I moved my mother here from out of state and she adjusted quickly - the staff genuinely care and made her feel at home. Care is amazing and the small, selective community means a positive, attentive team that reassured me during long-distance visits. I'd love a bit more outdoor time and more chances for family hugs during visits, but overall I'm very pleased.

About Valentine Personal Care Inc
Valentine Personal Care Inc, also called Valentine Personal Care Home or Valentine Assisted Living, sits on 521 Davis Ave in Elkins, West Virginia, and is a small senior care community with room for up to six residents, and this place really covers a lot of ground for older adults because they offer assisted living services, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, skilled nursing and rehabilitation, independent living options, hospice and respite care, so you'll find that they kind of cover every base for people who need a little help and those who need full medical care. The owner, Denise Campbell, has more than 30 years in healthcare and four nursing degrees, so that leadership and experience run deep in how things work here.
Residents can get help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, hygiene, medication management, and transfers-including those who need two-person transfers-plus the staff is awake and available 24/7 if someone needs help day or night. Memory care programs bring music therapy, pet therapy, and memory activities, plus the staff prepares detailed care plans for each resident to make sure needs are met as those needs change. There's a strong focus on respect, love, and dignity here, and the aim is to make sure residents feel meaning, happiness, and joy every day, with special attention to personal wellness and independence.
The facility offers homemade meals three times a day, and they're able to adjust menus for special diets like diabetes or allergies if needed, so no one has to worry about what's on their plate if they have dietary needs, and snacks are always around too. Residents can eat in the community dining room with all-day dining options, and there's help available with housekeeping, laundry, and dry cleaning, making daily life easier and more comfortable.
You'll notice plenty of activities scheduled here, from bingo and crafts to board games, movie nights, and outdoor relaxation spaces like gardens and walking paths, plus a book room and specially-planned events, with a focus on keeping everyone moving and engaged. There are programs that invite volunteers and students in for visits, which helps keep things lively and lets residents make new connections. The facility has a hairdresser or salon, a jacuzzi, sauna or health room, and areas for games, with transportation and parking included for convenience, whether it's for doctor visits, errands, or trips to faith-based services.
The cozy living spaces are designed for relaxation and safety, as there's a 24-hour call system and supervision for everyone's well-being, and the setting itself is quiet and welcoming, set in a peaceful part of Elkins. Care options stretch from independent living with resort-style amenities-like no maintenance and plenty of social activities-to full personal care and long-term services, meaning folks who come here can settle in no matter how much or how little support they need, even if healing from surgery or hospital stays.
Valentine Personal Care Inc keeps a resident-first approach, with each person getting detailed care that meets their own requirements, and the staff makes it a point to offer secure and loving care around the clock, aiming for each resident to feel truly at home and supported in daily life.
