    Moved in happy excellent amenities

I moved in recently and I'm very happy here. The staff are attentive and kind, the building is beautiful and clean, and there are nonstop activities, great dining, fitness, theater and salon amenities - plus convenient, walkable access to shops and restaurants with transportation available. It's on the pricey side, but the safe, home-like, family atmosphere and excellent care make it worth it for me.

    Summary of reviews

Legacy Village of Sugar House is repeatedly described as a visually attractive, newly built community with many resort‑style amenities. Reviewers consistently praise the facility’s hotel‑like finishes, expansive common spaces (multiple seating areas with fireplaces, theater, library), good indoor parking, and strong views. The location is a frequent positive: a walkable Sugar House neighborhood with nearby restaurants, shops, parks, and university health services. Apartment options and community design are noted as modern and bright, with a range of studios through one‑bedroom layouts and some larger units and corner patios.

Care and staff commentary is largely favorable. Many families and residents emphasize attentive, personable staff who remember names and provide individualized support; specific staff members and coordinators are singled out for exceptional help with transitions, insurance navigation, and rehabilitation placement. Nursing and therapy resources on campus, including visiting doctors and an in‑house clinic, are an important asset for families seeking integrated care plus available transportation to appointments. However, reviews also document operational patterns that erode consistency: intermittent understaffing, instances of staff turnover, and lapses in medication delivery or timeliness. These patterns suggest variability in service reliability rather than a uniform standard.

Dining and activity programming are strong points for the community overall. The facility offers a broad activities calendar (exercise classes, live music, wine‑and‑cheese socials, theater showings, outings), multiple dining venues, and frequent social events that support an active lifestyle. Opinions on meal quality are mixed: many enjoy the menu variety and presentation, while a significant number cite inconsistent preparation, occasional salty or packaged meals, and extra charges for certain beverages or snacks. Prospective residents should assess personal dining expectations and inquire about fee inclusions for food and beverages.

Facilities and accessibility reflect modern senior‑living design with abundant amenities: two fitness areas, beauty/barber shop, theater with streaming capabilities, well‑maintained common spaces, and pet accommodations. At the same time, the community’s vertical, high‑rise layout and large scale may feel institutional or less homelike for some residents, and several reviewers noted apartment layout or size limitations (bathroom or doorway accessibility issues for some wheelchair users, limited two‑bedroom availability). There are also occasional maintenance notes—HVAC concerns and isolated pest‑control issues—that merit inspection during tours.

Management and administrative patterns show both strengths and concerns. The team’s move‑in support, activity programming, and some staff leaders receive strong commendation. Conversely, reviewers describe admissions pressures (large deposits, waitlists, sales‑communication problems), uneven front‑desk preparedness, and at least one allegation involving discriminatory conduct; those items point to areas where families should ask direct questions and seek written policies. Cost/value perceptions vary: many consider the flat monthly rate and campus amenities good value, while others find the community expensive, especially when factoring in additional fees.

In sum, Legacy Village of Sugar House presents as a high‑amenity, well‑appointed community with strong social programming and many staff members who provide compassionate, personalized support. Prospective residents should weigh the community’s upscale amenities and central location against operational variability—particularly staffing consistency, dining expectations, memory‑care expertise, and total cost including potential ancillary fees. A focused tour, conversations with current residents, and direct questions about staffing ratios, medication protocols, memory‑care staffing and training, accessibility accommodations, pest‑control practices, and fee transparency will help families determine fit.

About Legacy Village of Sugar House

Legacy Village of Sugar House stands in a historic and desirable neighborhood in Salt Lake City, Utah, where you'll see views of city lights and the Wasatch Mountains, and it sits close to Intermountain Medical Center, the University of Utah, shopping, restaurants, and doctors' offices, so getting around is easy, especially with quick access to I-80 and ample parking. The facility is a high-rise building with several types of rooms, like studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, and you can choose from furnished keepsake, semi-private, or private units, some of which allow pets. Apartments have private bathrooms, kitchenettes, individual heating and cooling controls, grab bars, safety features, cable, internet wiring, and a 24-hour emergency call system. Some apartments are fully accessible, and many face furnished patios or outdoor gardens with mountain views.

The community provides several levels of care, including independent living for those who want a maintenance-free lifestyle, assisted living with help for daily needs like bathing, medication, or dressing, and memory care for people living with Alzheimer's or other memory concerns, all the way to skilled nursing and continuing care if health needs change over time. The staff are licensed by the state, with certified nursing staff and a full-time Registered Nurse on duty 24 hours a day for emergencies or regular help, so someone's always close by if help is needed.

Legacy Village has a dining room with restaurant-style meals made fresh three times a day, plus snacks, and room service is possible; special diets like low-sodium, vegetarian, kosher, renal-friendly, and diabetes-friendly meals are available, and there's grocery shopping support for those who need it. There's a fitness and therapy center, an exercise program, help with walking and wheelchair use, and even Hoyer lift transfers. Residents can take part in scheduled activities meant to keep people active and involved, like games, exercise, social events, spiritual gatherings, theater nights, and outings to local shops, banks, and doctors.

Other amenities include a library, computer area with free high-speed WiFi, activity and game rooms, a theater, on-site hair salon and barber, laundry rooms, and several beautifully decorated common rooms for socializing. There are several outdoor common areas, including gardens, courtyards, and patios for dining or relaxing, so residents can enjoy the fresh air and views. There's a state-of-the-art emergency response and security system, and the grounds are landscaped and maintained. Housekeeping, linen changes, laundry service, and maintenance are all part of the offerings, so daily chores are taken care of.

Personalized support is available for those who need help with mobility, grooming, dressing, showering, continence care, medication management, and other daily tasks; medication is administered and monitored, and respite care is offered. Residents can bring their own furnishings to make their space feel more like home, especially in memory care, where familiar items can help reduce confusion. The memory care area is designed to be safe and secure to help prevent wandering, and has focused programs to encourage social, emotional, and mental engagement. Legacy Village helps maintain independence and dignity by providing just the right amount of support based on need, in a setting where people can stay active, connected, and comfortable.
