    Compassionate professional staff and care

I had a very positive experience - the staff were consistently kind, professional, and communicative, with Kyle and the therapy/nursing teams especially helpful. The facility is clean, well-equipped, and welcoming, and the personalized rehab and respiratory care really made a difference. I'm grateful for the compassionate, attentive team and would recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Park Manor of McKinney receives frequent praise for the quality and compassion of its direct-care staff. Many families and visitors describe nurses, CNAs, therapists and respiratory clinicians as attentive, professional and genuinely invested in resident wellโ€‘being; several individual staff members (including admissions and respiratory staff) are repeatedly named for providing clear communication, training for families, and strong clinical support. The facilityโ€™s respiratory program and rehabilitation services are commonly characterized as well-equipped and effective; reviewers cite successful shortโ€‘term rehab outcomes, useful outpatient programs, and therapists who provide individualized plans and earlyโ€‘morning appointments.

Care quality is a mix of strong clinical capability and inconsistent dayโ€‘toโ€‘day execution. While many accounts highlight prompt callโ€‘light response, effective wound care, and dependable caregivers, a notable subset of reviews describe variability in nursing responsiveness, missed or inconsistent care tasks, and concerns about fall prevention and transfer safety. There are documented instances where these operational gaps led families to raise significant concerns about resident safety and the need for closer clinical oversight. Communication strengths are often tied to specific staff members (admissions, social work, therapy), but reviewers also reported intermittent breakdowns in coordination between departments.

Dining and activities are generally seen as positives: the facility offers engaging programming (games, bingo, weekly church) and several reviewers complimented homeโ€‘style meals and accommodating kitchen staff. That said, food service experiences are uneven across reports, with a few families describing cold meals or service lapses. The activities and social environment are frequently characterized as welcoming and conducive to residents forming friendships and routines.

Facility condition and management present a mixed picture. Many reviewers describe common areas and the overall building as clean, attractive, and well maintained, and staff are praised for creating a warm, familyโ€‘like atmosphere. However, there are recurring operational concerns at the room level: small or outdated rooms, occasional maintenance failures (nonfunctional outlets, airโ€‘conditioning issues), and sanitation lapses in resident rooms and some dining areas. Additional systemic issues noted include pestโ€‘control concerns, perimeter access and security process weaknesses, and administrative problems such as billing errors, scheduling mistakes, and intermittent unresponsiveness from management.

Taken together, Park Manor of McKinney offers robust clinical and therapy capabilities with a clearly engaged staff base that many families trust. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facilityโ€™s strong respiratory and rehab services, compassionate caregivers, and active social programming against operational inconsistencies: roomโ€‘level cleanliness and maintenance, variable staffing levels, coordination gaps between departments, and some administrative or security process weaknesses. For families considering placement, an inโ€‘person tour focused on current staffing levels, room condition, sanitation practices, fallโ€‘prevention measures, and how the facility handles administrative communication would help assess whether the dayโ€‘toโ€‘day operations match the clinical strengths described by many reviewers.

    About Park Manor of McKinney

Park Manor of McKinney is a personal care facility with 138 certified beds and usually has about 79 residents each day, and while it has well-appointed private and semi-private rooms, landscaped grounds, a therapy gym, and a dedicated EVS team that keeps the place clean and safe, there have been some important points to know, like the fact that recent inspections found twenty total deficiencies, including one about infection control, and the facility received a $29,426 fine for problems, some of which posed immediate jeopardy to residents' health or safety, such as not following infection prevention standards, not providing respiratory care when needed, and not handling x-rays and test results properly. The staff nurse turnover rate is high at 67.6%, which is above the Texas average, and staff hours per resident per day are slightly below average, but there are 24-hour skilled nursing services, in-house therapy for physical, occupational, and speech needs, and specialized services like wound care, pulmonology, and cognitive programs to help shape individual care plans, and there's also a monthly activities calendar, meal assistance, housekeeping, laundry, and respite care options, so while the facility has modern equipment and is set up to help people with different needs, families may want to look at inspection reports and consider the history of deficiencies and staff turnover when deciding on care. The administration includes Genevy Rodriguez, Soon Burnam, Yellowstar Healthcare LLC, and Hamilton County Hospital District. Park Manor of McKinney is connected to HMG Healthcare and focuses on skilled nursing and rehabilitation in a setting with spacious rooms, nutritious menus, and both short-term and long-term care options.
