    Summary of reviews

Hyland Campus - Memory Care is described consistently as a clean, modern community with a strong emphasis on compassionate, family-style care. Reviewers highlight staff who are attentive, respectful and emotionally supportive; many families contrast the environment to a home-like setting in which residents appear comfortable and engaged. Staffing levels and responsive nursing are frequently noted as strengths, and leadership receives positive mention for accessibility and effective management.

Clinical and day-to-day care are characterized by frequent praise for dementia-aware practices, individualized activities, and a continuum of care that includes end-of-life support. Several families described staff going beyond routine duties to provide dignity and continuity (for example, assistance with special events or outings). At the same time, a cluster of comments indicates the facility may be better suited to early-stage memory impairment than to moderate-to-advanced dementia; families whose loved ones required higher-acuity memory services sometimes sought transfers to a dedicated memory-care facility.

Dining and activities are clear positives. Reviewers report homemade meals, appealing snacks, and personalized approaches to resident preferences. The community offers an active schedule—crafts, puzzles, entertainment, field trips and use of facility vehicles—which families say keeps residents engaged and socially connected. Recreational amenities such as a spa tub and dedicated activity spaces contribute to a perceived higher quality of life.

Facilities and rooms are described as large, neat and well-maintained; common areas and private rooms are viewed as comfortable and attractive. Cleanliness and a pleasant atmosphere are repeatedly emphasized, and reviewers note visible evidence of residents socializing and appearing content.

Areas to examine closely during a tour include the facility's clinical capability for residents with progressing memory-loss needs and staff experience within higher-acuity memory care. Some families described frequent communications from staff about their loved one’s condition, which can reflect attentive monitoring but may also indicate uncertainty around clinical stability or care transitions. Additionally, a few reviewers experienced placement mismatches when a resident's needs increased; prospective families should clarify assessment and transfer protocols.

Overall, Hyland Campus - Memory Care is repeatedly commended for compassionate staff, robust activities, pleasing dining, and a well-maintained environment. Prospective residents and families should confirm the facility’s suitability for the expected stage of cognitive decline and review handoff/placement procedures for residents whose care needs may increase over time.

About Hyland Campus - Memory Care

Hyland Campus - Memory Care in Sun Prairie has a special section called Blu Grotto® Memory Care, which is set up just for older adults with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory problems, and it sits inside a larger community that also offers independent living and assisted living choices, which can be nice if a couple needs different levels of care or if someone's needs change over time. The memory care neighborhood was built with safety in mind, so folks who wander or have trouble remembering things can move around without getting into a dangerous situation, and families often find some comfort in the extra security, like alarms on the doors and bracelets to prevent someone from leaving unnoticed, plus staff are always there, watching round the clock. The inside of Blu Grotto® looks like a regular residence, and the rooms and apartments are arranged to help residents keep their independence as long as possible, with wide halls, safety features for bathing and moving around, full tubs, kitchens or kitchenettes, and Wi-Fi, so residents have some comforts while being safe.

The care teams in memory care are trained to work with folks who have cognitive problems, and there's help available for everything from dressing and bathing to taking medicine or moving around, including lifts and help for people who can't walk. They'll work closely to make a plan for each person, which can even cover hospice, respite care, aging in place, and support for folks with major behavior concerns or those at risk of wandering, which is good for people who need more help or have special needs. They have a full-time activity director who schedules engaging events, so there are always things to do-people get together for stretching and yoga, art and cooking classes, gardening, games in the common room, and even educational lectures, and outings are arranged with transportation, so residents are not stuck indoors all day unless they want to be. Pet-focused programs bring in animals for visits, sometimes children come in for intergenerational activities, devotional services are on site, and there's a full calendar of activities each week to encourage socializing and keep everyone's minds active, which helps with mood and loneliness.

Meals are prepared for residents and can be made for special diets such as gluten-free, low or no sodium, vegetarian, or low sugar, and there's a dining room where people can eat together, which helps everyone feel more at home. The campus also provides other needed services-like laundry, housekeeping, beautician and salon access, even long-term care insurance options, sprinkler and alarm systems, guest parking, and cable TV, and the grounds are maintained for both indoor and outdoor enjoyment, so folks can relax outside or join in activities when they'd like. Blu Grotto® Memory Care is a place where someone with memory problems can live in a supportive and safe environment, with a friendly staff who know how to handle tough days and make sure everyone's comfortable, maybe in their favorite clothes or with a little extra time if needed, and who always support folks in making connections and keeping as much independence as possible, even as needs change, which really does make a difference day to day.
