    Kind attentive staff, clean facility

I'm very pleased with Sunridge of Roy. My mom settled in quickly - staff are kind, patient and attentive, know residents' names, and the memory-care team was supportive during the move. The facility is clean and beautiful with accessible rooms and safety features, the activities calendar is full of varied events and outings, meals are plentiful, and family events feel like a second family; I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Sunridge Assisted Living of Roy is frequently described as a new, hotel-like community with high-end finishes, roomy apartment options, and extensive indoor and outdoor amenities. Families and residents commonly highlight the facility’s resort-style presentation — linen service in the dining room, private dining spaces, on-site salon, landscaped grounds with recreational features, and a bright, well-kept interior. The physical plant and common areas are a consistent strength in many accounts, contributing to an overall impression of a clean, welcoming environment.

Care and staff performance are the most discussed operational dimensions. A substantial portion of feedback praises caregivers, CNAs, nurses, and activity staff for being compassionate, attentive, and relationship-oriented: many reviewers report that staff know residents by name, provide individualized attention, and create a warm, family-like atmosphere. The memory-care neighborhood and several named staff members receive particular commendation for supportive transitions and ongoing communication. At the same time, reviewers also describe variability in staff performance and consistency across shifts; while some aides are characterized as exceptional, others are associated with responsiveness gaps. That variability appears to underlie the mixed perceptions of care quality.

Dining and activities are notable strengths but show variability. The community offers three meals per day, restaurant-style service, daily activities, trips, and well-attended family events; many families appreciate the variety of programming (bingo, exercise classes, holiday events, neighborhood outings) and the staff who organize them. Several reviewers praised the kitchen team and servers, but a number of comments express frustration with inconsistent food quality and disruptions tied to kitchen staffing changes. Prospective families should expect generally robust programming paired with periodic turnover- or transition-related interruptions to meal quality.

Several operational concerns recur across the feedback and merit careful review by prospective families. There are isolated but serious claims touching on medication administration, delays in attending to residents, fall-related supervision gaps, and sanitation in specific care areas; abstracted to facility-level traits, these indicate potential vulnerabilities in clinical oversight, staffing consistency, and sanitation protocols. Additionally, some families report unclear or aggressive ancillary-fee practices (e.g., add‑on charges, move-out fees) and examples of inconsistent admissions or acuity acceptance. Management responsiveness is described positively by some (timely resolution by specific administrators) and criticized by others (communication and operational follow-through), suggesting leadership performance may vary over time or by department.

Overall, many families describe Sunridge of Roy as a warm, attractive, and activity-rich community with strong relational caregiving and well-maintained facilities. However, the pattern of comments also includes operational weaknesses that could affect safety and satisfaction for residents with higher clinical needs. Recommended next steps for prospective residents: tour the memory-care and assisted-living neighborhoods in person; ask for details about staffing ratios, medication administration policies, fall-prevention procedures, sanitation protocols, and recent staffing turnover; request a current menu cycle and sample activity calendar; and obtain a clear, written description of all ancillary fees and move-out policies before committing. These targeted inquiries can help confirm whether the community’s operational practices match the positive environment described by many families.

About Sunridge Assisted Living of Roy

Sunridge Assisted Living of Roy sits over on 3673 West 5600 South in Roy, Utah, offering a mix of assisted living, memory care, nursing, independent living, and continuing care options all under one roof, and after being around for over 25 years with owners on-site every day, people say it keeps up a high standard for attentive care where families can feel involved and welcomed anytime, and the staff, who call themselves Super Caregivers, are known for looking out for residents in ways that bring smiles and a sense of ease even on harder days. The community has apartments of all sizes-there are studios, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms, and for memory care there are both private and shared apartments, and every unit's got its own heat and air with a little kitchenette, a microwave, a fridge, granite countertops, and walk-in closets, which makes it feel more like home for the folks who stay there, and ceilings are high, around ten feet, so the space doesn't feel closed in. There's a big courtyard for the memory care wing that's safely secured, which means people can enjoy the fresh air without worry, and the building stays clean and pretty year round, with common rooms like a game room, a library, a private dining area, a fitness room, a bistro, a salon, and even a big multipurpose space where they'll hold different activities so nobody gets bored, plus Wi-Fi is in the whole place so staying connected is easier. The staff help residents with what they need throughout the day, things like meals, getting dressed, bathing, medications, and going from room to room, and if anybody needs special help for memory care-like Alzheimer's or dementia-they have trained caregivers who try to keep folks safe, secure, and comfortable with routines that make sense to them and features like in-room emergency call systems and services to help with incontinence. For those who still like their independence but want a bit of support, Sunridge has options for that too, and cheerful group activities and home-cooked meals made by chefs are all part of the day-to-day so people don't have to give up the little things they enjoy. People who visit the community mention friendly staff and good food in their reviews, and the resident-to-staff ratio stays low so most everyone's got time to chat or lend a hand, and the place has picked up a few local awards for quality and all the thoughtful care put in over the years, which matches up with their goal to make Sunridge feel welcoming and comfortable for everybody.
