    Spotless compassionate personalized memory-care community

I moved my mom here and have been consistently impressed - the place is spotless and homey, rooms can be personalized, and the grounds (courtyard, atrium, auditorium) are lovely. Staff are compassionate, knowledgeable and reliable; care is customized and consistent, meds are handled promptly, and the activity calendar (physical, social, intellectual, spiritual and sensory options, pets and outings) keeps residents engaged. I feel she's safe, well cared-for and happier, and I gladly recommend this warm, professional memory-care community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The Springs Memory Care presents as a well-kept, secure memory-care community with a strong emphasis on personalized, home-like living spaces and a robust program of social and therapeutic activities. Reviewers consistently highlight cleanliness, landscaped indoor and outdoor areas (atrium, indoor garden, courtyard), and thoughtfully designed dining and common areas. The community's memory-care focus and escorted-access layout are seen as strengths for safety and resident orientation.

Care and staff: Families and visitors most often describe staff as compassionate, knowledgeable, and highly engaged with residents. Many note reliable medication management and individualized attention that contributes to residents' sense of safety and wellbeing. There is also praise for nurses and specific caregivers who provide exceptional, consistent care. However, a recurring operational pattern is inconsistent staffing levels and periodic staff turnover, especially around admissions. These staffing fluctuations have been linked to training-in-progress situations, delays in response times, and occasional gaps in transfer-assistance staffing that may affect safe handling of residents who require two-person transfers.

Dining: Dining is frequently cited as a positive. The facility offers attractive dining spaces, options for communal or solo dining, and generally well-liked, healthy meal plans. Reviewers mention pleasant dining areas that are well-lit and clean, and several commented that food quality and portioning supported improved weight and appetite for some residents. The facility also provides assistance navigating payment options and insurance, and some families noted all-inclusive pricing structures.

Activities and social life: Activity programming is a clear emphasis — the calendar typically includes physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and sensory stimulation with offerings such as music, sing‑alongs, bingo, crafts, entertainment, pet therapy, outings, and seasonal events. This contributes to strong staff–resident interaction and a visible sense of belonging. That said, activity variety has been reported to scale back during infection-control periods, and a minority of family members described a less varied or less consistently staffed activity program at times.

Facilities and resident experience: The physical plant receives consistent praise for its cleanliness, bright open spaces, wide hallways, and outdoor amenities where wildlife and landscaped courtyards are appreciated. Rooms are described as comfortable and can be personalized to feel home-like. A notable facility-level limitation is the predominance of semi-private rooms, which raises concerns about privacy and noise for some residents. Secure entry/exit procedures and escorted access enhance security but are also described by some as restrictive to family movement and visiting flexibility.

Management and notable patterns: Many families recommend the community and cite peace of mind from the staff and environment. Conversely, operational issues include communication gaps during admissions and care transitions, occasional unannounced staff changes during admission, and the perception of higher costs relative to alternatives. Together, these patterns suggest a strong clinical and social program supported by thoughtful facilities, but one that would benefit from more consistent staffing, clearer communication during transitions, and expanded private-room options to better meet diverse resident needs.

    About The Springs Memory Care

The Springs Memory Care sits about 5.3 miles outside San Angelo, Texas at 6102 Grand Ct Rd, and it stands out as the area's only stand-alone memory care community, serving seniors with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, offering its Meaningful Moments program, supervised outings, and daily activities that aim to keep folks as independent as they can be, while a secure, landscaped courtyard gives people a safe spot to walk and enjoy the outdoors-there are even walking paths and parks close by for when they go out in small groups, and with licensed capacity for up to 66 residents, all in private or companion suites, you'll see folks sharing space or enjoying some time to themselves in apartments that range from 276 square feet for a private suite to 377 square feet for companion rooms.

The caregivers stay on site 24-hours a day, 7 days a week-highly trained folks who help with daily needs like bathing, dressing, and medication reminders, so if you need help they'll always be around-and there's a nurse on site for about 12 to 16 hours a day, with extra help for anyone needing medication supervision, all checked and kept current with regular license reviews from the State of Texas (License No. 150130, Facility ID 105285) that keep it up to date with rules and safety standards.

People eat three home-style meals a day, plus snacks, and they do themed dinners sometimes, so meals don't get boring, and inside you'll find round tables in the dining room, a cozy living room with a fireplace and bookshelves, a game room, a fitness room, and a library for folks who like to sit a spell and read or just watch what's going on-there's a barbershop and salon too, so residents don't have to go far for a haircut.

The community stays pet-free, so you won't have to worry about animals if that's a concern, but they do offer pet therapy from time to time, and you'll see staff assisting with transportation, laundry, linen service, and keeping rooms tidy with housekeeping, and with a 24-hour emergency call system, both in units and around the building, help stays close at hand; all the doors and hallways have electronic security so folks who might get confused or wander don't find themselves lost or in any trouble.

The Springs Memory Care keeps up a steady schedule, full of simple pleasures: organized social, educational, and music programs; devotional services and church gatherings; fitness routines; movie nights; and the kind of activities that help keep the mind busy, which is especially important for people dealing with mild cognitive changes. Regular outings and community transportation help folks get to appointments or run errands, and there's always something small happening in the resident lounge or around the gazebo at the courtyard's entrance, where you'll see friends talking and staff close by to lend a hand or sit for a while. The staff works to build personalized care plans so every resident gets what they need, focusing on health, safety, and comfort in a home-like space where the general feeling is welcoming and familiar, and where independence is encouraged as much as possible.

The Springs offers all-inclusive pricing and sits close to essentials like the H-E-B Pharmacy, Shannon Surgery Center, and other medical offices, so folks get what they need without too much trouble. The building's design cuts down on confusion for memory care residents, with simple loving details and a clear layout, making things easier for people who may struggle from time to time. This community is part of the 12 Oaks Senior Living network and keeps an average rating around 8.5 out of 10, with staff known for being helpful and kind, aiming to make every day easier for everyone who lives there, whether they're needing long-term memory care, help with assisted living, or just a short stay for respite care while family is away.
