    Kind staff, clean facility, recommended

I placed my [relative] here and have been very pleased - the staff are kind, attentive and knowledgeable, communication is excellent, and the facility is clean, attractive and home-like. My loved one enjoys the food and the wide range of activities (worship, crafts, music/karaoke and outings), and staff are quick to respond to requests. I'd highly recommend this community - outstanding overall with just a little room for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans positive with important caveats. Many reviewers praise Lakewood Assisted Living (Clark Road) for its friendly, attentive staff, attractive and home-like facility, and an active residents’ program. Multiple summaries describe a new or one-year-old facility with a good layout, a central dining room, and pleasant common spaces. Reviewers frequently highlight the staff as kind, knowledgeable, quick to attend to requests, and care-focused; families report that residents are happy, enjoy the food, and participate in activities, and several reviewers would highly recommend the community.

Care quality and staffing receive mostly positive comments but with notable exceptions. Numerous reviews praise caregivers as attentive and communicative, and some explicitly recommend the community for memory issues or note it as a very good place for residents with cognitive needs. Conversely, several reviews raise serious concerns: staffing shortages and lapses in oversight were reported during COVID, some reviewers flagged medication administration errors or minor medication issues, and a few mentioned that staff were at times unable to do their jobs effectively. These contrasting reports create a pattern of generally good day-to-day care for many residents but with pockets of concern that prospective families should investigate further.

Activities and dining are often listed among the community’s strengths. Positive reviewers describe a wide variety of programming — crafts, music and karaoke, worship services and Bible studies, outings to shops and restaurants, and seasonal trips to farms for apples and strawberries. One reviewer specifically praised a good crafts area and steady entertainment. However, activity offerings appear inconsistent in a few accounts; some reviewers characterized the schedule as limited (bingo only), indicating variability in how robust the activity program feels to different residents or at different times.

Facility condition and cleanliness are commonly noted as positives, with many describing the building as beautiful, clean, and attractive. A number of long-term family experiences (including two-year stays) report satisfaction with upkeep and resident happiness. At the same time, a few reviewers pointed out maintenance and cleanliness issues — such as carpet replacement needs and a desire for improved housekeeping — suggesting that while overall presentation is strong, attention to some details is inconsistent.

Management, licensing, and safety are the most significant and divergent themes in the reviews. Several reviewers report administrative problems and have called for leadership change. A small but vocal set of reviews alleges that the executive director’s license was revoked and expresses concerns about lack of leadership and zero dementia training for staff; one reviewer specifically said false information was given about licensing status while another said the license had not been revoked, producing conflicting accounts. These reports are accompanied by safety concerns and at least one instance where a family felt the facility was not safe enough to bring a parent back. Because these are serious allegations with contradictory accounts, they represent the primary red flag emerging from the review set and warrant direct verification with the facility and appropriate regulatory agencies.

In summary, many reviewers found Lakewood Assisted Living (Clark Road) to be a beautiful, well-staffed, activity-rich community with good food and a home-like atmosphere. However, a subset of reviewers raised important concerns about administration, licensing clarity, dementia training and programming, occasional staffing or medication administration issues, and inconsistent cleanliness. These mixed signals suggest that the facility delivers a high-quality experience for many residents but has episodic or localized problems that some families encountered. Prospective residents and families should tour the community, ask for up-to-date licensure and inspection records, inquire specifically about dementia training and memory-care programming, review staffing levels and medication administration procedures, and confirm activity schedules and housekeeping routines before making a placement decision.
