    Attentive staff and comfortable facility

I placed my dad here and have been very pleased - the staff are attentive, the facility is clean and well-maintained, meals are good, and there are plenty of activities to keep him engaged. Management communicates promptly and the location is convenient; overall it feels like a caring, comfortable place.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment from these review summaries is predominantly negative, with safety and staff behavior as the most frequently raised concerns. Reviews repeatedly mention multiple falls and specific incidents (including a resident falling out of a chair), which point to recurring safety and supervision problems. Those safety issues are presented as the primary driver of family worry and dissatisfaction.

Care quality is portrayed as inconsistent. While there are reports of helpful individual caregivers โ€” notably a CNA described as helpful and a nurse named Jody who was called out as good and helpful โ€” the broader picture suggests lapses in everyday care and monitoring. The recurring mention of falls and the explicit statement of safety concerns imply that routine checks, mobility assistance, or fall-prevention measures may be insufficient or inconsistently applied.

Staff behavior and workplace climate emerge as another major theme. Multiple summaries note staff arguing, signs of irritation, and a general lack of compassion. This negative interpersonal dynamic is reported both among staff members and in staff interactions with residents, which can undermine residents' wellbeing and family trust. The contrast between a few praised individuals and an otherwise negative attitude suggests uneven staff performance and morale.

Training and competency issues are also highlighted, particularly regarding dementia care. Reviewers explicitly call for better dementia-specific training, indicating that staff may not be adequately prepared to manage residents with cognitive impairment. Given the combination of safety incidents and reported lack of dementia training, residents with memory or behavioral issues are likely at higher risk for adverse events.

There is limited or no information in these summaries about facilities, dining, or activities. The reviews focus primarily on direct care and staff-related problems rather than on amenities or programming. The absence of comment on dining and activities should not be taken as positive endorsement; rather, those areas simply were not addressed in the provided summaries.

Management and oversight are implicated indirectly by the pattern of issues described. Recurrent falls, safety concerns, staff arguing, and uneven training imply potential gaps in supervision, staffing levels, protocols, and ongoing staff education. While specific administrative actions are not reported, the pattern suggests a need for targeted improvements in fall-prevention practices, dementia care training, communication and conflict resolution among staff, and measures to improve staff compassion and professionalism.

In summary, these reviews paint a picture of a facility with some caring individuals but significant systemic problems. The most urgent concerns are resident safety (multiple falls and at least one fall-from-chair incident) and negative staff conduct (arguing, irritation, and lack of compassion). There is also a clear call for improved dementia care training. Families considering this facility should weigh the presence of some positive caregivers against the repeated safety and staff-attitude issues, and prospective residents or their advocates should seek detailed information from management about fall-prevention protocols, staff training programs, staffing levels, and specific steps taken to address the concerns raised in these reviews.

    About Pine View Nursing-Rehab Center

Pine View Nursing-Rehab Center sits in Harrisville, West Virginia, and serves people who need short-term rehab or long-term care. With 56 beds for skilled nursing, the center currently has 8 open. Staff help with daily living, like bathing, dressing, and getting in and out of bed, and make sure medicine is managed properly. Meals come with nutritional planning, and there are special menus for dietary needs. Residents can get physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and the center covers palliative, hospice, and memory care for people with dementia or other cognitive problems. Pine View has a 1-star rating from CMS, but it holds the highest average score in the area at 6.6 out of 10.

Nurses and care staff are on site 12 to 16 hours a day and are always reachable, with a 24-hour call system for emergencies. Care plans are made for each resident, and the center offers case management and help with planning to leave after rehab. Services include pain management, help with moving around, and care for those who aren't able to walk independently. The building is part of Genesis HealthCare, which has many centers in several states.

Rooms come furnished, with both private and semi-private options, and each one has a bathroom, cable TV, air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, phone, and kitchenette. Housekeeping is provided, and there's both a dining room and in-room meals. Community features include an activity room, library, fitness and wellness programs, arts room, game room, walking paths, a movie theater, beauty salon, and a garden. Residents can join in daily events, use transportation for errands or appointments, and take part in programs with volunteers, entertainers, or community groups. There are interpreter services, cultural events, religious services, and a calendar of social activities. Friends and family can visit in shared lounge areas or outside in gardens or on the walking paths.

The center accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and many private insurance plans. People can use Pine View for respite care if they need short-term help or for longer stays after leaving the hospital. The staff help coordinate moves and work to support both recovery and a good daily life. This is a for-profit nursing home and isn't part of a continuing care retirement community, so settings here are focused on skilled nursing and rehabilitation, with strong support for people recovering from illness or injury, or for those who need steady, hands-on care as they age.
