    Kind attentive staff, smooth move-in

I moved my mom in and I'm very pleased. The staff are absolutely wonderful-kind, attentive and treat residents like family. The community is clean and well-kept, with good-sized apartments, lovely grounds, three meals a day, and plenty of activities (bingo, outings, salon). Memory care is solid, move-in was smooth, and communication has been responsive. I feel my loved one is safe and well cared for and would recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Red Cedar Glen elicits strongly mixed but recurring themes. Many families and residents praise the caregiving teams, describing compassionate, attentive staff, a robust activity calendar, on-site clinical services, and a social, family-like atmosphere that supports residents’ wellbeing. The community offers apartment-style living with single-level layouts, outdoor spaces, salon and fitness amenities, transportation to appointments, and renovated units that appeal to new residents.

At the same time, operational inconsistencies appear across several domains. Dining is a frequent flashpoint: some reviewers describe restaurant-quality meals and a talented chef, while others cite undercooked or cold items, small portions, and occasional shortages. Housekeeping and laundry are generally provided weekly, but follow-through is inconsistent in some accounts. Maintenance and building-condition concerns are also present—reviewers contrast newly upgraded apartments with older units that need further renovation, and they report slow responses to plumbing and repair requests.

Clinical care and safety receive mixed feedback. Nursing staff are often praised for prompt, same-day assistance and hands-on care, and the presence of in-house therapy and medical practitioners is a strength. However, reviewers have raised medication-management issues, pharmacy coordination problems, and lapses in clinical follow-through in certain cases. These are operational gaps that prospective families should probe when evaluating the community.

Management and administration are another area of divergence. Positive experiences include attentive admissions help and clear move-in support. Negative patterns include billing confusion, delayed refunds, auto-draft and notice concerns, inconsistent communication about fees and readmission policies, and uneven front-desk interactions. There are also isolated, serious allegations (including concerns about animal handling and review-blocking) that prospective visitors may want to ask about directly.

Activities and social life are consistently highlighted as strengths: frequent events, outings, exercise programs, and opportunities for social connection contribute to residents’ engagement. For many residents the community is transformative socially and emotionally. For others, the resident experience depends heavily on which unit they occupy and which staff are on shift.

Practical guidance for prospective families: tour multiple unit types (renovated and older), sample a meal, meet nursing and pharmacy contacts, review the contract for fee inclusions and readmission rules, and ask about staffing patterns and maintenance response times. Red Cedar Glen can offer strong social programming and caring staff, but the value proposition appears contingent on unit condition and operational consistency; direct questioning and on-site observation will help determine whether it aligns with a given resident’s priorities and clinical needs.

    About Red Cedar Glen

Red Cedar Glen sits on eight wooded acres just outside Nashville, TN, so folks can enjoy a peaceful place with walking paths and a community garden right on the grounds, and there are both independent living and assisted living options here, so healthy seniors can keep busy without worry over chores, while those needing a bit more help get support with bathing, dressing, medication reminders, and daily personal care. People here seem to get along like family, with friendly neighbors and staff who look out for everyone, and there's a full schedule of activities-movie nights, themed parties, daily exercise, game room fun like poker, and local outings, so boredom's not much of a problem. There's a community garden, outdoor patios, a courtyard with a portico for sitting out in the fresh air, and common rooms like TV lounges, a library, fitness center, piano/organ area, fireplace gathering spots, and even a "Main Street" with places to chat or relax. Red Cedar Glen's got scheduled transportation for outings and doctor visits, along with grocery shopping, and offers both complimentary rides and rides at cost, depending on where someone needs to go. Meals come restaurant-style, and special diets can be managed, while guests are welcome at mealtime, so family can feel included. There's an on-site barber and beauty salon for a haircut or style, plus a concierge for help with various tasks, and staff handle housekeeping and laundry to keep things tidy. Medical care is coordinated closely with local providers, and there's a 24-hour call system with staff always available, along with an emergency response system and secured access after hours for peace of mind. Red Cedar Glen recognizes several faiths, providing Catholic, Protestant, and other devotional services both onsite and offsite so various spiritual needs are met. The facility offers age-restricted living only for people 55 and older, and has assisted living floor plans called The Keystone (studio with private bath) and The Portal/Suite (two-bedroom with one bath), so folks can pick what best fits their needs. Staff at Red Cedar Glen use a person-centered approach, taking time to learn each resident's likes to tailor care, and the team can help with personal activities, medication management, transportation, therapy, and more. The place has a wellness center and therapy room, equipment to help with strength and movement, and employs doctors, psychiatrists, and psychoanalysts in their clinic for further support. Payment works with Veterans Benefits and Long Term Care Insurance, but not Medicare or Medicaid. Greenbrier Senior Living manages the property, and seems to put a lot of focus on keeping people active, supported, and connected, helping residents keep their independence in a safe, comfortable setting.
