    Compassionate care in beautiful facility

My mom was lovingly cared for by compassionate, attentive staff in a clean, peaceful facility with beautiful grounds and a lovely courtyard. The food is excellent with great variety and residents seem happy - it's a wonderful addition to the community and I only wish more people knew about it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with particular emphasis on the quality of direct caregiving and the cleanliness of the facility. Multiple reviewers describe staff as caring, compassionate, and wonderful, and at least one specifically notes that a family member (a mother) was well cared for. These repeated mentions indicate that clinical and day-to-day personal care are consistent strengths and form the core of residents’ and families’ satisfaction.

Facility and setting receive repeated praise as well. Reviewers describe the environment as clean and peaceful, citing both an overall clean setting and a pleasant courtyard. The courtyard and peaceful setting are noted as assets that contribute to residents’ well-being and the facility’s calming atmosphere. Several reviewers also frame the home as a welcome addition to the local community, which suggests good neighborhood integration and a positive public impression among those familiar with it.

Dining is another clear positive theme: reviewers mention ‘‘excellent food’’ and a ‘‘large variety,’’ implying that meal quality and menu options are above average and appreciated by residents. Coupled with comments about happy residents and a positive atmosphere, the dining program appears to support resident satisfaction and social life within the home.

The primary recurring concerns relate to communication and outreach rather than care quality. Multiple summaries indicate difficulty reaching reception or an unresponsive phone line, and mention missing or unclear contact numbers. There is also a expressed desire for greater awareness of the facility in the broader community. Together, these points suggest operational gaps in front-desk responsiveness and external communications or marketing, which could create obstacles for prospective residents and families trying to obtain information or arrange visits.

In sum, the dominant narrative is that Our Lady Of Providence offers compassionate, reliable caregiving in a clean, peaceful environment with good dining and satisfied residents. The most actionable area for improvement highlighted by reviewers is administrative communication: ensuring phone lines and reception are consistently reachable, making contact information clear and accessible, and possibly increasing outreach so the community at large becomes more aware of the facility’s presence and services. Addressing these issues would align the facility’s public-facing operations with the high marks it receives for care, facilities, and food.

    About Our Lady of Providence

Our Lady Of Providence is an assisted living community in Winooski, Vermont, with room for 48 residents, and it's a nonprofit with a special spiritual focus since it's Christian-based and offers things like daily mass, a rosary group, and spiritual guidance for anyone who wants it, plus there's a strong respect for different spiritual needs so people can join in faith-based activities if they'd like. You'll find care here for daily living-staff help with things like bathing, dressing, transfers, and medication, and if residents need coordination with healthcare providers, that's handled too, all under 24-hour supervision and a call system set up in each room for safety. There are private rooms-46 of them-with private bathrooms, wheelchair-friendly setups, and some rooms have kitchenettes; there are also semi-private options and one-bedroom assisted living units if that's preferred, and rooms come fully furnished including a telephone and free Wi-Fi. Meals get prepared according to different needs, including special diets for diabetes or allergies, and meal service happens in a dining room with friends, plus there are scheduled activities during the day, resident-run events, movie nights, arts and crafts, and a garden with walking paths outside if you want some air. Housekeeping and linen services come with the stay, and there's help available with laundry, move-in arrangements, and dry cleaning. Amenities include a beauty salon, a barber, cable and satellite TV, and common spaces for visitors or to just sit and talk; there's a strong sense of community since people can join in on group events, entertainment, and spiritual reflections throughout the week. The staff provide transportation for medical appointments so families don't have to worry about how people will get where they need to go, and the community emergency alert system works to keep everyone safe in case of an emergency. There's respite care for when families need short-term stays if someone's caregiver needs a break or is away for a little while. Some unique aspects include the focus on both spiritual and mental wellness programs, support for people in wheelchairs or who can't walk, and support for broader causes like ending homelessness, animal welfare, climate change, veterans and military assistance, and LGBTQIA+ community support through donations, since they're connected to different funds and support systems in the larger community. Our Lady Of Providence is a licensed level III community, which means they cover daily living and full medical support, even hospice care if that's eventually needed. People looking for information on charity, giving, and taxes can find guidance here too, with resources for avoiding scams, as well as general help for finding top-performing charities. Donations help support residents and programs, and tours are available to see what life is like in this homelike setting that tries to meet people's spiritual, social, and daily care needs without a lot of fuss.
