    Warm caring staff spotless building

I moved my mother-in-law to Forest Ridge and she loves it - the staff are warm, caring and attentive, and the building and grounds are spotless. The social calendar is full (exercise, cards, crafts, outings and shuttle service, church), apartments are spacious with full kitchens and washer/dryer, and optional assisted services are available if needed. I'm impressed overall and would recommend Forest Ridge - I wouldn't mind living here myself.

    Summary of reviews

Forest Ridge presents as a well-appointed, recently renovated senior living community with a strong emphasis on independent living and an abundance of on-site amenities. Reviewers consistently note attractive grounds, clean common areas, and spacious, modern apartment finishes (many with full kitchens and balconies). The campus offers a range of conveniences—salon, country store, coffee bar, in-building laundry and cafeteria, underground parking, and regular shuttle service—which support residents who prefer a low-need, self-directed lifestyle.

Staff and care are frequently described as a strength. Many accounts highlight compassionate, helpful, and attentive frontline staff, prompt maintenance responses, and staff who foster a welcoming, family-like atmosphere. The community also offers optional door-to-door assisted living services and some on-site clinical supports such as medication delivery and a visiting physician, which enable a continuum of care for residents who may need additional help over time. At the same time, several families expressed concerns about variability in responsiveness from leasing or management and described gaps in clinical monitoring and incident-response processes; prospective residents should clarify escalation and communication protocols during tour and move-in.

Dining and food service receive mixed but generally positive comments. The dining rooms, daily menus, and desserts are commonly praised and many residents appreciate the social aspect of shared meals. However, reviewers also noted operational constraints—meals that must be signed up and prepaid in advance and occasional reheating-related quality issues. The facility's a la carte fee structure and additional charges for services (meals, cleaning, higher levels of care) are also recurring considerations that affect overall cost and value for different budgets.

Activities and social life are robust for residents who are engaged and mobile. Forest Ridge runs a broad programming calendar—exercise classes, games, crafts, religious services, outings, and resident-led groups—that supports an active social environment. That atmosphere suits socially outgoing residents well, but quieter or more reserved individuals may find it harder to integrate without more structured orientation; reviewers suggested improved introductions to activities and better signposting for new residents.

Operationally, the community offers many conveniences but also some practical limitations to evaluate. The building layout and the distance between apartments and communal spaces were noted as challenging for residents with limited mobility; wayfinding in connected buildings and long hallways can be confusing. Reviewers mentioned limited laundry capacity in some areas, intermittent climate-control or appliance issues, and occasional phone/connectivity delays. Finally, while base rent is often described as reasonable, costs can rise substantially when additional services or higher-acuity care are needed, and there is variability in perceived customer-service tone among staff and managers.

Overall, Forest Ridge is a strong option for active, independent seniors who prioritize amenities, social programming, and newer apartment finishes. Prospective residents and families should visit during activity and meal times, ask specific questions about meal-signup and fee structures, confirm clinical escalation procedures, and evaluate apartment proximity to frequently used common spaces to ensure the community matches their mobility and care needs.

    About Forest Ridge Senior Community

Forest Ridge Senior Community sits at 11077 W Forest Home Ave in Hales Corners, Wisconsin, and you'll find trees, flowers, and even wildlife like birds and squirrels right outside the balconies, which is nice for folks who enjoy nature and a quiet view. The building's modern, just recently renovated, so apartments are spacious, new, and have large sun-bright windows and lots of storage, plus there's underground parking to keep cars out of the weather. The community offers assisted living, independent living, memory care, and home care services, and there's always a caring support team on hand to help whenever needed, though people still get to feel independent if they like to do things themselves. The Grand Atrium is where people gather for social events, group programs, and activities, and there's a Fitness Center for those who want to stay active and fit, whether they like a full workout or just simple exercises. Residents get to go on outings, like a trip to Lake Geneva or shopping rides on the little buses, and regular activities keep things lively for those who want to join in. There's a mailroom, a beauty shop, and a small store right on site for basic needs, so most everything folks need is close by. Kitchens in the apartments are designed to be both stylish and easy to use, making cooking or just fixing a cup of tea simple enough. The staff get high marks from families and residents for being loving and attentive, and the whole place feels welcoming and warm, probably because it's locally owned and operated, which helps keep a bit of that neighborly feeling too. Forest Ridge has a Facebook page if family wants to keep up with what's going on in the community. The setting's peaceful, with mountains and wooded greenery all around, and the campus sits close to Woodland Park hospital for those who need quick access to healthcare.
