    Excellent rehab, caring friendly staff

I received excellent rehab and very caring, professional staff - therapists and nurses helped me regain mobility and the aides were attentive. The facility is clean, safe and family-like, with friendly staff, decent meals and enjoyable activities. I made friends, felt well cared for, and would happily return.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Lakeshore Village Nursing and Rehab present a strongly polarized picture: a recurrent theme is excellent rehabilitative care alongside multiple operational and quality-control concerns. Many families and residents praise the facility's physical and occupational therapy programs, noting motivational therapists, measurable mobility improvements, and staff who encourage progress. Several accounts describe compassionate CNAs and nurses, helpful social work and reception staff, active recreational offerings (bingo, music, live singing), and a generally supportive, family-like culture among long-tenured employees.

At the same time, a number of reviewers described consistent problems with basic nursing responsiveness and clinical oversight. Examples include delayed responses to call signals, inconsistent bathing and toileting assistance, and concerns about medication handling and documentation. These issues manifest as broader trait-level weaknesses: inconsistent staffing and gaps in medication-administration controls that may affect continuity of care. There are also specific safety concerns for residents with cognitive impairment — including insufficient supervision and wandering risk — that point to uneven implementation of dementia-care protocols.

Dining and daily living services receive mixed feedback. Multiple reviewers described inconsistent food quality, cold or improperly prepared meals, and instances where meal delivery procedures created problems. Conversely, some residents appreciate the dining-room atmosphere and activity-centered meal periods. Laundry and housekeeping processes appear variable: while some common areas are described as clean and fresh, other accounts cite delayed laundry, sanitation issues in resident rooms and closets, odor concerns in hallways, and pest-control or maintenance deficiencies.

Financial, administrative, and communication practices were frequent sources of dissatisfaction. Complaints include unclear billing, perceived overcharging, questions about account handling, and at least one serious allegation involving misdirected benefits and unauthorized account access. These reports, together with statements about unreturned calls from families and outside providers, limited transparency about management/ownership, and inflexible visitation or accommodation policies, indicate weaknesses in management accountability and resident-relations processes.

In short, Lakeshore Village appears to deliver notable strengths in therapy and in the compassionate practice of many front-line caregivers, but also shows recurring operational gaps in clinical oversight, sanitation and laundry, meal service consistency, financial controls, and communications. Prospective residents and families considering this facility should evaluate those trade-offs directly: ask for current staffing patterns, medication-administration and billing procedures, infection-control policies, dementia-care supervision protocols, and recent inspection or pest-control records to get a clearer picture of how the facility is managing the issues highlighted in these reviews.

About Lakeshore Village Nursing and Rehab

Lakeshore Village Nursing and Rehab, located in Waco, TX, is a single-story skilled nursing facility that offers both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care options. The staff provides 24-hour licensed nursing services, along with physical, occupational, and speech therapy, which can be helpful for people recovering from surgery or dealing with other medical needs. The facility manages a variety of health conditions, including diabetes, cardiac conditions, digestive disorders, and pain, and has services in place for medication management, postoperative care, and hospice support. Residents can receive personal assistance with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and eating.

Recreational activities such as arts and crafts, bingo, and other events encourage socializing and entertainment, and the iN2L tablets let residents learn and share with others. There's a beauty salon and barber shop on site, and rooms are available in both private and semi-private options to suit different needs. Dining is customized and tailored to each person's preferences, with a focus on nutrition, although the facility has had some deficiencies in meeting certain dietary rules and menu standards in past inspections.

The staff aims to create a warm, welcoming space where residents can feel comfortable, dignified, and independent, with support from a dedicated group who understand their needs. The facility has measures in place for COVID-19 safety, and offers a continuum of care so residents can move between short and long stays as needed. Affiliated with Eduro Healthcare and operated by Senior Living Properties, Lakeshore Village can house up to 151 residents, with around 121 residents staying on average each day.

Inspections have found 48 deficiencies over time, including issues with resident rights and food safety, and the nurse turnover rate is higher than the state average, but the facility is still committed to providing comprehensive medical care with personalized treatment and rehabilitation services. The building has an environment many find peaceful and helpful for healing, with views meant to encourage recovery. Living here means having access to services like pain care, medication help, social work, respite care, and hospice when needed, all from a team that tries to treat each resident with compassion.
