    Attentive staff, excellent memory care

My mom moved in and I'm very pleased - the staff are consistently warm, professional and attentive, and the memory-care program is excellent. The community is spotless with a beautiful courtyard, lots of engaging activities (live music, outings, pet therapy), clear communication and thoughtful med management, and rooms/common areas are comfortable. It's a great value compared with other options and my mom is noticeably happier and well cared for - I'd recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

The Pearl at Five Forks is described by many families as a community with strong caregiving and clinical capabilities complemented by an active life-enrichment program. Care quality and clinical responsiveness are frequently highlighted: nursing and rehab services are characterized as competent and timely, with examples of prompt medical attention when needed and appropriate medication adjustments. The community is positioned as rehabilitation-capable and able to provide skilled-nursing-level services when ordered by an MD. Families also cite effective intake and care-planning processes that help transition residents into appropriate levels of care.

Staff are consistently characterized as compassionate, attentive, and communicative. Reviewers note a warm, home-like atmosphere and many positive interactions between staff and residents, with staff stability and low turnover cited as contributors to continuity of care. Communication with families is often noted as proactive, with regular updates and photos; tour staff and admissions personnel are commonly described as helpful and informative. These relational strengths appear to support smooth acclimation for many residents and confidence among families.

Activities and social programming are a clear strength of the community. Reviewers mention a variety of daily activities, live music, outings (ice cream trips, school visits), and a dedicated activities director. The facility’s outdoor courtyard and walking areas receive positive remarks as attractive, usable spaces that support socialization and exercise. This engagement is reported to improve residents’ mood and social connections in numerous accounts.

Facility amenities and rooms are generally described as modern and comfortable, with private rooms and baths available. Several reviewers praised clean, newly furnished rooms, pleasant common areas, and well-maintained indoor and outdoor spaces. Pricing is frequently presented as competitive relative to other local options, and some families specifically noted good perceived value for cost.

Notable patterns of concern center on operational consistency. Housekeeping and laundry processes are the most commonly cited operational weakness: families reported lapses in cleaning, laundry mix-ups, delays returning items, and occasional sanitation concerns in specific areas. Weekend and evening staffing levels appear to be lower than daytime coverage, which reviewers link to slower response times, reduced administrative presence, and less staff visibility in dining or activity spaces during those periods. Relatedly, there are accounts of personal-care tasks (grooming, shaving, nail care, bathing) being inconsistently completed, suggesting variability in daily care execution for some residents.

Dining quality draws mixed feedback: some families find meals satisfactory or delicious, while others describe bland or inconsistent flavor and dining experiences. A smaller but meaningful cluster of comments addresses initial move-in coordination and room readiness; these describe situations where rooms required additional cleaning or minor maintenance before settling in. Memory-care suitability also shows variability: while the facility provides specialized dementia programming and some families felt well supported, other families judged the community not to be the right fit for advanced memory-care needs.

In sum, The Pearl at Five Forks presents many strengths in caregiving culture, clinical responsiveness, activities, and facility amenities. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against operational variability in housekeeping, weekend staffing, and certain daily-care tasks. Those for whom consistent housekeeping and comprehensive weekend staffing are high priorities may want to ask targeted questions about weekend coverage, laundry procedures, and personal-care scheduling during tours. Families prioritizing strong activity programming, rehabilitative services, and a communicative care team are likely to find The Pearl aligned with their needs.

About The Pearl at Five Forks

The Pearl at Five Forks sits in a southern-style home near the Appalachian Mountains, surrounded by green trees, and has a calm and welcoming feel where people seem to settle in and really get to know each other, probably because the place draws people from places like Spartanburg and Greenville and even more nearby towns, and the focus here is on helping adults who live with memory problems, especially Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, so there's a special memory care neighborhood that's set up kind of like a regular home with familiar furniture and all the things that can help reduce confusion or wandering. The caregivers, called a family of caregivers, are trained for personalized support and watch residents throughout the day to see how they're doing, and there's also staff who handle medication and daily activities, with an activities director keeping families in the loop and planning things like Active Reminiscing, music therapy, and pet therapy. There's a courtyard and patio for quiet time, plus field trips and outings when the weather's nice, and sometimes schoolchildren visit during holidays, which tends to cheer everyone up. The Pearl at Five Forks provides different living options, including assisted living for those who need help with dressing or meals, memory care for those with cognitive problems, and independent living for folks over 55 who want their own place but with less fuss, so it's got all the modern things you'd expect, like laundry, food that's about as good as a restaurant, and housekeeping, but what people talk about most is how clean it is and how the staff stays calm and understanding when someone's having a hard day. Social activities round out the week, trying to make sure everyone stays engaged, and the comfort here comes from both the thoughtful design and the routines, whether it's in the Memory Care neighborhood with special programming or out in the wider community where everyone is encouraged to live with as much purpose as they can while holding onto their independence.
