    Attentive knowledgeable caring memory care

I placed my mom in this small (about 20 residents) memory-care community and I'm very pleased. The staff are attentive, knowledgeable and treat residents like family - nurses know the residents, the activities director keeps a full daily schedule, meals are nice and transportation to appointments is included. The home is clean, comfortable and affordable, and I would recommend it for memory care.

    Summary of reviews

Lavender Hills Front Royal Campus is frequently described as a small, memory-care–focused community with a home-like atmosphere and consistently clean common areas. Reviewers emphasize the facility’s affordability and the inclusion of many services in the monthly fee. The campus size and staffing model produce a personalized level of care for many residents; families often cite one-on-one attention, supportive nursing, and proactive medical oversight as strengths.

Staff performance is a clear positive theme. Multiple families highlighted compassionate, respectful caregiving staff, an attentive dietary manager, and an engaged activities director. Nursing staff are described as knowledgeable about residents’ needs, and families report regular care-plan updates and coordinated transportation for appointments. The activity program is active and structured (noted daytime schedule that covers much of the day), with arts-and-crafts and other opportunities that contribute to observed mood and weight-stability improvements in some residents.

Dining and daily life are also strong points. Reviewers praised the quality and accommodation of meals, including attention to presentation, and many residents appeared to enjoy the food. The facility is characterized as clean and comfortable, with aspects such as linen tablecloths noted as contributing to a dignified dining experience. Renovations and building updates are in progress, and an outdoor area is planned for improvement.

Facility layout and social dynamics are mixed. The community’s small size is an advantage for individualized attention but can limit peer socialization for residents who need more diverse interactions. Several units use companion-suite layouts with divider walls and shared bathrooms and sitting areas; this arrangement reduces cost but provides less private bathing and toilet access than a private apartment. Interior finishes are described as partly dated in areas not yet renovated.

Operational and management patterns merit careful inquiry from prospective families. While many reviewers praised staff, a number also raised concerns about inconsistent communication and follow-through from management (for example, unanswered calls or delayed updates). There were instances that raised questions about how staff-sick policies and infection-control decisions are handled; these suggest the need to ask administrators about formal sick-staff procedures and contingency staffing. A few comments also reflected dissatisfaction with specific managerial decisions, indicating occasional gaps in perceived responsiveness or decision-making transparency.

Overall, Lavender Hills Front Royal Campus is regarded as a caring, clean, and affordable memory-care community with strong activity and dining programs and a staff culture oriented toward individualized attention. Prospective residents and families should weigh the benefits of the small, personal setting against the shared-suite floorplans and should directly review current management communication practices, infection-control policies, and the status/timeline of ongoing renovations to ensure the community matches their privacy and operational expectations.

About Lavender Hills Front Royal Campus

Lavender Hills Front Royal Campus is a small senior living community with room for about 20 residents, and it offers assisted living, independent living, memory care, and respite care, so people can stay as their needs change over time, which means families don't have to worry about moving their loved one if their health changes, and since the community is small, the staff gets to know everyone and can give more personal attention, which makes it feel a bit more friendly and relaxed than bigger places can be, and the staff includes trained caregivers and clinical support who are in the building around the clock, with no hidden fees or deposits to worry about. The memory care program, called the Lavender Hills Dementia Program, is set up for people with Alzheimer's and dementia, with its own dedicated unit and a building design that helps prevent wandering and confusion, plus there are activities and special options like Snack Programs, Creativity Boxes, and Through Life Stations that are tailored for residents with memory needs. Residents get meals made with fresh ingredients, served in a cafe-style dining room, and the chefs can handle dietary restrictions or preferences, so everyone's needs are met, and since everything is all-inclusive, housekeeping, laundry, WiFi, TV, linens, utilities, and maintenance are covered in the set rate. Apartments are studios, furnished, and come with private rooms and emergency call systems, and the building has controlled entry for safety, with wheelchair accessible showers in the bathrooms, so it's easier for everyone to move around. There's a beautician on site, an onsite salon, common areas both indoors and outdoors, courtyards, gardens, and organized outings and day trips into Front Royal for meals or shopping, which gives people a way to stay connected to the community without having to arrange their own rides because transportation gets included. Residents can join activities like fitness sessions, games, craft classes, educational events, and devotional services both onsite and offsite, so they've always got ways to keep busy and socialize, and the staff helps with things like dressing, bathing, and managing medications as needed. The community allows seniors to age in place and offers hospice care and short-term respite stays for people who need extra support, plus therapy services and on-site visits from doctors, which makes things easier for families. Lavender Hills focuses on providing a calm, safe, and comfortable setting for people at all stages of aging, while its smaller size and specialized programs mean residents get a good balance of privacy, care, and chances to enjoy life.
