, pleasant grounds, and a quiet setting conducive to rest and recovery. These elements align with the facility’s apparent focus on rehabilitation and comfort.

Management and notable patterns: While the overall tone of reviews is positive, there are isolated but significant concerns that prospective residents and families should evaluate further. Allegations of personal property loss and staff-related privacy breaches were raised and represent serious operational issues; these point to potential weaknesses in property-security practices and staff conduct protocols. A separate strand of feedback suggests gaps in safety oversight and incident prevention, which warrants direct inquiry during a tour or pre-admission conversation. Administrative anomalies and mixed comments about responsiveness also appeared in a few summaries, so asking for clarity on policies for incident reporting, property tracking, staffing ratios, and meal service consistency is advisable.

Recommendation for families: Glisan Post Acute appears to deliver strong rehabilitation, attentive nursing, pleasant physical amenities, and engaging programming for many residents. However, because there are mentions of staff-conduct and security concerns, families should verify current management responses to these issues, review recent inspection reports, and discuss safeguards (e.g., staff training, property-inventory procedures, supervision) before making a placement decision. A focused visit and direct questions about safety protocols, staffing, and meal policies will help determine whether the facility’s strengths align with an individual resident’s needs and risk profile.

    About Glisan Post Acute

Glisan Post Acute, also known as Glisan Care Center, sits at 9750 NE Glisan Street in Portland, Oregon, in a spot close to Gateway Shopping Center and the Max Station, and it's hard to miss since it's just minutes away from three Portland hospitals, which can really help folks who may need quick medical support or rehab after a hospital stay, and this is a facility with a focus on post-acute and rehabilitation care, taking in people who need a little extra support after an illness, surgery, or hospital visit, and you'll see they have 100 beds in private, semi-private, and three-bedroom rooms so residents can choose an option that feels right for them, and for those living here, meals and housekeeping are part of the monthly rent, with nutritious meals cooked on-site every day. The center has staff who speak English and sometimes other languages, and they work hard to make everyone feel comfortable and safe, and you'll see that the team has experienced caregivers and licensed experts who guide residents along the way, offering help with daily care, managing health needs, and creating a care plan for each person based on their preferences and goals, and the team includes nurses with experience in wound care, pain management, and support for folks with complex needs.

There's a specialized Alzheimer's and dementia care unit, so families looking for memory support can find it here, and the place also has a transitional care unit for people who may not be ready to go home yet but don't need to be in the hospital anymore and just need recovery help, like therapy or rehab after surgery, stroke, or a heart issue. Glisan Post Acute is part of Prestige Care, Inc. and falls under Prestige Senior Living, LLC umbrella, and the place is supported by PACS for both admin and online functions, which means folks can look up some info about the center on the internet pretty easily.

Residents can depend on the center for help with bathing, dressing, and incontinence, and they can use indoor and outdoor common areas to visit and relax, which can make the days go by a little easier, and here, the staff tries to make sure everyone feels welcome, whether they're staying just for rehab or for longer term. There's a Nursing Assistant Training Program in the building, which can mean the staff stays up to date and works hard, maybe that's why families often notice the team brings compassion and helpfulness, and several staff members have worked at the center for a long time, which helps with stability and getting to know the residents a bit better.

For folks needing medical support, Glisan Post Acute offers around-the-clock skilled nursing care and treatment for things like wound healing, IV therapy, cancer recovery, tracheostomy care, dialysis needs, and nutritional support, plus there are lab, pharmacy, and X-ray services available, so residents don't have to leave for those appointments as much. They've got physical, occupational, and speech therapy six to seven days a week, as well as programs for balance, fall prevention, pulmonary issues, bariatric care, joint replacement recovery, and other rehab services, and the staff works together to check how each resident's care is going and update their plan as needed.

People here can join in on activities from the monthly calendar, use transportation help for appointments, sit out in the landscaped gardens, or use the large, bright indoor spaces to socialize or enjoy some downtime, and as a Medicaid and Medicare contracted provider along with managed care health plans, Glisan Post Acute is set up to welcome many types of insurance. The staff helps residents work toward as much independence as possible, and the environment aims to be caring and warm, making it a place where people can recover and feel at home while getting strong medical attention if needed.
