    Compassionate waterfront care and amenities

I moved my mom to Crista Shores and I'm very pleased. The staff are compassionate, friendly, and genuinely helpful; the community is clean, well-kept, and beautifully sited on the waterfront with great views. Meals are excellent, activities are plentiful, and the downtown location makes outings and church services easy. My mom is happy and comfortable - great value and I'd highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Crista Shores is consistently described as a well-located, waterfront independent-living community with strong aesthetic and social strengths. Reviewers commonly noted attractive views, well-maintained grounds and gardens, and a compact downtown location with easy access to shopping, trails, and local amenities. The physical layout is frequently characterized as mobility-friendly (wide hallways, accessible grounds), with a range of apartment types—many reviewers praised larger, well-equipped units while a minority cited smaller room sizes.

Staff and daily care impressions are a central theme. Many families described staff as friendly, compassionate, and helpful; examples include informative tour guides, assistance with outings, and reliable medication service. At the same time, there are consistent concerns about the level of support for residents with progressing cognitive or physical needs. Several accounts suggest the community primarily functions as independent living and that families experienced limited encouragement or structured support for increased mobility or memory-care needs.

Dining and activities are notable strengths. Multiple reviewers used highly positive language about the food, fresh vegetables, and dining experience; organized meals, five-star descriptions, and meal delivery during COVID were cited. The activity program appears robust, with frequent trips, outings, sewing groups, games, puzzles, movies, and on-site church services—many residents find the social calendar engaging. A facility-level limitation is the scope of meal coverage for certain residents: independent living packages may provide only a primary evening meal, requiring residents to arrange or purchase breakfast and lunch independently.

Facility operations and management present mixed signals. Positive notes include cleanliness, well-decorated hallways, and resident governance involvement; some tours are resident-led, and security/safety were mentioned positively. Conversely, several families described inconsistent administrative responsiveness: difficulty obtaining monthly expense breakdowns, unclear or varying charges, and at least one undisclosed move-in fee. These point to gaps in pricing transparency and financial communication that prospective residents should clarify in writing.

The community’s Christian affiliation is prominent in multiple comments: on-site church services and a faith-based culture are clear draws for many residents. The facility also appears to have a hiring policy tied to faith requirements. This policy is a facility-level characteristic that some families view as a cultural fit, while others raised concerns about staffing diversity and potential ethical or legal implications.

In summary, Crista Shores presents a strong option for independent-living seekers who prioritize location, views, social programming, and a faith-based community. Prospective residents and families should confirm operational details that reviewers flagged as variable—especially assistance levels for cognitive or mobility decline, exact meal-service coverage, pricing structure and fees, and the facility’s hiring policies—to ensure the community’s services match individual care and lifestyle needs.

    About Crista Shores

Crista Shores sits right along the water in Silverdale, looking out at Dyes Inlet, and the apartments have nice waterfront views, so you can see the beach, watch birds, look for bald eagles, or spot sealife from the patio or even from inside. Folks who live here can choose from different floor plans, including apartments with full kitchens or kitchenettes, and each unit comes with its own heating and air conditioning controls, plus cable is already set up. The building uses sprinklers for fire safety and there's 24-hour security as well as a call system you can use anytime for emergencies. There's a nursing staff around at all hours, and the community has both assisted living and independent living options, with care for people who have Alzheimer's or need memory care along with respite stays, so if someone just needs help for a little while, that's an option, too. Nursing staff are there 12 to 16 hours every day, with extra supervision at all times, and the staff help with things like dressing, bathing, getting around if someone can't walk on their own, or managing medication.

The dining room is on the elegant side, and meals are cooked by staff and served three times a day, sometimes with a view of the water while you eat. For getting exercise or just spending time outdoors, there's a nice five-mile trail called the Clear Creek Trail for strolling or taking a walk, and there's also a fitness room, a greenhouse for anyone who likes to garden, an art studio, a game room, a library, and a wood shop if anyone wants to work on projects. Spiritual activities are organized regularly, and there are planned outings, bus trips, music sessions, and other social and leisure events, along with wellness programs and even resident-run activities so people can stay as busy or as quiet as they want. People can also sit with family or friends at the beachside patio and enjoy looking out over the water. Crista Shores is run by CRISTA Ministries as part of their CRISTA Senior Living group, and the place is set up to offer a mix of care types and amenities for seniors who want to live by the water, enjoy community activities, and have help available if they need it.
