    About Second Spring North

Second Spring North sits on 10 secluded acres in Westford, Vermont, and provides assisted living care with a Level 3 Residential Care Home license, holding up to eight residents in a quiet, multi-level home. The facility uses a management system for regular care assessments and supports residents with 24-hour supervision, help with bathing, dressing, transfers, and managing medications. Staff and residents work together in menu planning and meal preparation, so everyone's diet needs and preferences get attention, including special diets and allergies, with hot breakfasts several times a week and snacks always on hand. Residents can take part in church services, group outings, offsite jobs, or short trips, with daily community activities, visits to schools, correctional facilities, and meeting therapy dogs that sometimes help teach young people about compassion and recovery. Each bedroom comes furnished with basics like a bed, dresser, chair, and nightstand, and all common areas-like the garden, walking paths, piano room, movie area, and community spaces-are open for use, cable TV, Wi-Fi, computers, books, and stereo equipment included at no extra cost, with laundry and housekeeping, fresh linens, and all utilities part of the fee. The staff includes creative arts therapists, a music therapist, registered nurses, a clinical manager, and cooks who keep things running smoothly every day and support residents in both daily routines and recovery. The facility has a resident care department that manages health records, medication, and daily reports. Everyone helps out in tasks like cooking or cleaning when they can, sometimes earning extra through Vermont Psychiatric Survivors. Second Spring North has standards for emergency preparedness, safe water, and food equipment, following health rules for COVID-19, keeping safety and support at the center, and making sure visitors' privacy is respected with scheduled visiting hours. Since 2014, inspectors visited seven times, finding 10 issues along the way and handling about 15 complaints between 2014 and 2019, so it gets checked every couple of years or after any incident. Residents also help decide on daily activities, can talk about their recovery stories at graduation coin ceremonies, and take part in a program meant to help them regain independence and move back into the community when they're ready, all while having room for growth, privacy, and meaningful engagement with others.
