    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews portray Larson House as a small, home-like senior living community with a strong emphasis on person-centered care and family communication. Residents and families frequently describe caring, attentive staff, an engaged director and professional nursing presence, and operational practices that support dementia care. Many families report feeling reassurance and peace of mind from the facility's approach to daily care and outreach.

Care and clinical support: The facility appears to maintain active nursing involvement and structured medication practices; reviewers specifically noted insulin management using pens and the availability of professional oversight. Dementia training for staff and staff commitment to resident comfort are recurring positive themes. At the same time, the community experiences operational challenges with staffing consistency. Inconsistent caregiver continuity was cited as a concern that can affect relationship continuity and the reliability of daily routines.

Staff and management: Leadership is described as energetic and professional, with an administrator and house manager who engage with families and residents. Staff–family communication and check-ins are commonly highlighted as strengths. The overall tone regarding staff conduct is positive — staff are characterized as kind, caring, and responsive — but families noted variability in the specific caregivers they encounter over time, which can affect continuity of care.

Dining and nutrition: The kitchen is generally described as accommodating to resident preferences and capable of adapting meals, and some reviewers complimented meal quality. However, concerns about limited menu variety and a lack of specialty-diet options were raised; a number of families expressed a desire for more consistent meal quality and expanded dietary accommodations for residents with specific nutritional needs.

Activities and social environment: The community offers a structured activities program with opportunities for individualized engagement. Reviewers emphasize that residents enjoy the activities and that programming contributes to a family-like atmosphere. Community involvement and social interaction among residents are noted as positive contributors to quality of life.

Facilities and environment: Physical spaces are frequently described as clean, well-maintained, and homey. Rooms are noted as spacious and the grounds as well cared for. A few sanitation concerns were raised specifically regarding bathroom cleanliness in some areas, suggesting variability in housekeeping standards that management may need to monitor more closely. Another operational limitation noted is the lack of mechanical lifts; the facility relies on stand-assist devices, which may be sufficient for many residents but could limit options for those with higher transfer needs.

Notable patterns and recommendations: Strengths center on compassionate, trained staff, professional leadership, dementia-informed care, and a welcoming, home-like setting that gives many families confidence. Areas for improvement that recur across reviews include staffing consistency, more consistent bathroom sanitation, expanded dietary options, and evaluation of transfer-equipment needs. Prospective residents and families should weigh the strong interpersonal and environmental attributes against these operational limitations, and discuss specific mobility and dietary requirements with facility leadership during a tour or intake conversation.

About Platinum Communities - Larson House

Platinum Communities - Larson House offers assisted living, memory care, and short-term respite care for older adults, with staff on site all the time for safety and support, providing personal help like medication monitoring, bathing, dressing, and managing diabetes or incontinence. The community is licensed by the state and has staff trained for specialized memory care, with a secure setting for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, and the living spaces are designed to make life easier to navigate, with walk-in showers, large closets, and rooms that look out over a golf course or courtyard with flower boxes. Residents can choose from roomy one- or two-bedroom suites or semi-private rooms, each with full kitchenettes so they can keep some independence, and there's an option for wheelchair-accessible showers.

The staff can help with things like VA benefits and other cost assistance programs, with payment options including check and credit card, and the pricing is all-inclusive, which makes it easier to plan. Meals are cooked from scratch three times a day in the dining room to encourage socializing, and the meals can follow special diets like heart-healthy or vegetarian, with menus planned by a food service director and a dietician. Residents can worship on-site or go to offsite services, and there's support for spiritual counseling as well. An on-site activity director plans daily events and social activities, including offsite trips around Columbus, and the common areas-indoors and outdoors-give folks places to relax, exercise, and visit together. Pets are allowed, though cats and dogs must weigh less than 30 pounds.

Larson House provides housekeeping, personal laundry, and linens service, and there's a beauty salon and barber shop on site for haircuts. There's also transportation available, whether scheduled or for special outings, and resident parking for those who drive. Amenities include arts and crafts rooms, Wi-Fi access in common spaces, and kitchenette features like full-size refrigerators and microwaves. Staff offer medication management, visiting physician and psychiatric services, diabetic care, and hospice care if needed, plus skilled nursing and therapy services through outside providers. Personalized care plans get updated when needs change, and the whole setup tries to help residents stay as active and independent as they can, with a focus on dignity, comfort, and a safe environment.
